Yeah well, we got there in the end! Again, I'm sorry that I missed your admission. Oh, she's inserting the breast implants herself is she? She's tattooing herself is she? Hair dyeing is the only example there because she is in control of that as she is doing it herself, or at least doing it herself is a common way of doing it. But even then, if hair dye was banned for whatever reason, would you say that women have lost the right to bodily autonomy? What if cosmetic surgery and tattooing was banned? Well I would not call the resulting life a "victim." The woman is the victim when she is raped.
It is clear that you have not thought of or understand how “a matter of self-determination of a human being over her own body”, “a matter of what happens to my body is within my control and mine alone” or a matter of bodily autonomy relates to abortion. I foresee in the future much evasion, quibbling and denial on your part (you know how you do) and a lot of time lost (it seems more valuable to me) so I thought I would help you out. Antiabortion people agree that abortion is indeed an act of bodily autonomy but it is violating the right to life of the innocent unborn and therefore not ethically sustainable. Does that help?
There is a debate strategy that I've become aware of that is called the Gish Gallop and here is the definition that may be appropriate here..
Please explain how taking an abortion pill not an act of “a matter of what happens to my body is within my control and mine alone”.
LOL Perfect : Gish Gallop: When People Try to Win Debates by Using Overwhelming Nonsense..... and I'll add , ""and think they "won" when opponents get bored....""
Because the pill is doing the direct killing of the life, not the woman. She is merely an event in the chain of events. She has to trust that what she is consuming has been safely manufactured and will not kill her. She has no real control, all she can do is hope for the best.
They have no choice but to declare victory when their opponents can no longer stand up to scrutiny and stop replying because they have no more arguments. Then a few weeks or months pass by and that opponent for some reason tries again and goes back and forth with the person, before hopelessly giving up once again! Then the cycle repeats!
If hair dye was banned for whatever reason, would you say that women have lost the right to bodily autonomy? What if cosmetic surgery and tattooing was banned?
Yes. Everyone, but you, agrees abortion is an act of bodily autonomy. You are in willful denial of your own words. I even gave you the antiabortion argument as to why in this case it is not the ethical choice. That is a real counterargument unlike yours. It is difficult to argue against someone who insists the sky is not blue.
No, you win an argument by being right....you aren't. ...and since facts have no affect on you why would anyone keep trying to fix YOUR problem?
The right to CONSENT to surgery does NOT take away one's right to bodily autonomy....it is part of it. It couldn't be more SIMPLE
Who determines who is right? You seem to think that debate is about trying to fix eachother's problems. That's weird.
So you actually believe that if hair dye was banned, women would have lost the right to bodily autonomy! I look forward to you providing polling evidence to support that claim. Given that you are not anti-abortion, I'm not surprised that you don't know the first thing about anti-abortion arguments. Nice try though. You seem to think that there is some FACT that I'm ignoring.
FoxHastings said: ↑ The right to CONSENT to surgery does NOT take away one's right to bodily autonomy....it is part of it. It couldn't be more SIMPLE When you implied that if someone has an abortion, since someone else is doing it, then she has given up her right to bodily autonomy.
The facts determine who is right aand you have not presented any to prove whatever point you have.... See, wrong again...I said : """...and since facts have no affect on you why would anyone keep trying to fix YOUR problem?"" ....referring to your problem of not being able to accept and/or understand facts and the English language. Now, care to try the topic ? Hint: It isn't you ...
I never said that she has given it up. I have only said that getting an abortion is not exercising bodily autonomy, nor is getting a tattoo by someone or getting your hair dyed by someone.
This has been largely a discussion about OPINIONS rather than FACTS. When did I say that I expect people to try to fix my "problem", whatever the hell you think that is?
And you are wrong....she has a CHOICE to do with her body what she wants.....that IS exercising bodily autonomy. It has been explained to you numerous times and it gets really boring when you can't accept facts and that is what I meant by your "problem".
So it's only the CHOICE that is an exercise of bodily autonomy, not the resulting ACTION? Opinions are not facts.
Opinions are based on facts ..or should be...yours aren't......you STILL can't get "bodily autonomy"....so if you don't know what it is you can't form a valid opinion on it....and haven't.
