But he is not the one that is administering it. He is not even in the same ****ing city as the patient. He has never actually seen the patient in person

But just the opposite happened, a judge, the ultimate authority, has now dictated medical procedures.

And it is about so much more than this one case, it is about the precedent that is now set. You all are now saying that it is good for judges to dictate what a hospital and doctors do on a daily basis.

No, he's allowing a doctor to treat a patient that the hospital was preventing from treating the patient.

Wrong again. He allowed a medical procedure. You are all turned around on this to try and prove some political point.

No, his wife also does not get to tell the hospital exactly what drugs and treatment to use.

He did not "allow it" he ordered it to happen.

You all are the ones making it political, not me.

So he is controlled by the hospital and his wife can take a flying leap?

Yeah, pretty much. Every ****ing week patients try and tell my wife how to do her job, most of the time it is about the type of pain meds they get". Should she just ignore the doctors at the hospital and do whatever the patient ask for?

In all likelihood, the hospital may have already killed this man by restricting treatment and allowing the disease to progress this far. Remdesivir doesn't seem to work all that well, and that's what the hospital dictated anyway, likely because they get a large cut of the more expensive medicine. I hope this works and he recovers.

You seem to keep forgetting the patient consulted with a pulmonologist who did recommend this treatment.

In my recent hospitalizations, the doctors asked me to approve my treatment. Had I not approved, it would have perhaps been different. In the case of this married couple, she would be his guardian. If you told the truth about them being married. Did you tell the truth?

Research shows remdesivir treatment for COVID-19 has little impact on survival, increases hospital stay
    https://medicine.uiowa.edu/content/...has-little-impact-survival-increases-hospital
A new study finds that remdesivir, the first new medicine approved for treatment of COVID-19, is not associated with improved survival, but is associated with longer hospital stays for patients.

The research, led by Michael Ohl, MD, MSPH, associate professor of internal medicine in the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, raises concerns that remdesivir treatment may have increased utilization of hospital beds when they were scarce during the COVID-19 pandemic—without clear improvements in survival.

Yes, a doctor that has never seen the patient recommend this treatment, but was not going to do the treatment himself. A hospital cannot operate if anyone from anywhere with a MD is allowed to dictate what they do with each individual patient.

It depends on the papers signed by him/her for treatment approval.

The researchers note this means the results may not be generalizable to all patients who receive remdesivir.

My daughter is a Registered Nurse and she and I discussed my treatment and she told me what was happening and why. And she did not approve it but I felt much better with her helping me.

They have to approve the treatment, they do not get to dictate it. If not approved then they can leave the hosptial.
