The 26 gun deaths (NOT 16) were in Wyoming. The number you claim for CA is not comparable, as it is total deaths, NOT deaths per 100K. This is important, as CA runs under the laws of the US + the laws of CA, and Wyoming runs under the laws of the US + WY. You should want to know what the legal differences are. If you want to know exactly where they were, you need to do your investigation.
Gun deaths are down because more people are carrying. So far in the bar area I have read of three carjackers being killed, one with no suspect.
Sorry. That's just not an argument. It's still CA, Minn, and the northeast states that have low gun deaths. You should be checking out THEIR laws.
Rather than measure gun deaths by total population, it might be more meaningful to measure gun deaths by gun owning population. People without guns aren't likely to kill anyone with a gun. My bet is that it would be about the same everywhere.
Looks pretty similar to the suicide map. https://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/usa/cause-of-death/suicide/by-state/
Maybe not the best, but the OP's chart does not say it excludes suicides. Which renders the chart useless.
LOLOLOLOL. 26 deaths in Wyoming IS total deaths. Compared to the almost 2500 total deaths in California.
if the person make a chart regarding gun deaths for the purpose of understanding the different factors you can most certainly include suicide. However, you should label each portion appropriately with suicide in one column, accidental discharges in another, intentional murder another, murder during commission of a crime, and so forth. We do this because you can’t throw a poor blanket solution over all “gun deaths” as they’re not all the same problem. It’s not that simple. People with an agenda will lump suicides in with the rest to falsely inflate numbers. A vet with depression would not be treated the same way some gang clot shooting rivals would be.
They look like they "murder each other". The highest death rate is in Mississippi. 28.6 gun deaths /100,000. For all blacks in all states the rate is 31.8 deaths /100,000. 11/100,000 for whites. Mississippi is the state with the highest percentage of blacks.
I fully believe there isn't some silver bullet for reducing gun deaths. We can make progress, though.
I have seen you claim that number, but I haven't seen you cite it. I've cited that there are 26 gun deaths per 100,000 in Wyoming.
Or sort them out by race and criminal record. I wonder if the gangster population is running out of competitors to kill.
What is your objective in specifying race? What is your objective in specifying criminal record? I don't see how either of these helps design a solution to the gun death disaster that is America.
I've already shown that white people kill at a higher rate with a firearm in Red states than in Blue states and black people also kill at a higher rate with a firearm in Red states than Blue states.
Not all suicides are gun deaths just like all gun deaths aren’t suicides. They aren’t treated the same.
