No, the court is clearly wrong and is sentencing a poor teenage girl to a lifelong responsibility she neither wants nor is ready for. It is truly monstrous for a court in the civilised world to treat a child like this. I am appalled. What a crappy and backwards law.
Sounds like you're being kind silly and ridiculous. You keep acting like she has no choice other than to keep the baby. Maybe you view it as "cruel" to "make her" give up her baby? Well, no crueler than aborting it is.
What bloody baby? There is no baby, there is only a fetus and the court ruling is leaving her with no other option than carrying it to terms. It is a disgusting decision that violates all of her rights and something that one would only expect from a theocratic regime. This should never happen in a civilised country. Abortion is not cruel in any sense of the word whatsoever. Forcing a teenager (a child) to carry a pregnancy to term because "she is not mature to make such big decisions herself" is the definition of cruelty.
There is no excuse for discounting the girl's view. Having legislatures decide that women and doctors are to be ignored is just plain unacceptable. And, if you think the girl's view needed to be better informed, then you can spend your time opposing Republicans who work to keep sex education out of school.
I'm open to the idea of doctors having input into the decision. Are you? Reality: No you are not. The big question here is, was this a doctor the female went to after it was realized she might "need" an abortion? Because in that case it sounds like the woman is choosing the doctor who will choose the decision she wants. It's disingenuous to claim the doctor has a role in making the decision, in that situation.
LOL - you make an accusation that I have consistently argued against over and over again. Then YOU take the position you falsely accuse me of holding!!!

Sigh. The loonies on both sides must be filled to overflowing with mentally disturbed people like this. It seems to be a “me thinks though doth protest too much,” thing we should start studying. So freaking scary. It was a aHouse episode, the leader of a save-the-sex-trafficking charity was the leader of a ring. Perhaps it’s real.
It is part of a doctor's job to give input and recommendation on procedures, but the final decision is always the patient's. Abortions are, however, very safe and there are few instances where doctors would need to not recommend it. The big question is actually why you put the word need in quotations. The girl is 16 years old and has her entire life ahead of her and does not want to have baby. She very much needs it.
Your definition of "need" is very different from the Conservative Pro-Life version of the word. To me, it seems like a child claiming "I need cookies!"
And what is the meaning of the Conservative Pro-Life version of the word? Do you mean a child outside or inside the womb? See what happens when you misuse concepts?
Yes, it would to YOU but you are NOT the pregnant one.....so what it "seems like" to you is totally irrelevant...
When pro lifers are faced with the adoption question, most will back pedal like a liberal being asked to house the homeless. Projecting an image of concern is not the same thing as genuine concern.
We have over 400,000 kids in foster care in the US. If everyone who claims to be pro adoption, was actually pro adoption, we'd not have such a surplus of kids waiting.
How about this, if we federally funded adoptions instead of abortions, there would be fewer kids in foster care and slaughtered by their mothers in utero. furthermore, the Democrats’ insistence on an unsecured southern border is causing the opioid crisis, which is in turn causing the foster care crisis.
Frightening that, on an individual basis, the government can determine maturity levels and base their decisions about their lives on that determination. Small government my a$$.
The government already does this in numerous different ways. Yet you only seem to care about it when it involves abortion. So, I think what you have a problem with isn't truly the issue of government determining maturity levels. You only support her making the decision because you think she should make that decision in the first place.
Please provide an example of when/where a government has made a decision based upon maturity level rather than age.
They certainly should consider maturity level! Anyone who knows anything about kids knows one 16 year old can be far less mature than another.
