Womens soccer rules. Mens soccer is a bunch of panzies rolling around on the ground crying about fake injuries. Disgusting. Boring. Pathetic. Cant stand watching it.
I'm supporting my hometown club Eintracht Frankfurt since i can walk. After some hard years, rather decades, we're on a good way and it's a lot of fun. We have a really good coach in Nico Kovac, former player from Bayern München and ex trainer of the Croation national team. https://www.eintracht.de/en/news/ Latest match: Some impressions:
I was sceptic when I first heard that he's coming to Frankfurt. In the past he had discipline problems, health problems thereto his bad boy image. Fortunately he's performing very well, is disciplined, fit and a leader on the field who also helps Kovac to work up younger players. A younger player who is worth to have a look at is Marius Wolf, 22. A former player of our U21 national team who was set back in his career due to an injury and after that didn't have a chance in Hannover even in their second team. He's becoming better and better, 4 goals and 6 assists so far. In the beginning of the season nobody expected that much from him and he was only thrown in after several other players were injured but now he's a starter.
I never liked that egoistic piece of trash. He was outstanding in Milan 2010-2011 and had some good performances the following season, but after that he was just plain awful; lazy, selfish and stupid. I don't like him at all. Good to hear he is doing well and is taking responsibility though. I mainly watch Serie A, La Liga and some Premier League. Unfortunately, I don't follow Bundesliga at all, but I will keep that name on my mind.
Another goal from Boateng in a strange match. Massive but peaceful protests against matches on monday evening.
No. 1) Soccer (Football) makes your legs weak. The breeze off another player causes the opponent to suddenly fall over. 2) Said fall causes a sore face and hand spasms so you end up clasping your face. 3) Said fall means you become cylindrical in shape. This causes you to roll about. 4) The cure for this intense pain is simply being ignored by the ref. Then suddenly, they jump to their feet and run off. Miraculously healed. In other words, players on a fortune just try to cheat to get free kicks and penalties. I prefer to watch rugby. Football is a gentlemen's sport played by hooligans and rugby is a hooligans sport played by gentlemen.
Meaning no disrespect, but as an American 'senior citizen', soccer has never been interesting to me. It wasn't part of my world during my youth or young adulthood. Soccer is a fine game, but over here we are still mostly baseball, football, basketball, and hockey enthusiasts. When I was a kid, we used to refer to soccer disparagingly as "kick-ball". It's interesting to see how so many American kids play soccer as teenagers, and then mostly drop interest in the sport as they grow up. I don't know why.
while diving isn't a desirable trait it becomes understandable when you see how many fouls the defenders commit to deny attacking players goal scoring opportunities that go uncalled. If the game officials called every foul that occurred the game would marred by endless PK's, free-kicks and sending off offenses. So an attacking players continually being held, obstructed, elbowed, tripped or kicked it should surprise no one that given an opportunity to even the odds that they take the occasional dive in retaliation. the Rugby analogy isn't pertinent because of the vast difference in rules in regards to what allowable contact is permitted. Before you respond that football isn't a contact sport, my destroyed knees (6 surgeries) multi facial fractures say otherwise.
Well, when I was growing up, kickball was a baseball type sport using a kicked ball instead of a ball and bat. Soccer is a great first sport for kids. Has a lot of running, isn't too hard to master (unlike baseball, where hitting takes a while to master), and to do it well, involves team work. My sons played it up until they were 13 or 14. Oldest went on to play football and lacrosse (new sport here). Soccer was a good prep for lacrosse.
Anything that gets today's kids up off their fat little asses and their eyes off of phone screens is a wonderful idea! I just wondered why so many American kids play soccer in high school, but then seem to abandon the sport when they get older. My German friends are big soccer fans, and they say that the game had become very popular especially after World War II because it was so cheap to create a soccer field. It required no special expensive uniform, helmet, etc. Contrasted with the expense involved with ice hockey and American football I can see what they mean. You are right... the term "kick ball" did also describe a baseball-type game with bases, etc., except that there were no bats.
I can absolutely guarantee your son can't play football at any acceptable level. Being able to run and whack the ball occasionally with your foot is not a sign you can play the game let alone "mastered" the technical requirements. Were that true the USA with it's enormous wealthy college system and abundance of athletes should easily win the WC, but sadly for the USA as yet it's no where close to being in the elite levels of football nations. I trained football players for 25yrs, in that time with thousands of kids only one had "mastered" the technical ability required to make it at a professional level in Europe, and he failed due to lack of mental fortitude.
Soccer is not easy at all. It is not about just kicking a ball back and forth. It requires extreme stamina, superb spatial intelligence and a touch of gold. You get very little space and decisions have to be taken within a second.
Basketball is easier than soccer because it does not even have half the tactical depth and technical requirements that soccer has. Basketball is almost entirely about physical strenght and the game is all about running up and down the field. Add to this there is no contact allowed. Baseball is very much the same; throw a ball, bat the ball and run around in circles. Low IQ crap. Soccer is an art.
that first touch being the most crucial with any part of the body allowable has to be sublime... and the very best players make those decisions before the ball has even reached them, some great technical players never make it because they lack the ability to think under pressure
all those other sports are hand eye coordination, hand/eye is what we as humans do since we are born...football requires foot/thigh/chest/head-eye coordination none of which are normal for humans, that takes it well above other sports for level of difficulty to master...
Yes. I have never played soccer on any level at all. I do play a lot of unorganised soccer with friends though and I have played 11-vs-11 on 11-aside-pitch and even on this low level of unorganised "barbeque football", you get a head ache from having to take split second decisions - pass or run? Run where? Pass where? Drop down or stay? Run to the space or stay in position? Press or mark? Shoot or cross? Basketball is simple. Not to take anything away from the Magic Johnsons, MJ:s, Iversens and Kobes who are all obviously top notch athletes and godlike ballers with divine powers, but basketball is a more braindead sport.
