I just want to say, no one learns that in any classroom, not the ones I've been in anyway. People like to cherry pick facts to put themselves on the right side of history.

The Europeans knew exactly what they were doing, and were very good at it. It is disgusting that someone would try to blame the Africans for being enslaved. That is what I learned in my history classes in the south eastern US.

I think those who lived & endured slavery personally, were entitled to reparations. I am saddened by the fact that the law enabling that was ignored. I don't feel descendants to those former slaves are owed reparations, because they never experienced the nightmare themselves, & they have access to opportunities never available to their ancestors. I AM sensitive to the fact that blacks in America still face some severe racist-based challenges, but they've come a long way since Rosa Parks, and I'm hopeful for their continued success.

$97 Trillion is the agreed total amongst the subscribers. Be it Dems or Reps it matters not as it was WHITE FOLK who enslaved blacks not dems or reps. So white folk should pay. Anybody with white parents should be the ones to pay, or rather not receive a payment from the treasury.

People have been enslaving and conquering each other for ever, yes. The Europeans were the ones who introduced commercialized slavery to west Africa and fueled the Atlantic slave trade.

Well, not a lot had been written by Black Africans about Black Slavery (or anything else) because they didn't have indigenous written language. Kind of a draw-back. Nevertheless, if you seriously dispute the well-known FACT that Black African tribes had been practicing slavery among those of their own race for thousands of years before Europeans and Middle-Easterners started buying them, I could hope that at least you would provide a LINK to your information.

Then what about the Irish, the Chinese, the Native Americans, and all the millions more who feel they have been wronged by the way things were back in the old, old days? We could be an entire country of victims, and all get our fair share of reparations of some sort.

 

You really think socialists would allow freedom of speech? The little up ans coming socialists being taught at our colleges and universities don't even tolerate free speech. Once they control government, they will decide what you or i are allowed to say, do, think or feel.
