And now gays can get the government benefits of marriage so it works out perfectly!

Mr. Strawman - I did not say there was a law preventing someone from getting married ? I have explained to you the context in which the "freedom" comment was made numerous times.

One should be free to marry who they want and not be discriminated against/punished for exercising that freedom.

If you do not understand that this comment is related to "discrimination" - I can not help you further.

    Here is all the "context"

Yes I believe in freedom. Whose "freedom" has been infringed. No license is required to exercise ANY freedom.

    - - - Updated - - -

    Government benefits aren't a "freedom"

Of course they are. Freedom does not have a legal definition. If I am not free to get these benefits then that impairs my freedom.

Those benefits aren't needed to exercise any freedom. Tax breaks and governmental entitlements aren't freedoms.

I was responding to another poster who obviously did not believe in freedom.

Nowhere is it stated that we do not have such freedoms so please stop posting into a straw man (the false supposition that I had said we do not have such freedoms).

I said no such thing so please shut up !

Tax breaks and government entitlements are freedoms if I say they are. Freedom is a totally subjective experience. You do not get to define it for others.

Words have meaning and you don't get to assign those meanings.

    free·dom
    /ˈfrēdəm/
    noun
    noun: freedom
the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.

    I prefer

    Definition of freedom

    1
    1
: the quality or state of being free: as

a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action

You are constraining their choice to act on the government benefits others get. Really we are just talking philosophy now because none of this has any meaning under the law.

Tax breaks and governmental entitlements or their absence isn't a constraint of marriage anymore than sales tax is a constraint on your freedom of exchange.

Sales tax only applied to one group is ABSOLUTELY a constraint on freedom of exchange. Thanks for the GREAT example.

You could probably fit all gays who would not trade their gay life for a straight life in a Mini Cooper.

Evidence of it not being a choice:
    > a majority of parents who knew their child was gay before their age14
    > most gays would gladly trade for a straight life
    > efforts to "help" gays overcome their "gayness" sometimes results in suicide
    > No one would choose to be gay and go through all the ridicule

Civil unions, by definition, are legal unions.

Not responsive to the points raised in the post you quoted. I am not surprised.

Yes it is if it applies to only one group. One group has the freedom gets to keep all its money and one group does not.

Well, at least now when the gays and their advocates whine about liberty and freedom, we know they are whining about tax breaks and governmental entitlements.

Well, yeah. Unions between men and women are responsible for the perpetuation of the human species. Gay unions are responsible for orgasms, most of the HIV cases in the US and little else. To quote the supreme court referring to traditional marriage-

"We are dealing here with legislation which involves one of the basic civil rights of man. Marriage and procreation are fundamental to the very existence and survival of the race."

ONE, not two of the basic civil rights of man because a man couldn't legally procreate with a woman without a marriage. To quote another supreme court case.

"Surely, a decision to marry and raise the child in a traditional family setting must receive equivalent protection. And, if appellee's right to procreate means anything at all, it must imply some right to enter the only relationship in which the State of Wisconsin allows sexual relations legally to take place".

Thanks for illustrating for us the depth of your anti-gay bias.

As for your Supreme Court quotes, Obergefell. You lost, and it's over.

I have. Man in his 50s, divorced from his wife with 2 kids. Says as a heterosexual divorcee, he never go laid. As a gay man, says he gets laid ALL THE TIME.

Pointing out that gays are responsible for most of the HIV in the US isn't bias, its reality. Grasp a hold of some if you can.

I wasn't presenting them as legal precedent and instead do so to illustrate the glaring difference between heterosexual and homosexual relationships.

Not the basis for my considering you biased. You made an assumption and missed the mark by a mile.

Not a "glaring difference" where legal marriage is concerned. If you think the ability to breed makes heterosexuals superior, there's little anyone can do to disabuse you of that asinine, biased opinion.

Fighting for tax breaks and governmental entitlements. Tax breaks and governmental entitlements aren't rights.

Tax breaks and governmental entitlements are rights. Try denying them to black people. If the government denies ANYTHING to a group without a compelling interest that is a violation of their civil rights.
