Why do white people vote democrat?

Was it the GOP admiring and supporting KKK Grand Dragon Larry Byrd for decades?
Was it the GOP that warmly eulogized Robert Byrd, saying he was “one of my mentors” and that “the Senate is a lesser place for his going.
Was it the GOP that said, if you don't vote for me, you ain't black
Was it the GOP that claimed, unlike the African American community, Latino's are incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things?
Was it the GOP that claimed forced busing to desegregate schools would cause their children to “grow up in a racial jungle?
Was it the GOP that said Obama was a ‘light-skinned’ African American ‘with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one?
Was it the GOP that stated White folks was in caves while we was building empires… We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it?
Was it the GOP who said Clarence Thomas was “A handkerchief-head, chicken-and-biscuit-eating Uncle Tom.”?

Sure inequalities exist. That is no reason to eliminate admission tests to elite high schools. Being a poor black kid hardly seems like a qualification for an elite high school. He will just take up space that could have gone to an Asian kid with a demonstrated ability to excel. It's not good for the Asian kid. It's not even good for the black kid who is going to end up at the bottom of the class because he lacks the preparation. And it is not good for the country.

I don't disagree. But at least Trump pretended to like the White working class. The Progressives here have nothing but scorn for them.

Before 1900 Republicans had seated 22 African Americans in Congress. From 1901 to 1971 they seated a whole two more. Yep, two. Since then another 9 (one of those is a double up - Tim Scott has been in both chambers). These numbers only cover voting members.

In that same period Democrats have seated over 125 African Americans in Congress. One of them went on to become Vice President & one President. Over 50 sit in Congress at the moment, compared to a whole three for the GOP.

 

It's kind of funny to place two Presidential election maps together: one from just before the civil rights movement and one just after. They are practically mirror images. Not only that, but it is basically the former Confederate states vs the rest of the country in both cases.

I grew up around KKK members. There's no mistaking how much they hate liberals and which party they now align with. I don't hold that against the GOP, but I do wish they would quit pretending make believe that it ain't so.
