Arizona sheriffs and the state’s attorney generals are pushing controversial programs to allow school officials and volunteers to carry guns in the wake of the shootings at a Connecticut school that left 20 children dead.


The latest proposal comes from Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the self-described toughest sheriff in America, who wants to station his “posse” of volunteers outside of about 50 schools in Maricopa County within a week, according to KPNX, a local NBC station.

*Everybody else is talking about what their ideas are.
They want new laws.
This is immediate.
I don't need a new law to send out my posse,” he told NBC affiliate, KPNX, on Thursday.
“I feel like we should do whatever we can outside of the schools.”

Arpaio’s volunteers number about 3,000, with 300 to 400 carrying weapons.
They log about 100 hours of training and undergo background checks, just like deputies, according to KPNX.

If Joe is setting up armed protection for the kids at their schools, just like Obama & other leaders have for their kids, then good for him....

 

What is wrong with Arpiao putting a posse member OUTSIDE of schools? Please tell me. How the Left hate this man and he has done more good than any sheriff we ever had here.

He puts deputies outside the malls during Holidays to keep shoppers and their cars safe

He has put up tents to house prisoners when the jails are full, never turning down taking in a law breaker

He uses chain gang prisoners to pick up trash off of roadways and parks to keep our cities and road side clean and saves the state thousands by doing it.

He has arrested thousands of illegals working here, taking jobs from Americans

He takes in abused and neglected animals and houses them in jails no longer used for prisoners, having women inmates taking care of them.

He holds classes to give inmates that hasn't graduated, a chance to finish high school.

He has a drug program to help those hooked on drugs.

All we get from the Left and this administration is put downs and trying to get him fired.

 

We're talking about kindergarten mass-murderers' now toting 100-round-drum-equipped AR-15's .... Lanza is plotting his next move ... Kindergarten teachers armed with little-baby glocks isn't gonna make it ..

Last thing we need is dear-leader LaPierre doing another Blood Libel after the next massacre ...

 

Attacking violence (or anything else) with easily adaptable and alterable experimentation at the local level....

Why is it the solution to every problem for the fine sheriff is to increase police actions?

Now I do not have children, but if I did, the last thing i would want is a "volunteer posse" guarding them. We have police. We have gun laws. Enforce our current laws and stop thinking the solution to every (*)(*)(*)(*)ing problem we have is more guns.

I think armed guards in schools is a good idea. I don't like the idea of allowing them to be volunteers though. I want them to be professionals with proper and annual training. I don't want a "posse".

Wow! 100 hours! That is some real life experience right there. 100 hours. 2 and a half work weeks and they are ready to burst into a school and shoot the school shooter that somehow makes it past them. 100 hours teaches them how to throw lead in buildings full of children. 100 hours. Amazing the amount of wisdom and experience that would give them.

 

Maybe we can mark all the lib children with a scarlet "L" on their forehead and only protect the children of birther posse conservatives.

Oh, how is that going to happen? Do this "volunteer posse" have the right to stop folks and question them? To what is the point of them being armed if they are not going to rush into the school and save the date? Why not just get a slightly less fascist gate?

 

I think whites should protect their own children first.

Why not try and catch them before they ever get into the school so bullets aren't flying around the class rooms? Yes, they have pretty much the same powers as a deputy. Much more than hiring guards that have none.
