It could be said that unless we have a draft our government will continue to embark on unjustified wars every teen years.
Ok, let's be clear here: America did not single-handedly win WW2. I know you all like to think that, but you didn't. It is good you showed up or the entirety of Europe and Japan would have been part of the Soviet Bloc, but you were not necessary for the defeat of the Axis powers, you simply made it happen a) faster; b) with fewer negative consequences.
You're right about the Western world, but we weren't talking about that, we were talking about winning WW2, which meant defeating the Axis Powers. You could say letting the Soviets take everything wouldn't be a "win", but in that case WW2 wasn't actually a "win" anyway.
Add $225. Still not enough. I haven't met a high school graduate without additional training worth that much wage.
There is no one allied nation that won WWII all by itself. With out US supplies of petroleum and two and a half ton trucks Russia's vaunted tank force is little more than a bunch of over weight push toys. Without the USSR occupying most of Germany's attention the D-Day invasion is all but impossible.
Unless you're going to tell me that you've evaded paying all your taxes, you should probably keep that kind of rant to yourself.
Most of those had valid exemptions. Clinton actually avoided the draft by breaking the law. He later was quoted as saying he "loathed the military!" He was a cowardly POS, and some of the others you mentioned had poor excuses for sure.
Without hesitation. Though at this point in my life, I'm on the upper end age wise of those they would select, unless the (*)(*)(*)(*) REALLY hit the fan.
I bet you don't remember US friendly fire killing several Canadians, and Bush had to be prompted to apologize for their losses. Oh well Oh yes, save their bacon alright. 30,000 Canadians volunteered to fight in southeast Asia.[36] Among the volunteers were fifty Mohawks from the Kahnawake reserve near Montreal.[37] One-hundred and ten (110) Canadians died in Vietnam, and seven remain listed as Missing in Action. Canadian Peter C. Lemon was awarded the U.S. Medal of Honor for his valour in the conflict. Canadian industry exported military supplies and raw materials useful in their manufacture, including ammunition, napalm and Agent Orange,[5] to the United States, as trade between the two countries carried on unhindered. "500 firms sold $2.5 billion of war materials (ammunition, napalm, aircraft engines and explosives) to the Pentagon. Another $10 billion in food, beverages, berets and boots for the troops was exported to the U.S., as well as nickel, copper, lead, brass and oil for shell casings, wiring, plate armour and military transport. In Canada unemployment fell to record low levels of 3.9%"[4] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_and_the_Vietnam_War Canadian Forces casualties in Afghanistan Canada sent its first element of Canadian soldiers secretly in October 2001 from Joint Task Force 2,[1] and the first contingents of regular Canadian troops arrived in Afghanistan in January–February 2002. Canada took on a larger role starting in 2006 after the Canadian troops were redeployed to Kandahar province. There were 2,500 Canadian Forces (CF) personnel in Afghanistan in 2006, of which 1,200 comprised the combat battle group.[2] Roughly 950 are currently deployed in Afghanistan as part of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). The number of Canadian Forces' fatalities resulting from Canadian military activities in Afghanistan is the largest for any single Canadian military mission since the Korean War between 1950 and 1953. A total of 158 Canadian Forces personnel have been killed in the war since 2002.[1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada's_role_in_the_Afghanistan_War
Served four years in the Air Force. That being said, I think a draft is a good idea. We have a caste system here in the USA. Wealthy whites don't have a sense of country since poor whites and minorities do the protecting. Most wealthy folks look down on military service and had their been a draft in place the Iraq War probably never would have happened. To many white GOPers with money had no moral objections sending poor folks across the planet to fight for their freedom that apparently some third world dictator was taking.
Hell no! I oppose slavery. What the heck is the Democrats' deal with slavery? They have always been the pro-slavery party.
No, because I'd rather not kill and be killed on the behalf of crooked corporations, zionist war criminals and Al Qaeda.
It's people overanalyzing simple questions. It's people trying to figure out what a questioner is really asking. It's people wanting to tell about themselves. It's people who want to politicize everything. It people wanting to editorialize a simple sentence/question. In a nut shell it's people failing to follow instructions and failing to master the art of communication. Actually, it's sad.
