San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz is a staunch Democrat who supported Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.

This whole rescue PR fiasco is a farce in the first place. The govt of any Caribbean island that fails to prepare for a disasterous hurricane is too stupid to be saved. And the millions of Americans who take advantage of cheap luxury with an ocean view have no right to expect mainlanders to foot the bill to rebuild their dream homes. Its an island, people. Build cinder block houses and save your own selves. Not my job.

Trump was slow to start, the DOD admitted this, it was because of lack of communication and a mis-assessment of the damage early on, mistakes happen, Trump instead of acknowledging that, and address how they were working to address it going forward, he went on the attack though instead, for Trump the buck stops at the mayor, he forgets he is the President and he is responsible for the DOD, ect.... the buck stops with him.. especially when he was busy patting himself on the back for doing the best job ever seen in the beginning....

 

Trump is pretty much left to defend himself on his own, with the exception of his own staff and a few commentators on Fox. If he stays silent the public will believe the MSM, the NYTimes, the Democrats, etc. He's doing what he has to do and it's working.

Aside from the fact that Puerto Ricans aren't a 'race', and that Hispanic is an ethnicity, people need to ask themselves why these demented charges are being made.

Are they trying to make America a better place to live? Improve relations between the American peoples?

Not to be outdone denigrating storm victims in Puerto Rico and hurling personal insults at the Mayor of San Juan, he went on TV on Sunday and undermined all the work that his Secretary of State is doing, undermining the slim hope of a negotiated settlement with North Korea and destroying the credibility of one of his senior cabinet officials. And this is not the first time he has done this.

Trump DID belittle the people of Puerto Rico. He accused them of waiting around for someone to do everything for them.

And he personally attacked the Mayor of San Juan, questioning her leadership.

Frankly, Donald Trump is the last person on earth who should be questioning anyone's leadership.

Trump doesn't say anything to keep morale high, since he is unable to think that far ahead. He has only himself on his mind and talks to pat himself on the back. It should be obvious to you after all these months of Trump.

 

I'm a Republican that also agrees with him assessment. It's embarrassing to admit being a Republican today because you end up being lumped in with the hate and rage filled bigoted Trump devotees. Those people are NOT Republicans.

I hope the Trump fan nation decides to start a new 3rd Party, takes him with them, and lets the country go back to the decent place it should be. Ronald Reagan is rolling in his grave at the thought of this disrespectful, hateful, bigoted man calling himself a Republican.

Cruz constituents should have tarred and feathered her. Someone in local gov't needed to step up. FEMA HQ is in San Juan and I'm sure it isn't hard to spot. Elevated? Destroyed. 26% approval for Cruz before Maria. Trump investigated Cruz claims, only to find SHE was the problem. He pretty much announced that with her leadership skills, citizens would do better taking an "every man for himself" approach, as Cruz is useless

 

Right ... what they are is totally inappropriate platforms for political discussions. See, neither the Oscars or the anthem protests accommodate discussion or debate. It's a one sided conversation. Political discourse on twitter is different. Participants choose to enter the political discussions rather than have them broadcast AT them ... and they can voice their imput.
