Don't we all know how a lot of our conservative forum members feel about universities as leftist indoctrination centers? Or aren't you actually reading those forum posts?

I am actually a professor doing biomedical research. The last assault on the NIH came from GWB, who kept the NIH budget flat, while inflation eroded away research dollars. Since then, funding lines have gone from 25% to 8%. So, yes, a lot of great biomedical research is not being done because of a lack of funding. That lack of funding comes from GOP efforts to save tax-payer's money, while at the same time giving it away to the corps as tax cuts.

 

There are no cures. Fauci said as much. Although chloroquine may have some promise, it is disservice right now to peddle "cures", which make people feel complacent, so they keep spreading the virus.

 

Your universities are wasting gobs of money on administraitors and other nonsense. They should be contributing significantly more funding to support the research of their faculty

 

And may kill some people as well

 

I agree with that. 50% of each research dollar I bring in goes to administrators as overhead.

 

Your body has the cure.
Your body also creates the inflammatory response that can kill you.
You should know this, being in biomedical research and all.

 

So there is waste everywhere government and education are involved.

I like the one about massive dosages of chocolate truffles being the most promising elixer, but await the confirmation of "deep state" experts like Dr Fauci regarding all such rumors. Of course, it would be wonderful if hydroxychloroquine or some other existing drug proves efficacious, but that will be for those with medical expertise to determine, not for devious political hucksters.

LOL! I am not a virologist. I have no expertise in developing vaccines and antivirals. You realize that people spend lifetimes becoming experts in these fields. You don't just wake up one morning and say "Okay, I am now developing a anti-covid drug". That's not how it works.

But, at least, unlike you, I am not on here peddling unproven "cures", just in an effort to protect the guy in the WH you voted for and you are so emotionally attached to.

At least, you could show us that you were able to google what biomedical research is. Good for you, maybe you learned something.
