Why can't a woman kill her BORN kid in order to have life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

Women have no control over the abortion procedure. They're not in control. The doctor is.

 

Well we don't have a bill of rights. Which means that we don't have a right to privacy, but we also don't have cops accessing our houses with master keys. If such a right as 'the right to privacy' was so important, then why isn't it an explicit RIGHT in the Constitution? I would take no issue with such a right, but that doesn't mean I support it being invented out of thin air.

The NYT has an article today about a former evangelical woman who went through the horrors of sex shaming and religious indoctrination about sex. Its worth a read because it goes to the heart of this slut shaming that is part of the pro-life argument. You cannot separate women's reproductive rights and the rise of contraception and legalized abortion. All of these came to a head in the 70s when woman finally controlled their own sexual lives and certain religions freaked out. More than any single issue, the Moral Majority made abortion its central theme. When Falwell and Ronnie married themselves to each other and created the modern conservative political movement, women became their target.

If America had always been pro abortion there would have been an amendment specifically protecting it and listing it as an absolute right. There was never a time when such an amendment would have passed but we may be nearing that point. If and when anti abortion is no longer the predominant will of the people the radical left will no longer be the real minority in this country.
