Neil deGrasse Tyson nukes Young Earth Creationism with this argument:

Any rebuttals from YECs on here?

Personally, I have never met or hear from an actual YEC.....I have only heard that they exist.

I find it amazing that it is news to anybody (in the western world at least) that it would take light 6,500 years to get from somewhere 6,500 light years away.

    Also found on "Discovery News":

Sounds like a reliable source to me. NOT!

I find it amazing that you don't understand the part where if light has reached the Earth from farther than 6,500 light year away then the universe is older than 6,500 years. BILLIONS of years older as a matter of FACT!

If it did then there is a logical explanation for it. But before we need to worry about that you need to find a reliable source for your claim.

So when I point out that it would take 6,500 years for light to travel 6,500 light years I am somehow claiming that the universe is only 6,500 years old?

It is the distance light travels (in a vacuum) in one year. Are you trying to tell us it wouldn't take 6,500 years for light to travel 6,500 light years?

No, that'd be you. And Sadistic Savior, apparently. What f_socialism said is exactly correct, but you both do not understand that he didn't say anything which contradicts the statement of the OP.

    Help you yet?

Why don't you have someone with a normal intelligence level read my post then explain it to you in terms you can understand. Perhaps they could draw pictures for you in crayon.

    NO! What he said was:

What he STILL can't wrap his skull around (and apparently you can't either) is that NOBODY said that it was news. What is news is that since we receive light from VASTLY further away it is PROOF POSITIVE that the universe is older than the 6,500 years the young earth creationists claim. Thus the yec claim is debunked!

No matter how contemptuous I become I can't keep up!

When people argue for a young earth they ignore nearly all the science out there not just evolution. For me science only shows the true wonder of Gods works.

If the universe were only 6,500 years old, how could we see the light from anything more distant than the Crab Nebula?" Tyson asks during the episode. "We couldn't. There wouldn't have been enough time for the light to get to Earth from anywhere farther away than 6,500 light years in any direction. That’s just enough time for light to travel a tiny portion of our Milky Way galaxy."

How is the above current news? Please explain this ground breaking news describing a light year ~ ( sarcasm)

Nice deflection btw but utter fail.
