Conservatives cut off their nose to spite their face, and then accuse liberals of stealing their nose.

Of course they will. Kids don't look for porn in libraries when they can use their cell phone of laptops, or order DVDs from the net. And porn mags have existed for a very long time. They were around when I was a kid, and they didn't destroy the Gen-X.

He literally said the the very post you quoted, "If it is something they want to see, they’ll just find it on the internet anyway". So very obviously he did not forget about the internet.

So it's not banning books per se that you oppose, it's simply a matter of which books, like the Bible?

You still mad about Florida's book regulations in school libraries?

Never was mad about it. I don't live in Florida.

I think it's stupid, but it's none of my business.

    Agreed with what?

DeSantis's pathetic pandering to MAGA by trying to ban some books? I think it's stupid.

That doesn't mean that anyone in Florida should care what I think about it.

The law that allowed Utah to ban the bible is stupid too.

    https://pen.org/report/banned-in-the-usa-state-laws-supercharge-book-suppression-in-schools/

From the link above, "Books are more frequently labeled “pornographic” or “indecent.” Dozens of books were targeted for removal in the 2021-22 school year on the basis that they contained sexual content. But since last summer, this framing has become an increasing focus of activists and politicians to justify removing books that do not remotely fit the well-established legal and colloquial definitions of “pornography.” Rhetoric about “porn in schools” has also been advanced as a justification for the passage or introduction of new state laws, some of which would bar any books with sexual content and could easily sweep up a wide swath of literature and health-related content."

Difference between restriction and banning. Something that is sexually explicit should be restricted. We do this with movies with the rating "R," "NC17," and the infamous "X" ratings. The Bible does have one book, the Song of Solomon, that basically teaches Christians how to have sex, quite literally. Children's Bible does not do this because one, it is not a book Sunday School Teaches, and Children's Bibles can be limited in which parts of the Bible they teach, and that really does not include the Songs of Solomon.

Do you support a book being available to minors that the most disturbing topics discuss the seminal emissions of animals, genocide, rape and murder?

Now, do you support a book being available that the most disturbing topic is lesbian moms? Or a book on gay penguins adopting an abandoned chick?

The library book bans have nothing to do with "curriculum." And most libraries have the Bible available as part their collection regardless of age.

I would normally ignore you since you've already proven yourself quite dishonest in the Birthright Citizenship thread, but you do make a crucial distinction here between restriction and banning. However the OP calls it book banning.

I have 0 problems with this because most Christian parents already have a Bible at home and go to church anyway. So if removing the Bible from school also removes all the LGBTQ books, and gender nonsense and stops drag queen reading hour. then thats a trade that any conservative will make. We can handle teaching our kids about god and the Bible, we dont need the public schools for that, we need the public schools to teach the basics like reading, writing, math.. we will handle the rest

None of these books are being taught in the actual classrooms. They are just available in the library. We can't have libraries if each and every parent has to personally approve of every single line of every single available book. But it seems like getting rid of libraries in their entirety may be part of the actual fringe right goal.

Any part of the Bible can be read aloud on the air, without any bleeps.

The books removed from Florida libraries couldn't be read aloud on the air without the vulgarities being bleeped out.

That is only because so many people do not understand what the words actually mean. But the Bible is far more vulgar than some of the books removed from Florida libraries.
