I'm talking more about how they do as an assessment of whether they are up for this tournament, or not.

Not sure what's happened to my reading skills :s

    Also...omg http://www.eurosport.com/football/e...-in-astonishing-scenes_sto5651963/story.shtml

Croatia had the game in the bag until Vida decided that a handball would be a good idea, as well. It's so frustrating. At least Turkey's bad play will save them from being last, hopefully; Turkey's going to be completely fried by Spain tonight.

I take it all back about Spain.

Italy 2 - 0 Spain. A tactical masterclass from the masters of tactical masterclass, Italy. Spain's almost decade long reign as champions is over.

I told you... Italy has the best defence ever seen and Conte is a master tactician as he also showed at Juve. The game against Germany will be another epic battle though.

England is as unorganised as the British political system. If they manage to lose to Iceland it will be a feat as incredible as the Brexit.

The RTE commentators has some harsh but deserved words for the English team. I agreed with them that the amount of money is ruining the sport.

You wait, they will be saying it's because of too many foreigners in the premier league!

You must mean Eamon Dunphy (On the right of Dietmar Hamman on the panel). Dunphy is a notorious crank, footballing iconoclast, and mouthpiece. He was on form tonight, though. I thought the comment about players making enough money for a lifetime by 24, and just not having the passion, was spot on. Dietmar Hamman (former World Cup finalist) made a prudent point/joke: "Peter Scudamore sold a Skoda for a Lamborghini regarding the Premier League".

I switched over to BBC's coverage, and it was the usual panel of limp wristed ex-players who only criticised Hodgson, and as usual wouldn't lay any blame on their close friends the players. Alan Shearer, for once, stood out. He was angry. He is one of the first English pundits I have heard who admitted that the quality of the Premier League just isn't what people are being sold, and that the English players are simply not good enough (This isn't my green hat on, I am a huge fan of the PL). The majority of players are foreign (60%), and that outside of a fit Sturridge, would any of the top European clubs come looking for any of the current English squad? It has been thus for a long time. And Sky Sports have us all fooled into thinking that it is the best league in the World.

PS - Are you a Johnny foreigner in my Emerald Isle? I might call a Irexit to get rid of you!

I agree with everything in your post. I do hope we can cap salaries sooner or later.

Well, all jokes aside. What happens when the Bosman ruling doesn't apply to English leagues? What happens when the question of foreign work permits comes up? Does the Premier league get exemptions from what will be English law, as opposed to EU law, concerning such matters?

I love the league, I am lifelong Liverpool FC supporter (like half of North wales!). But the amounts of money in the English game now is beyond obscene. Sterling - £50 million? Lallana/Henderson - £25 million? Kane touted as £50m +. Me boll$*. Perhaps Brexit is what is needed to level the playing field a bit. If Leicester, a team worth £30m can beat all these billion pound clubs, and Iceland (pop. 3000,000) can beat that England team, again, collectively worth hundreds of millions; then there is something wrong with these, so called, elite players. £1-200,000 a week?

As we say in Ireland: Ask me bollíx.

Good Lord, not Cork? Have they brainwashed you yet into thinking you are a Rebel. If they call for Corexit, which is well overdue, I'll sit back and uncork a nice bottle of Pinot and say: off yez go ye shower of durty Langers!!

Not yet! They are very proud though. I like the city. But coming from Denmark it wasn't much of change to be honest. Just more rain and less sun.

Ah, they are great people. You know where you stand with a Corkonian. No bluff or bluster. Mad as a box of frogs. But great craic!

One more for Blighty! - 'To leave Europe once may be regarded as a misfortune. To leave twice in a week looks like carelessness.'

ofc I love soccer but I call it football because it actually deserves the name rather than our american egg ball.

as of euro 2016 it is all a set up. there is some dirty money flying around in those matches and france name is written all over it.

speaking of france and other NATIONAL countries, they need to come up with a rule on these foriegn players getting citizenship then playing in national matches. I mean comeon how can you have national matches when all of your team is foreign born with no decent or little decent.

Who would have predicted that at this point in the tournament a Wales v Iceland final would still be a possibility.

Funny old world, and all that!

Seriously, I'll kill myself if Portugal wins this. They are ridiculously awful and absolutely horrendous. And if they manage to win the whole thing without even scoring after 90 mins I'll just...Ugh. Noooo way!
