The headline: 2 dead, 5 injured following shooting involving teens in Yuma, Arizona

    The link:
2 dead, 5 injured following shooting involving teens in Yuma, Arizona | CNN

The lede: "Police in southwestern Arizona are investigating a fatal weekend shooting that left two people dead and five others injured, including teenagers, authorities said Sunday.

Victims ranged from 15 to 20 years old in the shooting that happened Saturday night at a gathering in a residential area of Yuma, according to the Yuma Police Department."

The comment: Guns in the news.

    Again.

Once again our social programs, our laws and our level of law enforcement was unable to avert these shootings and deaths.

Deaths from gunshot, based upon data for 2020, occur roughly every 12 minutes in the United States of America.* Roughly 110-120 people will also die from gunshot today in the United States of America.

The level of deaths by gunshot in the United States ranks high against other modern democracies.

    Guns in the news.

    Again.

    Stay safe 'n well 'n un-shot.

Roughly 400 million guns and 100 million gun owners in a country of at least 320 million.

Such events are very sad but I don't think that a tiny little fraction of people misbehaving is ever justification to take away the rights of 99.999% of everyone.

That's not a police Nanny state that I wish to live in.

If progressives had their way it would be like England where you're not even allowed to carry a pocket knife beyond a tiny little folding pen knife without being thrown into prison for it.

No matter how many times you are corrected on this, you carry on posting the same rubbish about carrying knives in England. I found this knife in a deceased tenant's flat that I was clearing and took it to a police station to hand in.

Was I arrested for carrying it? No. I was told to take it to a rubbish dump if I did not want to keep it which I will do this week as do not want it lying about in my house.

    Re:
Are you saying that carrying knives like the one in the photo is currently legal in GB?

The law regarding knives in Great Britain includes some if's and but's, just as with many laws throughout the world. A good summary is found at: British Knife Laws: Everything You Need To Know | The Truth About Knives

Its relevance to the ongoing level of deaths by gunshot in the United States of America is questionable.

Meanwhile, deaths by gunshot continue to occur. Information for 2023 to date is available at: Gun Violence Archive and Gun Violence Archive as well as other sources.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n un-shot.

I told them why I came to the station and said that the knife was in my backpack. I said that I was concerned about it and did not want it in my house. The officer said that they could not take it in and said that I should take it to the rubbish dump. I was not arrested like Fatback claimed would happen

I think you will find the law you reference applies in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland of which England is a part.
Not a good look to mention so called information when your information is so easily demonstrated to be plain wrong.

How horrible, not being able to leave your house with an object designed to take life by putting 45 pieces of metal, moving at lethal speeds, into the air in a minute.

Who knows when you might be attacked by a roving gang of 45 lunatics and the only way to defend yourself would be to kill them all.

    Thanks for responding.

Just so I'm clear about the laws in GB, the police told you to take an illegal knife to the rubbish dump and throw it away for any anybody to pick up?

Is the knife in the photo illegal to own in GB?

My wife went to chef school in NYC and many of the knives she requires to simply fix meals are more lethal than the knife in your photo.
Do restaurants have to lock their knives when they close at night?

uh, WHAT? who told you any of that? none of that makes any sense, where did 45 "lethal" bits of metal are you on about?

As the pointless palaver continues, we in the United States of America will experience another 120 or thereabout deaths by gunshot today. There will be about 100 or more grieving families, a member of which has had his/her life cut short by a bullet or shotgun shot. Unique lives that occur only once. Lives that, despite prayers and condolences, cannot be restored. Ever.

Rate of fire on an AR 15 is 45 RPM

A bullet is nothing more than a "bit of metal" that is projected from a gun at a lethal speed.

So what's the maximum size knife you're allowed to carry in public in England?

And why are you scared of knives? Put it in a drawer and keep it

uh, no. do you have a yt of any carbine shooting 45 rounds in a minute? it's a semi auto and like all semi autos it fires once when you pull the trigger.

I'm not sure how you arrived at "lethal speed" since from a ballistics perspective that's dependent on a lot of factors. also, no one carries an ar on their back or in a sling across their chest. I mean you can, but no one really actually does that.

How long does it take you to pull a trigger?
A rate of 45 rounds per minute means pulling the trigger once ever 1.33 seconds.

you can buy those knives in gas stations here, I'll bet they laughed so hard when you walked in with it. you don't open packages or cut things? knives have tons of uses. does your cutlery drawer not have knives a kid could grab?

You can carry a knife if there is a good reason for doing it. A knife must not be used in a threatening way no matter what sort of knife it is. Hunters and fishermen knives are legal if the intention is to use them to hunt or fish. The knife in my photo is of a hunting type knife with one sharp edge and one serrated edge

Our local rubbish dump has a collection area for metal items to be melted down and re-used, or so I was told by the officer. I was advised to directly hand it over to one of the staff

Don't know about laws in restaurants but don't think they do have to lock them away when closed

you can't show a yt vid of anyone doing that because proper mags hold 30 rounds. so you're not shooting that many rounds.

those people are either; carrying the rifle in some protest and looking stupid or carrying it because they legally can and still looking very stupid. carrying a rfile like that makes you a target, no one with a brain does it.

those guys in the first pics just look silly and I think that's at a demonstration. this guy has **** stock ar with iron sights, a toilet plunger, and it looks like it came off a shelf in academy. two guys with owb holsters look equally as silly. from a tactical perspective this is not smart, but legal. I'll also wager none of these guys has ever used a weapon in the field.

Why on Earth would you take it to the police? Do you suspect it was used in a crime?
