Clemson that was a HECK of a game you brought! But I must say we are a VERY proud state tonight and those of us in LA could not be prouder of Jake, my grandson plays for the school he played for in Mobile.

One of the ESPN commentators in the after game show said "Well this ends the two year drought in Alabama national championships"..............congrats to Sabin and the team for a great year!

WHo was player of the game? I watched but I didn't catch it apparently. Was a fun game though, even though I can't stand coach Satan.....errr I mean Saban :)

I missed the MVP award but I would guess Cok

Sabin has his dinesty, the question is whether he will surpass Bear Bryant, he is a class act and an excellent football coach. We'll be happy to keep him here :cheerleader:

Great game against a more than worthy adversary. Now Nick Saban is almost in the same class as the mighty Bear. As a UCLA and Notre Dame fan who has followed college football since the early 60s, I must admit that the Tide under coach Saban is the best I have seen in my lifetime. Congrats!

Dabo did a great job building an offense around Watson, the running QB.

Like with Wilson and the Seahawks, defenses eventually fugure it out and stop him.

That aside, Watson vs Bama was a good game. TheTide have passed the test of time. We've seen teams fly high when a certain QB was on the team and Clemson will need to build a team, not build a team around 1 QB.

Saban has displayed his ability to build an organization

I was thinking Coker or that tight end of yours. But yeah Saban has proved to be a good coach, even if he does get that nudge from the pollster ;).

As far as better than Bryant, I would say he is close to him, but from my view it's from 2 different eras where the SEC wasn't as easy to recruit like it is today. No excuses though, the man did it at 2 schools and I'm sure he could do it at another college, even some place like Boise St. . The man has the credentials, he has the smarts and he has the following where kids simply would play for him anywhere he goes.

Honestly I'd like to see the progress he would make at a non Big 6 conference, think the results would be very exciting and good for college football. Could you imagine Appalachian St. playing in the college football playoffs? It would be off the hook.

Inspite of the frequent rumors I don't think Saban is going anywhere, he is right where he wants to be to build his legacy.

Yeah I wouldn't think so, but you know he does want that second shot at the NFL. And with that said he has a much better chance to join a team with real potential and a front office that gives a damn unlike his stint with the Dolphins.

He doesn't want the NFL, or he would have gone already. He knows what he has at Alabama, and I predict he will retire there.

Exactly. Most of the NFL jobs would pay him less anyway, so it can't be the money. He has no reason to jump to the NFL again.

I got to be careful how I word this... because I do believe Bama is the best.

but I think bama was 1 play away from not being the champs... and they weren't even involved in the play.

Go back to the Ole Miss/Ark game. Arkansas does that "hog and ladder play" on 4th down and a mile in OT that saved the game that they eventually won.

if Ark does not get that rediculously unlikely play..... 1 SEC loss Ole Miss (that holds the tiebreak over 1 sec loss Bama) vs UF in the SEC championships, and there is no way that Bama gets in the playoffs.

I mean, every champ has some luck on their side, but think about how close Bama was from winning due to the result of that play.

True, and even during the game there were a few momentum changing events. But that's college football.

oh absolutely.... But Bama controlled those momentum swings (or played a part in it) But take away the hog and ladder, and they don't even get the chance.

back when Au lost to FSU, AU was extremely lucky 3 times that year. the kick6 play against Bama.... the hail mary against UGA that UGA player that should have swatted it down, went for the pick on 4th down, and it bounced up into a AU reciever's hands..... and a huge lucky play against a team at the beginning of the season.

The only other thing I hate about Bama winning is not Bama or their fans....it's the 13 other SEC schools that are using Bama's dominance as a way to mean "Sec dominance"

Bama has won what... 5/8 titles.... yet somehow, every 4+loss SEC team shouts "SEC is the best conference" no, Bama is the best, the rest of the confeence is a dumpster fire. Bama winning doesn't change the fact that teams like Ark and AU are 5+losses

True, the SEC overall has been down the last couple of years. Someone here(I won't bother to mention who it was) noted after last season about how the SEC sucked because they lost the majority of their bowl games. Ironically, not a peep from them about the results this year. LOL

And this is the kinda thing that makes me love college football. :roflol:

One thing I will say, that I haven't ever said before.... there have dang sure been some years where the SEC was the absolute best conference from top to bottom. There were years that Bama, AU, USC, LSU and Arkansas were VERY good at the same time. But too often, teams like AU and LSU and UF like to think they are still apart of that SEC elite. Even on 7-6 seasons. Just because you won a title in the BCS era, doesn't mean you are still a quality win for Bama in any particular year.

This year, you had Bama.... after that, you had LSU that may look good, or may look bad. You had UF that played a weak side of the conference and didn't have Bama during the regular season like UT, and UGA did. AU was touted as a chance to win it all, and had practically bought Johnson a ticket to get his Heisman in New York during the preseason, and ended up sucking 6 losses out of the season. Very overrated.

SEC had the BEST team, but as far as top to bottom depth, Big x had it with 4 top 15 teams. ACC had 3 top 15 teams. SEC had 1.... Bama

Yea, as a 'Bama fan, the Auburn situation is more than hilarious. Man, what a bunch of (*)(*)(*)(*) talkers the Barners(the name Bama fans usually call Auburn fans, Auburn fans tend to refer to Bama fans as "Gumps") were before the season when they were projected by the "Experts" to win it all. It just shows the polls mean nothing other than a collective opinion.

I'm no better, I think Bama had a better team last year than Ohio State, even with the loss in the playoff, in my mind, Bama was the better team. But this year, I think Bama stole a win against Clemson, who were clearly the best team on the field Monday night.

As an Alabama fan, I don't get this whole rooting for the SEC thing. My favorite two teams are Alabama, and whoever's playing Auburn this week.

I wanted Clemson to win, but let's be honest here... a game is decided by all aspects of the game. One part of the game is special teams. FSU vs UM back in the day... we had better teams, we just didn't have a fg kicker.... and we'd lose. Saying "we're the better team if we had a kicker" may be true, but we didn't execute in all aspects.

Saying Minnesota is better and that Seattle winning was luck, is garbage because part of winning includes hitting a 27 yard field goal.

Clemson has a very explosive offense, more explosive than Bama.... but overall, all aspects included.... Bama was better

Offensively and Defensively Clemson was the best team on the field. The game was decided on a return and a onside kick. Clemson almost had a return for a TD as well.

At any rate, SCOREBOARD BAMA! :clapping:

Of course the irony is, usually it's been 'Bama's FG Kicker who failed them. LOL

Jacob Coker has 2 rings from 2 different teams now.

I wish he had stayed at FSU (obviously)

poor kid... makes a decision to come to FSU because that would give him a starting position sooner than if he went to Bama with McCarron locking down that spot and only being 3 years ahead of Coker (eligibility wise) Figures, he can start for FSU in 2 years.

Then, the next year, and after Coker was locked in, Jameis WInston comes to FSU and the year that Coker was set to start, Winston gets the job. Now, Coker is in a bind. He has less eligibility than Winston, so if Jameis stays for 3 seasons like he was saying the entire time, it only gives Coker, 1 year of starting. So Coker transfers to Bama. But can't win the starting job. Then, Jameis decides to leave after 2 years instead of 3, so Coker would have slid right in.

Had he went straight to Bama, he would have started for Bama last season and this season
Had he stayed at FSU, he would have started this season, too.

Luckily it all worked out for him but his decisions were always good decisions when he made them, but situations occurred that made them the wrong choice when everything played out.
