    Spoiler warning:

I just saw TFA and it was awful. The idea that Rey would beat a Supreme Leader Snoke of twenty years training by basically will alone is utter nonsense. And thankfully the Internet is rightfully critiquing this movie as far left propaganda.

Abrams is a self described progressive and this movie reeks of it.

Instead of trying to raise the bar, once again progressives have lowered it just to make women happy. I'm brown and had no problems admiring Hans and Luke. Why must women be forced as equal to men in all things ?!

A major childhood movie series has been destroyed by progressives.

I saw "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and I like the movie. It's an excellent movie. I did not see any "political progressive" message in the entire movie.

This was a a good enjoyable movie that resurrected a series that was ruined by Episodes 1 through 3. Can we just see a movie and enjoy it for what it is instead of trying to make something out of it that it is not?

Didn't Luke Skywalker destroy the Death Star with essentially no training? It isn't supposed to be real. It is supposed to be escapist fantasy.

You're whining because there was a woman protagonist. She wasn't any more exceptional than Luke was in IV.

Stop crying over spilled milk, sit the hell down, and direct your concerns in a way befitting a grown man.

It's definitely there, but still a good movie. If you missed the progressive messages, you're just biased. Nothing wrong with that. Hollywood is super liberal and has been for decades.

Ever seen the movie "Green Zone" or "Avatar"???

I'm pretty sure that it's fairly well accepted that the arts (film, music, comedy, any kind of free expression) is of the liberal persuasion. I actually prefer it that way.

I don't mind biased movies. But Hollywood in general is liberal. That's what I think is the problem. Everyone who controls Hollywood won't accept a Republican movie's message but they'll praise and create millions of liberal ones.

IMO that's just absurd. Conservative actors have to even have to hide their beliefs!

It's a shame that one political system is running something that's supposed to be entertainment.

The arts are made for free expression and it's best to see who they are and understand what they're trying to say. Think of it as reconnaissance...

No I get that part. I do. What I think is sad is that people who are not liberal are not treated as fairly as liberals are in hollywood. I'm not speaking of the arts. I'm speaking of the corporation that owns them- as I cited actor James Woods' case.

And yet, it never occured to you that Leia was a leader of the resistance in the 1970's in the midst of woman's lib? In the late 1970's and early 80's, woman were not leaders of major institutions dominated by men.

The fact that Ray, who may be Luke's daughter, is probably going to fight and kill Kaylo Ren in the final episode. Besides, she handled herslef pretty well against two goons when they tried to take the droid. She is also a pilot.

But then again, she is the moden day version of Mulan.

if the public was buying what republicans were selling, more movies would include them I suppose

most people do not go to the movies to be force fed religion...

now some are good, like "The Book of Eli", "Noah" and a few others, but some are just so flaky and obvious, like "Left Behind" with Nicolas Cage, very disappointed in that one

If there is any need to prove that women are held to a different standard, the top post should put that idea to rest. It's a story about the Force. The Force can do anything the story teller wants it to do. In this case, the Force is so strong in this young lady that it allows her to do super human things. So what? Why does this threaten you? Would you say the same thing if the lead was a boy? Is Superman sexist? Batman?

I agree except that instead of directing one's concerns in a way befitting a grown man, I would have suggested directing your concerns to opening the Raisinettes without making all that crinkly noise from the celophane.

John Wayne movies are pretty popular and have a definite old school Republican message. I can also include Outlaw Josey Wales, Dirty Harry Series, and a few others. Even some of the modern war movies are Republican in nature.

Even though movie themes are highlighted/examined/analyzed in the major blockbuster films, the themes are political because politicians and groups make them political, not the other way around. Avatar had a theme of colonialism and some anti militarism, but that does not mean that it was intentional from the start for the political bias. It was part of the overall storyline and a non sequitur aspect to the overall storyline. People just hightight those aspects because of they politically disagree with them and that they want their own political ideology into the film while still trying to retain the overall entertainment of the film. It cannot have it both ways.

The movie was great, and the whole "less experienced hero beats a more experienced villain" is one of the most common tropes in Hollywood. No one cared when it was white guys doing it, but the moment the character has a vagina, the far right losses their collective (*)(*)(*)(*).

People really think this is a thing?

yes, how could a woman possibly beat the super-villian? that's feminist.

it's appalling that movie makers are trying to get more women to see their movies by starring more women in lead roles. that violates me as a man who sees movies.

and yes, that 'Force' will power stuff is utter nonsense. i didn't fall for that 'Force' stuff either. mere fiction at best.

by the way, Rey didn't beat Snoke. Snoke is the lizard emperor guy. She beat her brother Kylo Ren. you don't even have the characters right.

You don't see men demanding that Charlies' Angels be remade with men, do you ? Why must everything be equal ?

No, the issue was how easily she gained her skills given she was a novice by all accounts. It's all about empowering women with a false sense of ability - without having to earn it.
