The imposition of this universal system under elites with messianic illusions, is what the war in Ukraine is really about.

The areas East of Moscow were sparsely populated, and most of the wars were probably to protect the Christians living there. So was it expansion, or was it to thwart the expansion of Islam?

When the Russians needed land or their freedom they could always move Eastwards. When Western Europeans tried to expand eastwards they were stopped by the Russians - which would account for the animosity they have towards Russia today. The problems resulted from the Church schism in the 11th century and the Popes who wanted to put the Orthodox Christians under Rome.

Today these federal regions in Russia all have a good relation with Moscow, as is obvious with the Chechens who are even willing to give up their lives to support Mother Russia. This is to Washington's chagrin who would like nothing more than to grab Russia's wealth in a way that would not benefit Moscow. Aggression, triumphism? Of course!
