When he serves in a real war I will do that. I'm 63 and I would have that coward tapping out in 2 minutes. Same for Buttigieg.

So, the guy who introduced the resolution actually knows what he is talking about.
    Good! 8)

Here is another one. He's a big neocon but was too much of a coward to ever serve. He was too busy doing missionary work in France. Converting the French to the LDS what a laugh.

If some nuke is used in that area....you can pretty much expect residual radiation to reach neighboring states....Chornobyl is an example, then boots on the ground is definitely in the cards.

    "Overseeing their cleanup operations"?

We're talking about Russkis here....good luck with that, they're good at destroying....not rebuilding or cleanup. I can't see how Ukraine gets rebuilt after this....even though with frozen oligarch $$$?

According Scientific American there are a about 13000 bomb available to both sides and an average strength of about kilotons seems not unreasonable

    https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-many-nuclear-weapons-exist-and-who-has-them/

    That seems enough to me

Have you been reading The Book of Eli or A Canticle for Leibowitz again?

Interesting to know that you want to "tap out" Buttigieg, but we're not here to judge you.

I have an idea. Offer Eric Swalwell the choice of going to a federal prison for being a traitor or serving in the Ukrainian military. Why are you big talking patriots not outraged that a congressman screwed a spy? Oh yeah China doesn't count. Only Russia!

13,000 is the number that includes nukes in storage. The U.S. and Russia have about 6,000 each. But, each have only about 1,500 that are ready to go. 1,500 on each side is pretty much what the war would be fought with, as nuclear storage facilities would be the number 1 target on both sides. ;)

They will be rebuilt because we will pay for it. 80% and Europe will kick in 20%. As usual. :applause:

Most of what Congress does these days is prance around trying to get attention.

He's the political equivalent of a mosquito, annoying, not significant.

You, people, should realize that Russians threaten the world with nukes because they are very afraid of the nuclear war themselves and believe others think the same way.
Such resolution just expresses the support for dramatic escalation of the war if Russia uses WMDs. While it carries a relatively small risk, the odds are good that it would restrain Russia, not provoke it.

If Russia uses chemical biological or nuclear weapons we will be at war.

I doubt that it will be at all popular with ordinary American voters.
Nevertheless, seeking a formal declaration of war from Congress is the entirely legal way for America to go to war.

How exactly are we to "work overtime to end this conflict"? Putler will not stop until he either has victory or has exhausted his military capacity to fight this war, and he is very likely going to order mass mobilization on Victory Day to that end. Lavrov likes to say that we will fight this war until the last Ukrainian. Well, he is projecting Russian thinking onto us -- the Russian leadership will push their forces into this Ukrainian meat grinder until they have none left to push. This is how Russia fights wars. They sacrifice their soldiers by the truckload until they achieve victory or total defeat.

Pilots, especially tanker pilots, tend to have a rather detached view of war unless they have to bail out of their cushy cockpits.

And telling the voters of America, is very useful to them! We are supposed to know what our candidates are willing to do with our boys, and our toys in sufficient time to let them know what we are not willing to allow them to do!

I am an admirer of Kinzinger, but I sure would be giving him an earful if I were his constituant.

That does seem to be Putin's plan.

Why Russia Won’t Stop | Peter Zeihan on Putin’s Failing War

Russia's Challenges in the Ukraine War

by Peter Zeihan on April 29, 2022

Russia and its military have lagged considerably behind the Ukrainians in several categories: logistics, communications, and especially in metabolizing and deploying new technology, such as drones.

It is especially in this latter instance where #Kyiv has shown a remarkable nimbleness over Moscow.

But the battle is now shifting to an artillery tit-for-tat in eastern Ukraine, where Stingers and short-range drones will be less useful for the Ukrainians.

It is also exactly the kind of battle that the Russians have trained for, and is why I believe my overall assessment will still hold: that the Russians will ultimately overrun the Ukrainians, especially as the conflict moves past May.

Russia's lagging technological prowess has several historical analogues.

One of the best known is the Battle of Crimea, a battle that Russia ultimately lost. The outcome isn't what I want to highlight here, but rather that Russia spent years and roughly half a million lives until it surrendered.

In conflicts that Russia deems necessary to its survival--against Napoleon, the Brits and the French, the Germans, Hitler--the Russians will fight until they simply cannot fight any longer.

Do not expect the current war in Ukraine to be any different.

Please don’t confuse defensive wars with a war of aggression.
Russians are good at defending their homeland, but Finland and Afghanistan proved that they suck at aggressive wars.

The war in Ukraine is a way for democrats who constantly slander our country and have no regard for our borders to act patriotic and tough. I think some of these idiots really think Putin cost Hillary the election in 2016.

I agree that they're obviously not much good at fighting an offensive war, but that is beside the point. They won't let that stop them.

Perhaps I missed it but when did Ukraine become our 51st state? Can people stop talking about that country like they are? That is a stupid neocon tactic. Like republicans bashing Biden over Afghanistan. They talked about that country like it belongs to us. It does not.

Nobody cared when Putin helped himself to Crimea. Where was the outrage then? Territorial integrity?
