I haven't heard this mentioned anywhere in any news stories or blogs or whatnot so it could just be me... but the ads on YouTube have gotten far more annoying as of late.

I've been watching some longer 30+ minute videos lately, so that may be part of the problem, but I get an unskippable ad that doesn't display the runtime/duration and is usually over 90 seconds long before pretty much every video. I don't mind frequent ads, or ads in the middle of long videos, or even unskippable ads, but really long ads that CAN'T be skipped creates a really poor experience. I understand that on TV that commercial breaks are several minutes but it's several minutes of several ads and a greater variety. Even if one commercial is annoying or doesn't interest you, it's fairly likely one of them will interest you or be humorous.

Am I the only one seeing this? Is it not a big deal to anyone else?

I don't often watch longer stuff on youtube anymore just because their video quality is usually so sucky. I have noticed long ad breaks on websites that host their own content though (like TV stations and the like)

Firefox + Adblock Plus = no YouTube ads (or ads anywhere else for that matter)

If you are on a PC they are easy enough to avoid with FireFox and AdBlock Plus.

On a mobile device it is kind of a pain to implement, but you can also get AdBlock app to bypass all the adds on youtube.
