I really do not see the point of your examples. There has been a long history of white people playing ethnic parts since the beginning of the industry. How many times was Charlie Chan been played by white actors? How many Persians were in the Prince of Persia? How many Hindi in Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves? How many Egyptians in all of the Mummy franchises, Exodus, Gods of Egypt movies? Hollywood is constantly getting called out for white washing in movies like Dr. Strange, The Last Avatar, Ghost in the Shell, The Martian, etc...

As for kneeling, white people are free to participate and often do. No one is excluding whites from kneeling so how do they have less rights in this example?

I just think referring to people as white strips people of culture.

White can mean so much. Jewish, British, German etc are all much more meaningful terms.

The same is true of Asian or Black.

"attacking" is your interpretation. I don't think the serious people (extremist nutjobs are irrelevant) consider themselves as doing that.

Ever see that movie where John Wayne plays Genghis Khan? Ouch.

Or Andy Rooney in the super-racist Breakfast at Tiffany's? Cringe.

I'm certain you just cued a blog article about how US' black and brown people are responsible for the slaughter of Ukrainians.

Maybe Putin is mad because an American second class citizen bought the last piece of cake when he was six years old and since they were visiting from the Ukraine...well, you see how that clearly proves the above the "theory".

I disagree, it's become hate speech

not sure why you clipped my post? don't you think it's also wrong to attack black actors, saying they only got hired because of black privalage?

Before I comment, can you please define "us"? I have also highlighted it in your post I quoted in case English is not your primary language.
It would be helpful to have a very thorough definition of "us". Thanks.

Just because you want to see it that way does not mean it is intended that way.

To me, privilege is best thought about in terms of social mobility.

Can you achieve a better outcome than your parents?

The numbers on this website show that it is easier for people from white families to do that,

does intent matter for the n-word too, wrong is wrong, regardless of race

Does it though? For speech, context makes a big different. I do not know if it is a simple black and white issue. (BTW I do not mean black and white in terms of race)

does it? so if Trump used the n-word in the exact same context as Obama did, it would be ok?

or would it be equally wrong for both?

Context does include who is using it. The thinking with the N word is that black people can use it, or forms of it, without being offensive.

The reasoning is, some things are appropriate for someone to say and not for others. In the simplest example you may call your wife or girlfriend many things that would be inappropriate for a stranger to use. The words are identical but the difference is the context or circumstance of who is using the word. The stranger can't say to your wife "you should not be offended because I just heard your husband call you the same thing".

You can continue to expand the examples. Certain things are appropriate with family, friends, community and race. It is kind of one of the many nuances of our language. To make in a simple black and white issue is ignoring the quirks of language.

They don't have to. White democrats have a compulsion to because they think blacks are so inferior they have to have white democratic saviors I guess.

I disagree, even if Trump had the same intent as Obama, it would still be wrong, wrong is wrong

Offensive speech does not necessary need to be racist speech. You are making that connection. If you are referring to the N word I believe that there is debate even within the black community if it should be used at all. There is a history of the word being used as a racial slur but obviously there recent examples the word used in a context non attacking racial manner.

For example if you are doing a reading of the Adventures of Huck Finn people may find the N word offensive but you are not using it as a racial slur.

I don't think any word should be banned just because someone is offended. We make a huge mistake giving words that kind of power.

I kind of agree with you. That is why I keep saying the context in how words are used is important. I do not support the efforts of people pushing to rewrite books like Mark Twain's Hick Finn.
