Well, it was nice while it lasted. Yesterday was tense and heated, but all in all I think it went a lot better than I expected. We really appreciate how relatively restrained most of the discussions were.

Today seems to be a different story, though. Too many of these discussions are getting completely out of hand. The rules against insults, racial slurs, and flamebaiting are still in effect, but too many people are crossing the line. Whereas on Sunday, people were doing an unexpectedly good job of still staying within the boundaries, the threads today are inundated with personal attacks and insults. We're going to be calling every one of them we see, and we won't have time to get into lengthy discussions about it. Consider this a general thread warning for every thread. Any post that crosses the line today will probably result in an immediate thread-ban, and possible infractions. People NEED TO KEEP THE RULES IN MIND WHEN THEY POST - we don't want to delete anything, and we don't want to limit the discussions, but we still have to enforce the basic rules of the forum.

Thanks, everyone. We want to leave as much latitude as possible for the discussions to follow their natural course, but it's a constantly evolving situation, so we're just trying to adapt as it evolves. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

I am glad it is over, hopefully within a month I will never hear or read the name zimmerman again, or at least less frequently

Also, kudos to the pro Martin people. The lack of violence was refreshing and encouraging, in particular considering the recent European riots.

Please add your thoughts in the existing Zimmerman threads. We have plenty of them.

Hopefully its okay to make a suggestion. Is it possible to open another sub forum for this topic? It looks like its going to take over this one.

If not, how about Current Events or even better, Law and Justice?

Sorry, guys and gals, but we just can't keep up with this. It's essentially taken over 2 forums, and we can't keep up with the insults.

We're creating a new forum for the Zimmerman discussions, which by pure coincidence will be called "Zimmerman." Everything related to the Zimmerman-Martin case needs to be posted in there. In a few days, we'll merge the forum back into Current Events, and the threads will re-order themselves and be archived in Current Events.
