It's not a problem, they don't give a **** about logical continuity of their messages. They just spread them on mass, constantly repeating all the same - about Nazis, Russians oppression in Ukraine, Azov, 2 million Ukrainian army, defeated Ukrainian army and so on. And you see, on "free thinkers" who don't have a brain in their heads, it works.

The 'best' figures I've seen (as in considered most likely) are in a range 80 to 100,000+ Russian dead and perhaps half that for Ukraine i.e. up to 50,000 or so. Ukraine was losing a lot less soldiers until it decided to make Bakhmut a meat grinder for the Russians. The problem is the 'grind' works both ways of course, albeit the Uki's have the defenders advantage. Still the kill ratio has dropped back a bit as a result.

 

It looks like Bakhmut is close to being overrun now. Probably time to shut that grinder down and get out.

Finally something resembling coherent connection to reality ! Orcs are bringing the ground and pound .. no point in sacrificing more Ukrainian Children unto the alter of this failed mission. . The JV team put up a valient fight ...a brilliant display of some of the latest technology .. HIMARS -- 180,000 tungsten balls -- freaky stuff .. suicide drones .like in terminator .. hunt you down these will.

But Russia just brought too much firepower to bear .. sure the Ukraine artillery is better and more accurate .. but with 10-1 advantage in numbers .. the Russian Ground and Pound is overwhelming .. and unlike earlier in the war .. the Kill ratio now favors the Orcs

 

True but shortening their lines by withdrawing wont help much if the Russians decide to keep on going. If. It's not guaranteed they'll be able to do so immediately though because its cost them a lot just to get this far and they may have to pause to regroup. Of course if or when they capture the town they'll try to claim its a huge victory for them (it isn't) for propaganda purposes.

The thing is though Bakhmut is a point they need to take if the Russians are to have any hope of launching further operations designed to encircle or force Ukraine to withdraw from a large section of territory north towards Lyman. Although I doubt at the moment they have the men and materials to even contemplate starting such an ambitious op before the Uki's kick the door in somewhere else later this year.

 

The Ukrainian forces in the city are threatened by encirclement, so they're basically forced to retreat if they can't repel those advances, especially in the north. I hear the mud is an issue right now.

 

Certain people and sites I follow with access to open source military info seem to think the Ukrainians have already moved most of their heavy equipment out of the town to new positions and that the remaining infantry forces should be able to withdraw fairly quickly when ordered to do so. The Ukrainians have seen this encirclement unfolding is slow motion for months now. That's more than enough time to plan & prepare the withdrawal. Letting significant numbers of troops get trapped there now would be monumentally incompetent. And these are Ukrainian planners we are talking about - not Russian ones. If the war proves anything it's that to date the Russian's have been the 'go to' experts on military incompetence.

 

I know foreign language study is hard, and I'm trying to help.

 

The big difference is that Russia is losing a thousand soldiers each day. USA is losing nobody.

Sander's and Betty Crocker's kitchens will glow white hot, melt, and percolate into the soil. I feel certain that Putin knows what's what and he'll strike the snake in the head in the US and leave Europe with only a warning. Russia will need friends in Europe but the US is expendable unless the Indians want a chance at making America useful. It seems like a good idea to me!

WARSAW, March 16 (Reuters) - Poland will send Ukraine four MiG-29 fighter jets in coming days, the president said on Thursday, making it the first of Kyiv's allies to provide such aircraft.

One of Ukraine's staunchest supporters, Warsaw has taken a leading role in persuading sometimes hesitant allies to provide Kyiv with heavy weaponry. It has said that any transfer of jets would be as part of a coalition.

"Firstly, literally within the next few days, we will hand over, as far as I remember, four aircraft to Ukraine in full working order," Andrzej Duda told a news conference.

This has been SO long in coming! It is nice to see some meaningful action on providing planes to Ukraine at long last, though. Hopefully this is the beginning of much more to come, including some kind of western jets.

I saw those rusty old things a few years ago in the Galleria Jurowiecka shopping center car park in Białystok. They were used as play objects for children to climb all over while their parents were inside shopping. The tyres were only half inflated and the only way the planes could be moved was by Model A Ford starter cranks attached to the lug nuts and a couple of hefty wrestlers rotating them. Maybe they can still be of use if the US sends them a crate of WD-40?
