Why does it seem you want to focus on the gun and not the person? Maybe we need to make it harder for people like that to sneak into the country. I don't know how he bought the gun either, but it was probably similar to the way many people purchase illegal drugs. (You don't seriously imagine he just waltzed on down to a local gun store and they decided to illegally sell it to him, do you?)
the poster I replied to brought up guns, thus that was what my reply was about, same as you, why are you focusing on the gun?
Sounds like that whole neighborhood is full of gun owners and most are probably illegals. Maybe ICE and the ATF should go there and do some investigating. He's an illegal alien. You think a background check is going to stop him from getting a gun?...lol
Per the committee meeting notes for the NFA, the original target of the NFA was handguns. They had to be politely told by the then AG that that would be unconstitutional. Gun controllers ALWAYS go for it eventually, I refuse to play the game any more. My answer is no, you cannot have more gun control and in fact I'm going to start removing what we've already got.
FFS you realize he wouldn't have PASSED a 4473 in the first place right? Have you ever ****ing filled one out for ****'s sake?
But not the illegal aliens using stolen identities? Let them get away Scot free? Yeah, that makes perfect sense...lol
Do you need specific details on the law making it illegal for illegals to buy guns? If you do require specific details I suggest you go look it up so you'll be a little bit more familiar with law so you will know things like this and not have to ask people to do the basics
He could have found the gun on the side of the road and he was still committing a Federal felony by simply possessing it. If the ATF knows this neighborhood has illegal aliens and there's a lot of guns being fired off, then they need to stop worrying about ****ing pistol braces and actually start enforcing the laws on the books.
how about both, do you want to solve this problem or not? they come here for the jobs, no jobs, no come here
Pull your head out of those pro-gun propaganda sites-- the majority of Republican voters, think we need more gun regulation. It is only a relatively small, fringe group of gun enthusiasts-- and, of course, the gun manufacturers-- who are against any new gun laws.
None of which, gets to the heart of the matter: despite being probably in the country illegally, the man was able to legally buy the guns-- or am I under a mistaken impression? If this is as I've just stated, what does that tell you, about Texas gun laws?
So? They do not offer these only as a set. If Republicans were amenable to agreeing on any one of those things, Dems would be happy to pass a bill, on just that one piece.
I don't know Texas gun regulations-- do you? But stopping illegal aliens from getting in the country-- even if that was possible-- would not solve the mass shooting problem. What percentage of these gunmen do you think are here illegally? In fact, 77% of mass shooters, legally buy their guns. https://www.axios.com/2023/03/28/mass-shooting-nashville-guns-legally <Snip> The big picture: From 1966 to 2019, 77% of mass shooters purchased at least some of the weapons used in the shootings legally, per data compiled by the National Institute of Justice, a research agency of the Department of Justice. Many mass shootings in the U.S. after 2019 have also underscored the same reality. Illegal purchases were made by just 13% of mass shooters, per the data, which also notes that 32.5% of mass shooting cases could not be confirmed. More than 80% of the assailants responsible for K-12 shootings stole their guns from family members, per the National Institute of Justice
IF HOUSE REPUBLICANS ARE WILLING TO APPROVE THE FUNDS, Mayorkas wants to return to the earlier Biden era policy, of flying illegal border crossers, back to their home countries. Or are Republicans in Congress just all talkers, who will choose to play politics, and withhold the necessary funds, for DHS to be more effective?
