    Wow.

Trump didn't order the evacuation of the Bagram air base leaving all that equipment behind. Biden did that.

    Liberals are evil.

And the Biden administration abandoned American citizens and allies who supported the effort. This is the most disgraceful action ever order by a POTUS.

Just the other day Biden promised that they would stay until all American citizens were evacuated. He broke that promise and now people will be murdered by the Taliban. No one will hold them accountable either.

From what I heard many were trying to get to the airport but couldn’t because of the terrorist threats.

just like Republicans have to eventually abandon Americans to a storm, they made their choice to stay, we will do our best to help them in the future if they request it, but they made their choices

how many American soldiers lives did you want to risk staying to save 100 or so people that choose to stay rather then leave when told too

Maybe you should start watching Fox News instead of being spoon fed propaganda. In not Fox, then the NY Post. Monday evening, that's right now, correct?

Humaine society raised 1.4 out of 1.6 million to get them rescued.

Wasn't enough time and we know what Muslim fundamentalists think of dogs anyway.

Let's not generalize that way..... this is an all round bad situation with a lot of people share responsibility .....including the weak Afghan Gvo't.....that walked out.

But this country MUST learn some hard lessons from this.

Left him? The guy is a deserter. He left us.

Biden finished what 3 other presidents could not accomplish. 20 yrs was way to long to fight a war.

Hmmm he had a car bomb pull into a base. He didn't leave americans there without support, then send thousands more back in, get over 200 innocents killed, then leave Americans again.

Look catch up the Genaral in charge said there are 200-300 Americans that wanted out that couldn't get to the airport in the last two days. Biden said they would stay until all the Americans were out. He lied, the military left.

Indeed he did. That alone is aplus. There were no guarantees than any typeof completion was going to go smoothly. The red flags came up when the taliban starting to take over with such speed....... and there was little fighting from the Afghan military. There were enough "surprise" elements that could have challenged the most efficient of withdrawals. The variable s w ere complex. What is learned from this ........is important now.

America is OUT of AFGHANISTAN now........... lets see what it all looks like when the dust settles. There is certainly plenty of drama from the MSM...

There wasn't a red flag when Biden pulled the military the first time in the dead of the night abandoning Americans? There wasn't a red flag that the peaceful city Kabul had been turned into a **** show because we didn't even provide air support to the Afghan military. It wasn't a red flag when we sent 13k more troops in to get our people out and we in turn let the freaking guys we had been fighting handle security to the airport. Look giving any credit to this **** show is absurd.

Only our current president is accountable for abandoning American citizens and allies behind enemy lines.

I address these points in particular.

    1) Firstly point to those specific terms in the treaty. Exactly where are they? Because as I said I haven't seen any analyst do so. Secondly they were already 'in' every province'! Name one province where they didn't already have an active presence prior to the signing of the agreement. Thirdly where's the evidence they are currently actively supporting other groups. No-ones claimed they supported the ISIS attack on the airport and the US got a pretty quick tip off on where the operatives responsible might be. The proof of your claim one way or other will be in the next few months after they have consolidated they're position. They've been put on notice about the likely consequences of being caught out doing that. We'll see.

    2) Again we have no proof of what they may have 'got' one way or the other. You don't know the specifics yet and neither does anyone else. Again that should become clear pretty soon though because you can bet the relevant commanders will be asked exactly this question by the Senate very quickly.

    3) There is a new batch of leaders (the war had been going on for 20 years) and the coalition did mange to knock off quite a few of the original leadership as the war progressed. But yes, that said some of the old guard have been released form prison. Again we'll see how successful they are at assuming their old leadership positions of power. What makes you think the guys running the show now while they were all locked up are going to so keen to just hand over the keys. That's not human nature - anywhere. As for epiphany? Who said anything about an epiphany? Instead you just chose to ignore the bit I posted about the pressing need to keep the country running now they're in power and assuming they don't care. Again we'll see what wins out (naked self interest or ideology) soon enough.

And this decision is important because 'newsflash', large parts of the population do care, even amongst their supporters. And now they don't have the coalition bankrolling everything. As I said they could well face they're own internal revolt if they're not careful. In some parts of the country they already are! And if they really don't care about sanctions and the economy falling apart? Fine. As I said we'll know soon enough won't we. But what I'm not going to do is jump to conclusions without evidence. They've already been told sanctions are in the offing if human rights violations etc become common.

    4) Same as the above we'll see. Personally? IMO the odds aren't good that woman's rights in general and their ability to access services and access services like education etc will be maintained. But then the consequences for that decision are already on the table. In the country those rights may well be more or less a lost cause. But in the cities it's not nearly so cut and dried. And its the cities that matter. So again we'll see what matters more to the Taliban leadership. Maintaining their hard won control & power or inflicting widespread human rights violations and and facing crippling actions. Their choice. The jury is not in - yet. Interesting times.

    5) I'm not shifting blame - your just ignoring history. Biden has full responsibility for the withdrawal. That was on his watch and yes he botched it. That said even if it had run like clockwork the Taliban were always going to end up exactly where they are now if not last week then in a few months at most. Or do you disagree?

Because without the ongoing support of the US Military and yes all that money the Afgan army was always going to throw in the towel and fade away. Or do you really think they would have made a fight of it?.

Secondly (and these are simple facts) Biden did not start the war, he was not responsible for the overall conduct of the war or the rebuilding efforts that ran in parallel with it and he did not negotiate and sign the peace agreement with the Taliban that he was bound to implement. One which as far as I can tell does not include any of the specific do not cross/lines in the sand provisions you seem to claim.
