    ~ I look back a year or two and compare. If I see a constant misleading agenda, opinions presented as facts, " fake facts" and/or easily verified false information I stop looking at those particular sources.
    :police: By the way — if something is " Guaranteed or your money back ! " you can be assured it will not do as promised .

    this is to stop Russian propaganda from entering the US populace

    sadly, it seems many fall for that Russian propaganda

    nothing wrong with identifying Disinformation and releasing that info to the public

    as long as it's an honest assessment, unlike when Trump did it and called the news fake news if he did not like their reporting the truth

    So you are okay with democrats being in charge of what’s true, but not republicans? I trust no politician on the planet to tell me the truth.

    I am ok with both setting up a group, and releasing the truth - I am against either using it to spread lies

    Yeah, you have perfectly described the problem. We already have a blue truth and red truth. Nothing about this changes anything except giving the occupant in the WH power to do something with their version of truth.

    There’s your truth;
    Their Truth;
    My Truth;
    THE TRUTH;
    Objective Truth;
    My ex wife’s truth.
    The truth is, all truth is subjective opinion.

    Not all. There do exist objective facts.

    The government isn’t where I will ever look to find them.

    some group has to address Russia and other countries spreading propaganda in this country, that is just the reality of it

    if you think something a dem or repub release is fake, one is free to say so

    there should be fact checkers checking the government

    bipartisan, left and right fact checkers.....

    We don't need so-called fact checkers being government employees

    I don't give a damn who the fact checker is if it's a partisan office left or right, there's going to be an agenda inserted into it.

    Having the government decide what's true and what's false should scare the hell out of anyone with two brain cells to rub together.

    The government should not be in charge of doing your thinking for you

    that is why both are needed, left and right and bipartisan fact checkers

    but our government has to go after the other countries infiltrating our social media to spread propaganda

    the gov doesn't decide, the gov releases what they see as the truth based on the known facts, if they lie, the public calls them on it and they look like fools, remember Trump and Sharpe Gate?

    12 pages and nobody has identified anything that would amount to a violation of the first amendment.

    Do you think that it has to violate the 1st amendment for this to be wrong? So long as it doesn't violate a Right then all is good in da neighborhood?

    ~ That is exactly the intention ... :blankstare:
    ~ Government is the source of much fake propaganda/information — including the USA. The Covid19 debacle is the latest example.
    TRUMP-O did us all a favor pointing out the tainted news. Many were unsure how much was real or fake in reporting — now we know. { Think Russia Collusion Delusion & recent misinformation regarding the border as example } :disbelief:'

    A lot of people have been saying it violates the First. If you aren’t saying that, fine.

    I don’t say this is a good idea. I’m just challenging people who claims it violates the First to prove it.

    At this point it isn't doing anything. But once it gets going it will have an effect on speech. Slowly at first. As time goes on it will gain more power. And with that power it will have a greater effect. When it ends up violating the 1st Amendment it will be too late. It will have been around for decades and people will have gotten used to it, even rely on it. At best. And yes, I say "when". Not "if".

    yes, Trump played it down early on, then over played it, then played it down, they tried to be reasonable.... but by then, no one was listening to him

    Who said this is a full time job? It's a brand new board trying to prevent disinformation.... it's not an Amazon fulfillment center.

    This is the Federal Government. My guess is by the time this board decides exactly what their parameters and outcomes will be, her kid will be in universal pre K and thinking about her very first abortion...

    I think ya'll need to calm down and see what develops, but that level of patience clearly runs against your grain...

    And I would agree with your second point. But that is a wish, not a solution. We all know that there is dangerous misinformation floating, and it does impact our society. I want something done - I want people held accountable.

    And the last people you should depend on to do that is the government whether they are left or right.

    IF it ever violates the 1st, it will be taken to court and lose.
    Simple as that. As of now, there is no indication it will have any powers that could violate the 1st.

    LOL.. OK Mr. Madison... as you seem to agree with that premise, what non-government entity/entities should be holding people accountable for misinformation??

    P.S. this is NOT disinformation

    Why would they NOT make this a full time job? Why ask a woman to give up her most valued time with her newborn for some stupid gov job? A part time job fighting disinformation is a hilarious notion. If you trust the gov to give out what is and isn’t misinformation you have bigger problems.
