Yeah, I’ve made lots of unpopular (here) suggestions of how to keep guns out of the hands of criminals like a national FOID card, as it is anyone can buy ammo. For any transfer of gun ownership a background check needs to be done. The NICS could be done on line as well as a 4473 filled out. If the gun is used illegally the last legal owner could be held accountable if not reported stolen. A rule of only purchasing one gun a month would ruin a straw purchaser’s business model. Outlaw ghost guns, they are becoming more popular with gangs. Also outlawing over 10 round magazines and requiring gun owners to have liability insurance (it’s cheap) would be nice. But, as it is with this echo chamber, it’s all about their imagined FREEDOM and their heightened sense of personal danger being unarmed. I’ve run the numbers in the past that an old white guy’s chances of being a gun homicide are roughly the same as someone in Germany, which is not much and not very convincing to them. They do, though, have much greater odds of putting a bullet in their own brain pan.
So, now we should be proud because on woman saved her kid and forget the other 300+ kids that were killed, right?
Lucky1knows also does not understand how our freedoms and right to have them works. The government is supposed to be protecting our freedoms and not bestowing us with what freedoms they think we should have.
The first thing that needs to happen for anyone to change is for that person to realize that they may be wrong in their thinking and given that would require accepting you are not the best you can be (you can make mistakes), it does not happen. Ego is a horrible thing in life 10 Reasons Why ‘Too Much Ego’ Will Ruin Your Life We sometimes let our ego lead our lives until it somehow destroys it. There’s a big difference between confidence and ego. Confidence is healthy, ego is destructive. There’s a famous expression: ‘Too much ego will kill your talent,’ but it will not only kill your talent, it will kill you career, your relationships and your happiness. Too much ego can actually ruin your life. Here’s why: 1. It makes you less compassionate. 2. It pushes people away from you. 3. It stops you from growing. 4. It blocks love from coming into your life. 5. It makes you irrational. 6. It makes you competitive in an unhealthy way. 7. It makes you critical. 8. It makes you greedy. 9. It only adds more stress. 10. It kills your happiness. Too much ego being seen here, in my own personal opinion.
Freedom at a cost is not freedom. Having risk in order to have freedom, means you are paying for your freedom.
Gun control advocates have been shown, repeatedly, that none of their suggestions would have any effect on the ability of criminals to easily obtain every kind of firearm. For instance: “The men managed to produce lethal firearms from scratch Sentencing, Judge Susan Tapping said the operation was "of the gravest possible seriousness". She said: "Creating firearms like this had only one objective and that was to be sold to criminal customers who wished to use them with live ammunition.” BBC, Men jailed over UK's 'first' gun factory in Hailsham unit, Published, 8 May 2019. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-sussex-48202765 At this point the only commen sense solution for violent crime, including gun crime, is to eliminate all the irrational gun laws that discourage the general population from carrying concealed handguns to defend themselves and stop violent criminals in the act. A rational government of the people would have encouraged the general public to start carrying concealed handguns decades ago when if first became obvious that professional armed police could not keep the peace. Think it through.
I still correspond privately with some on the forum. It's become a leftist echo chamber though, so I like a few of my friends' posts but like you, you couldn't pay me to post there. The owners need to clean house and get rid of all the crooked "volunteers" who abuse the rules to punish those they don't like.
You outright stated that the US has the highest number of gun deaths in the world. So don't try to backpedal now when you've been proven wrong. And you're right gun control does work. .. keep your sights lined up and gently squeeze the trigger don't jerk.
It should be given that man has no rights over other men. All men are created equal, no? and even if there is a price, should that price be giving up the life of another innocent person? Would that be a price YOU would be willing to pay?
Their goal isn't stop crimes. Their goal is to control. They can't abuse an armed population like they want to abuse them. America doesn't have a crime problem: a few zip codes do. 'Those are the findings of the Crime Prevention Research Center. Homicide rates have spiked, but most of America has remained untouched. Only a tiny fraction of U.S. counties account for nearly all of the country’s homicides, according to research released Tuesday that showed a striking concentration where killings take place.' 'The worst 5% of counties accounted for 73% of homicides. 52% of counties recorded no homicides in 2020, and another 16% recorded only a single killing.' 'There are vast swathes of the country where violent crime is very very rare, and small areas of the country where it is common.' https://hotair.com/david-strom/2023...ve-a-crime-problem-a-few-zip-codes-do-n525065 'YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE UTTERLY IGNORANT TO SUPPORT GUN CONTROL, BUT — OH, WHO AM I KIDDING, YES YOU DO': After Two Mass Shootings, California Rep. Judy Chu Demands Gun Control Laws That Are Already On the Books. https://instapundit.com/566119/
So this is what you propose? and have you thought about the consequences of arming teachers, and other?
So you're calling me a liar saying that you did not claim that we have the highest rate of gun murders in the world? I just want you to go on record stating that so I can shred your claim again . Even for a progressive liberal the audacity of the level of your projection is completely astounding
This is not how you framed your O/P thread premise though! What you said below is way different than what you are saying now. How come?
@Lucky1knows Here you are stating your completely false claim again. Now tell me I'm lying about it again.
Because when he has been proven repeatedly incorrect instead of simply admitting that he had bad information or was willfully pushing disinformation.... He would rather move the goal post and say that other people are lying.
The statement needs "clarification". We are the highest in gun deaths in nations that are industrial, large, and Democratic. Small countries such as found in South America that have drug cartels, Autocratic leaders, and that are in a state of disorder with their laws, do have higher rates of gun deaths.
Even if you are right and we are not the number one in the world, our problem with guns is still huge Now, argue against those statistics,
Then you should have said that to begin with instead of simply calling me a liar when I proved you wrong. Or at the very least accusing me of dishonesty and lying. But that's okay. I'll just Mark you down as one who does not gracefully accept defeat in a debate. Lots of people around here would rather eat a steaming pile of dog feces than admit that they were wrong and then they'd have a second helping before they would apologize for falsely accusing someone. But you can continue to prove that statement correct
I'm not going to argue against statistics that I never claimed I'll leave that to you because that's your specialty.
