1) cracking down on criminals would take take the focus off of their real goals-disarming honest Americans
2) cracking down on criminals will reduce crime and dilute the calls by the sheeple for "something to be done"

The left wants to address everything BUT the people committing the crime. If they cared they wouldn't be letting violent criminals back out onto the streets to commit more crime after they've been caught.

The proof is in the lefts actions regarding this issue. Their actions are what's telling. You can spew all the talking points you want, but the refusal of the left to even attempt to tackle the real issue is all that matters here.

Last week I posted a story about to rival gangs having a shoot out on the highways of Oakland resulting in the death of a two year old baby in a nearby car. The DA in the case is considering NOT sending them to prison.

My suggestion would be to make committing a crime while being in a gang gets an enhanced penalty. Using a gun while committing any other crime and being in a gang gets an even larger enhancement.Committing murder while in a gang gets an automatic death penalty regardless of all the excuses often used to get out of it.

Then advertise that punishment on every billboard, sign, church, school, radio and tv station and vigorously enforce it.

The cities on this list have many things in common. If it was simply a numbers issue then shouldn't there be small rural largely republican towns on this list? I mean if it's just math and we take population out of it...right?

Did you bother to look at the link I provided. The SAFE act was only supported in NYC and suburbs. You said cities have to follow the laws of States and I pointed out to you with a pretty good example that that large Urban liberal cities often control State politics.

I never said anything about shootings in red states so was your last sentence some sort of strawman fallacy debating tactic?

 

You gave 1 instance in 1 State. And in the State with the largest city in USA.
In general, cities are NOT making State laws.

I used red States because you chose to use that 1 instance from a blue state.

And this thread is about a city in Alabama. Not a very large one either.
So I don't see what that one instance has to do with this thread or the fact that States Legislators and govs make State laws.

What is this obsession you people have with bashing Christians? The only people talking about hope and prayer in this thread seem to be liberals and always in a christian bashing context. The solution to the current problem IMHO is to reverse the course of liberalism. When I was in grade school many of my friends owned rifles. These guns were hung on the bedroom wall. No one got shot. I did not live in some rural area. I lived in a suburb of Washington DC (Falls Church VA). Guns could be ordered in the mail. Do you have any clue what changed?
