This is why Bernie cannot work with Trump. Bernie has his own piece of legisltiaon that he will present which actually addresses this issue. Bernie has policy...Trump has pandering.

Bernie wants to punish corporations. Bernie wants to see more of them move their finances out of the country.

Way to go Bernie, tell it how it is. The Carrier competitors will be the first to line up and ask: "But what about our tax incentive"? And we all know how those incentives will be paid for: By more debt that then will be blamed on the next Democratic president.

The Trump fans will, however, continue to spin this as a win for the little guy.

    - - - Updated - - -

Didn't Trump campaign on punishing corporations who offshore by tariffs? Or was that just another misunderstanding?

I was willing to give Bernie a shot and voted for him but he turned tail and ran. After the Hillarycrats stole the primary and mistreated his supporters, he not only remained silent on the issue he endorsed the devil who did it. He's just another politician with no real backbone.

I guess he's all moved into that swanky new pad and ready to look like he's doing something.

Making business more attractive to stay in the country is priority number one. Not so much a priority the last 8 years or a future with Hillary. Bernie wants to use a whip, Trump will use a carrot. I am amazed how people don't understand that business is not here to make safe spaces for snowflakes. In the last 6 years Carrier has to deal with 56 new regulations. That costs money. Lowering the corporate tax rate will also help.

Carrier was already moving and they were moving under Obama's watch, Trump talked them out of it. Besides, it's a yuge gamble for any company to try to strong arm lower taxes by bluffing an overseas move, what if they get called on it and actually have to move?

I think he has a pretty good point.

Trump vowed to slap 35% tariffs on companies like carrier when they export production jobs.

Instead, desperate for public approval, he cuts some kind of backroom deal, with Pence possibly abusing his office to give Carrier preferential treatment.

The entire thing stinks like used diapers left outside in a Florida summer for a few days. While the bumbling duo go to bat for every corporation that threatens to leave this country?

Yep, that's why they bought back $12 billion in stock in 2015, must be lack of money. If the $12 billion won't do it for investing into jobs, I wonder what another $7 million from the taxpayer will do? Oh wait, it will go straight into the coffers of the fat cats and will stay there.

Voting for a socialist is never a good idea. He would have preferred carrier going to Mexico.

Maybe not but voting for a guy with zero government experience for the Presidency is just as big of a gamble and I did that. Truth is Bernie and Trump were our best bets for real changes that can help working Americans. Neither one would get half the things done they talked about but it shakes the tree. Although, I think Trump will give it the bigger shake.

With declining business and profits, stock buybacks are an attempt to align the companies value with it's share price. I think all you see is $$$ and think they should give them away.

So, why do they have declining business and profits? Because there is no demand. Why is there no demand? Because of decades of trickle down economics shifting the money to the top, where it sits without being spent. Thanks for proving my point.

But, back to your points: Why would the taxpayer bail out a company with declining business and profits? Aren't we always told by the free market afficionados that the market will sort this out, by letting them go bankrupt? But, all of a sudden you favor government intervention -- because it is you guy doing it and you approve his message.

From what I just heard there was no backroom deal, Carrier made the deal on the promise Trump would improve the business climate in this country. They're still free to move if they so choose, much in part due to the way socialists/communists in this country kind of blamed corps for everything and wanting them to pay for it (thanks Obama) but under Trump they feel things will improve.

And can you believe I've heard liberals calling the saving of Carrier a bad thing? A BAD THING!!!

    Oh.

I am more of a free market kid of guy, and I don;t really approve of the president and vice president using elected offices to pander for some political gain.

I guess you could call saving 1,000 jobs a political stunt, or you could call it what it is, saving 1,000 jobs, something Trump campaigned on. The left will see it one way, the right another.

Why should government soak the very businesses that provide jobs?

why don't you go tell the Carrier workers who will be able to pay their rent and pay for their kids education what a bad deal this was. Democrats just want to create a welfare world where the elites in DC use us all as slaves and live in the ghetto. The Hunger Games is the Democrats utopia

Bernie is a loser according to the Democrats. Who really cares any more what he thinks? He's a socialist.

Carrier hasn't been shy about stating the reasons they wanted to leave, most of which revolve around EPA regulations forcing them to constantly redesign their products, decreasing their profits. They wouldn't have to do this in Mexico, which is why they wanted to go there.

Businesses did just fine in the 90's when we had arguably more "trickle down" than we did during most of the 80's. Were you complaining about it, then?

Paying less taxes is a bailout? If Carrier had moved they wouldn't pay taxes, their employees wouldn't pay taxes, their suppliers wouldn't pay taxes, the local stores who sold goods to the employees who no longer have jobs wouldn't pay taxes, etc. Isn't it better to pay some taxes rather than no taxes? And who would pay for the benefits, unemployment, government programs, etc of the people who lost their jobs? Tax payers, that's who.

Trump isn't even President yet and he saved 1000 jobs. What did Obama do besides golf? What did Bernie do besides let Hillary buy him a lakehouse? I love the left, Trump saves jobs....hes still wrong. This is exactly why you guys lost and will continue to do so if trump keeps saving jobs like this. I know its so awful to see Americans saving their jobs but hopefully the petting puppies will help.

Let me get this right - Trump rolls on sleeves and saves hundreds of jobs. Trump is still a schmuck and Bernie does well by not working with him, for Bernie has POLICY, and Trump has pandering.

Did I get it right? :wall:

Ive been saying this for the last 8 years. We regulate electric fans out of business here, to the point it costs them more to make than they can sell it for, so what happens? It goes to china to be made along with jobs and tax dollars where there is zero regulation and what happens, the same people pushing the regulation here buy the Chinese made fan at wal mart. If anyone doesn't believe me, go to your fridge, turn over you bottle of apple juice....your children are drinking juice all the way from china, the same place where people don't really care if their own children play with lead painted toys. I wonder how careful they were with the juice your child is drinking.
I have endless examples but we don't really need say what everyone reading this damn well knows already now do we.
