The rolling average is over 7 days, and its a 6 point spread. That means the daily gap is currently higher, as it is pulling the trend upwards.

    Say goodnight Obama.

Interesting. I would have thought that after Obama's decent 2nd debate performance he'd get a jump in the polls.

    Apparently I thought wrong...

I doubt last night's debate is going to slow down Romney's momentum. He gave another strong performance. Obama did better than last time, but that was to be expected. With undecided panels preferring Romney last night, and most polls showing Romney wins on the economy, the deficit, and other issues, things aren't looking too good for Obama, especially considering the 3rd debate is going to be a hard battle for Obama, right in the middle of a foreign policy fiasco.

The polls coming out right now are mostly pre-debate. We'll know a week from today the full story on what effect the debate had, if any. I don't see Obama closing the gap with last night's performance. Undecided voters preferred Romney in almost all of the critical topics and saw him as a stronger leader. Not good for Obama.

I don't think this poll actually incorporates an impact from last night yet. Over the next coming days, new data gets included one day at a time, while the day at the rear drops off. However, you can assume that yesterday's numbers probably had Romney at about +8 or more for the day, as that is how the rolling average has to work to continue to pull a slope upward. It can fall off that a bit in the coming days, but still maintain a rolling upward trend, so long as the new day is higher than the 7-day-old one being dropped off the rear.

    Imagine that.

And according to many conservatives Gallup is unreliable because it is part of this great conspiracy with the Obama administration to fix numbers because of the justice department lawsuit.

Why do you think Obama is fixing the numbers to show a Romney lead in the poll?

I think Romney's first debate performance turned the tides in this election. People saw that Obama's characiture of Romney was not accurate, an the impression is still generating more momentum. Even decent debates from Obama are likely to have little impact. Romney would need to blow it in the 3rd election, or come out with a huge gaffe right before election day. I think if he can maintain what he has now, he'll be in good shape in a few weeks.

Here is how it works. Those polls that want to pad a Dem's numbers will over-poll Dems a bit out from the election. But as it nears, they need to bring their numbers into more truthful results, lest they lose all credibility when the actual election occurs. This is how Gallup functions.

Because he can't wait to lose? He can't wait to be what he was born to be, and all he has the brains for? A wealthy Hollywood celebrity.

Please review your threads, this is the link you should have posted.
    http://www.gallup.com/poll/158048/romney-obama-among-likely-voters.aspx

Maybe those links have dynamic content, but this very same issue happened with ConsMike, either he posted the wrong URL, or the site has dynamic content loading.

    Asked, and answered. BAM.

The question, then, is: do the Dems suddenly question these numbers? Is the disparity in poll results when compared to their (addled) perceptions of reality something that they can explain any other way?

Yes, liberals: we'll wait as you caucus for talking-point answers to these questions.

Ah. So the numbers *are* fixed, but even though Real Clear Politics is showing the average of recent polls shows Romney with a 0.6 point average, Gallup felt it needed to show a 6 point Romney lead because it is worried about "credibility."

Conservatism makes sense. If you ignore reality.

Asked, and answered, and shot down. BAM.

Which Dems were claiming the numbers were fixed? Strawman.

    Answered. What talking points?

RCP is still included a lot of the skewed polls. Do you ever take the time to research ?

I'm interested to know what the 2008 polls looked like at this time so as to get a clearer picture as to where this election currently stands.

Okay, maybe I am that tired, but if that was posted yesterday, then the site has dynamic content loading, where the link content can change each day, because my link didn't have your numbers.

So the other polls are part of the great left wing conspiracy too, they just aren't worried about credibility like Gallup all of a sudden is, which is why they only show a 0.6 point spread, and why Gallup shows a 6 point spread, which it did because it suddenly became worried about credibility, even though it is part of the massive left wing number fixing conspiracy too.

    Got it.

No matter how many times you say it, it won't make it true. How inconvenient for you and your liberal buddies. We will not ignore reality, and anyone with half a brain won't either on November 6th. You will lose...time is ticking, everyone including the President know this.

Usually in the last 30 days before an election you'll get the truth out of the biased for just the reason you stated.

After 43 straight months of 8 percent or higher unemployment, more than 23 million Americans struggling to find work, 47 million Americans on food stamps, our national debt over $16 trillion following the President’s four $1-trillion-plus annual budget deficits, and an anemic 1.7 percent in second quarter GDP growth, there isn't any amount of dung shoveling nor mud slinging that can save Obama now.
