You think Hunter got a "sweetheart" deal, and Trump is being mistreated?

Who says Trump can't avoid prison? He just needs to do exactly what Hunter did. Admit that he broke the law! Of course, waving around for anybody to see the nation's nuclear secrets and war plans is a bit more "serious" than paying your taxes late. Or, for that matter, possessing a gun while addicted to drugs (even though the latter comes a tad closer).

He can propose some sort of deal for the document case. Maybe even avoid prison altogether. I mean... David Petraeus didn't go to prison. Why can't Trump do the same?

The answer is maybe HE CAN! Even though Petraeus' documents were only "Secret". Not "Top Secret" like Trump's.

But his attorneys have already made it clear that he WON'T take ANY plea bargain.

There is only so much time for a plea deal. You can't expect a plea deal when the trial has started just because things aren't going your way.

So let's stop the nonsense about Hunter getting a "sweetheart deal" for paying his taxes late. Trump could get one for stealing classified documents IF he confesses.

BTW, not interested in responding to comments of anybody who hasn't read the indictment, so they don't know that Trump's admission is ON TAPE. Or even listened to the Bret Baier interview, in which Trump AGAIN admitted it live on TV (or recorded... makes no difference). So don't bother.

Yes, Hunter got a sweet deal breaking a mindless law that has no chance of preventing a dangerous person from purchasing a firearm. We might as well ask "Are you dangerous?" "Are you sure?".

Even if you could make a case for the effectiveness of the law, (no one has been able to) not enforcing it renders it useless. (That's double the uselessness)

We don't know the trump trial will end, so we will see what kind of deal he gets.

    Short version
"lets pretend there isn't a 2 tier system when there 100% clearly is"
"sweetheart" deal? He got more than that. He practically got a happy ending

How about a mindless law that allows a pseudo-President to walk away with nuclear secrets and the most secret military plans ? "Will you steal this list of secret spies to show off to your pals at the Kremlin?" "Are you sure?" Even for that Trump might be able to get a "sweetheart deal". All he needs to do is the same thing Hunter did: confess! But he refuses!

He has enough information in his little brain to sell us out if he was going to. This is not about protecting national security. I would feel the same if the Obama mansion was raided.

"Attorney General Merrick Garland pushed back Wednesday against GOP accusations that the Justice Department’s plea agreement with Hunter Biden reflects a double standard of preferential treatment for Democrats," CNN.

Republicans are making complete fools of themselves ... again. They can be forgiven. The Republican politicians are talking to Trump's fans, and they are not very bright. They think responsible news is "fake news" because Trump says so.

People are not imprisoned for tax fraud if they have paid the taxes and all fees and penalties. Hunter Biden has done that.

Crack addicts who buy a gun are not placed in prison. The gun is taken away, and the addict is told not to do it again. Hunter was that addict.

Republicans are comparing the treatment Trump is getting for stealing the nation's classified documents with the treatment Hunter is getting, and are saying the President's son is getting preferential treatment, an assertion that is about as ludicrous as it gets.

Comparing Trump's crimes to Hunter's crimes is like comparing a speeding ticket to robbing a bank. Republicans are paying a dear price for their self-respect to stand in front of a television camera and compare the two.

    A.G. Garland explains.

CNN continued, "Garland was pressed during a news conference in Sweden to address accusations from Republican lawmakers that Hunter Biden merely received a “slap on the wrist” while former President Donald Trump was criminally indicted.

"Garland rejected the idea, pointing to the fact that the US attorney in Delaware tasked with investigating Biden’s son was appointed under the Trump administration.

"Garland’s remarks come after David Weiss, the US attorney overseeing the Biden criminal probe, told House Judiciary Committee Chair Rep. Jim Jordan in a letter that he had full autonomy over any decision making on the case.

I have been granted ultimate authority over this matter, including responsibility for deciding where, when, and whether to file charges and for making decisions necessary to preserve the integrity of the prosecution, consistent with federal law, the Principles of Federal Prosecution, and Departmental regulations,” Weiss wrote in the letter.

"The attorney general said that any further questions to “explain” the plea agreement should be directed to the US attorney in Delaware."

Did I say that in their pathetic defense of the hapless Trump, who stole some of our nation's top secrets, some Republicans are making complete fools of themselves? Others are smart enough to stay the hell away from this Republican catastrophe brought on by Trump's uninformed fans.

By a lengthy margin, Trump remains the leading Republican candidate for the Presidency in 2024. Of course, it is expected that Trump's fans will not respond to this report.

Yeah, let's stop pretending that Trump is uniquely guilty enough to be punished. I'm. convinced that if every public official was subjected to the same tactics Trump was and still is the mority would be in prision The commonly understood method of the eastern Europe communist countries was "give me the man, I'll find you his crime" Democrats are perfecting that here in America.

Oh! There is no question that Trump sold us out. But that's not what I'm referring to.

I'm sure they wouldn't. Most of them would most likely have been smarter than Trump and would have taken a plea deal. Like Petraeus did. Like Hunter did.... Trump is the only idiot who will do jail time because... he's an idiot.

Yes he did, because he is an honest man and was not protected by the deep state of unelected highly partisan bureaucrats. Clinton and Biden will never be investigated and prosecuted for such crimes because they are being protected by the deep state. That's what weaponized federal agencies are for. There is a growing recognition of, and an anger toward, this blatent misuse of power. An evil has descended upon our country and it has been embraced by the Democratic Party.
