A "big deal" would be if the Capital Protesters had some legitimate chance of taking over the Gov't by taking over a Gov't building - ridiculous nonsense that only a Kangaroo Justice would declare.

That's such a trite reply. The idea was to cause a significant delay in certifying the EC votes by Congress. If Congress doesn't certify the EC votes then the election is decided by the House where each state gets one vote. Which in this election would have thrown the win to tRaitor tRump because there are more red States than blue. The insurrectionists almost accomplished that goal but, two people foiled tRaitor tRump and his seditious cartel of advisors plan; Congress and VP Pence were to be evacuated from the Capitol, but quick thinking on Pence's part, the VP just flat refused to leave, and at the urging of Representative Ruben Gallegos, "don't get on the bus's they'll never let us back in". Congress was able to complete certification on time. The insurrection was to keep President Biden from becoming President so that tRator tRump could stay in power even though he lost the election.

That does not qualify as having a legitimate chance of taking over the Gov't .. nor disrupting the transfer of power in any significant way for that matter. Grasping for straws in the wind .. which even if you grab .. you still need a criminal conviction .. the nature of this requirement is not to be arbitrarily done away with according to Barr .. this is more of a procedural issue .. that the court does not have the right to make this ruling .. changing the rules arbitrarily .. this rule change has to be debated first .. and no such debate has been had .. as has not been trialed in criminal proceeding ..

The State has no jurisdiction to do what it is doing .. and aside this juncture - we enter Kangarooland.

Significant delay does not threaten to overthrow the Gov't - so much for the Trite reply .. without significant threat .. there is no legitimate chance of success of said effort .. and in fact not even intent to overthrow the Gov't

This is a kangarooland definition of insurrection being tossed around. There was no legitimate attempt to take over the Gov't .. I know, You know . and so do these Kangaroo Justices .. that without the army behind you .. in some fashion .. there is no taking over the entire US Gov't .. Sorry .. taking over a building full of congressmen and women for a few hours .. disrupting congress .. does not qualify as having a legit chance of taking over the entire Gov't .. It has a chance of procedural disruption ... but not one leading to the overthrow of the Gov't. .. and you can't say .. "Well well .. what if that procedural disruption resulted in Trump beating Biden in the Election" as that is a losing argument .. let you figure out why and have a chuckle :)

That's horseshit. An attempted crime is a crime even if it fails. Insurrection doesn't have to be an attempt to take over the government. I can include disrupting the business of government. Sending 140 Capitol police to the hospital, some injured so badly they had to give up police work. The broke up treasured antiques, wiped their shitOnWalls, scared the **** out of Congress, destroyed windows and doors and stopped the certification of our Presidential election even if only for a time.

    insurrection /ĭn″sə-rĕk′shən/
    noun
    1. The act or an instance of open revolt against civil authority or a constituted government.
    2. A rising up; uprising.
    3. The act of rising against civil authority or governmental restraint; specifically, the armed resistance of a number of persons to the power of the state; incipient or limited rebellion.
    4. A rising against civil or political authority, or the established government; open and active opposition to the execution of law in a city or state.
    5. A rising in mass to oppose an enemy.
    6. An organized opposition to an authority; a mutiny; a rebellion.
    7. Organized opposition to authority; a conflict in which one faction tries to wrest control from another.
TRaitor tRumps insurrection meets all but the last item. The attack on OUR Capitol, the most beautiful Public Building in the world, was nothing less than a uprising, act of revolt, against civil authority our government a organized opposition to the authority of the U.S. government.

The only "kangarooland" was tRaitor tRumps insistence the the election was stolen. There was NOTHING funny about it. :(

Which is only one possibility, of many that the insurrectionists did attempt and succeed at, in the definition of insurrection.

Sorry Friend .. but yes . as per definition 3-4) the act of rising against the established Gov't, Armed Resistance ... is an attempt to take over the Gov't in this case. It is not the insurrection of a Ship we are talking about .. or some of the other definitions for the word. This is the definition where the insurrectionists .. the rebellion ... is against the US Gov't. and there was no legitimate attempt to do this .. nothing attempted had any legitimate chance of success towards that Goal.

Thanks for the Definition ..shooting your legs asunder ..

Insurrection does NOT have to meet every one of the items. It only has to meet one.

    I'm not your friend.
You're welcome, your legs not mine. But, you should wonder that you are among a handful of tRaitor tRump apologists that insist it wasn't an insurrection because it had "no chance of succeeding". While on the other hand every government entity defines January 6, 2021 as insurrection or seditious conspiracy.

Which brings up another point. January 6th was ONLY one aspect of tRaitor tRump's conspiracy to defraud the United States and retain power.

HILARIOUS self own content duly noted above.

The proposal above would ELIMINATE the RED states because they are the ones who are VIOLATING the Constitution by IMPOSING their Insurrectionist-in-Chief as their preferred CANDIDATE when he is NOT ELIGIBLE to become POTUS.

But since I am here let's just GAME out the POSSIBILITIES.

SCrOTUS decides in their OWN personal SELF INTERESTS to DENY him access to the ballot because he could just have them arrested if he INFESTS the Oval office again. They will have their lives threatened but that is what happens when the Xtofascist controlled GOP is polluted by the likes of the Khaos Kaw-Kuss.

SCrOTUS grovels and kisses the STINKING ass of the TRAITOR-in-Crap by CAPRICIOUSLY giving him access to the ballot nationwide.

Personally I suspect the LATTER to be the case because doing that will PUNT the problem OUT of the COURT and INTO the CONGRESS. Essentially the SCrOTUS could rule that 14.3 places the ONUS on Congress to VOTE on whether or not Inmate P01355809 can ASSUME office IF he WINS in 2024.

That makes the 2024 election into a GAME CHANGER for Congress. EVERY seat will be CONTESTED irrespective of the odds.

    But will that MATTER?

There is simply no LEGITIMATE political PATH where the Xtofascist controlled GOP could win 2/3rds CONTROL over BOTH the House and Senate in 2024 which is what it would TAKE for the ORANGE STENCH to relocate into the Whitehouse again ASSUMING he "wins" honestly and fairly.

But let's complete the CIRCLE and assume for the sake of argument that he does win fair and square but he CANNOT overcome the 2/3rds majority NEEDED in Congress. He will FILE an APPEAL with the SCrOTUS who will then be in an even more INVIDIOUS position because they will be TORN to SHREDS if they DARE to rule AGAINST him AFTER he was "won". The rightwankers on the BENCH will OVERRULE 14.3 because of the "will of the people" or some such twaddle.

This looks like it has the makings of a SERIOUS Fustercluck for ALL concerned.

    Pass the popcorn, please.

Democracy fails when there are a lot of stupid, brainwashed voters.

Trump will destroy the U.S. if he becomes POTUS again.
His buddy Putin will help him with this. :(

I get MINE from Pew and Gallup and I correlate that with EXIT POLLS which are the ONLY true measure of the INTENTIONS of the electorate.

Those EXIT polls break down into the DEMOGRAPHICS that I find in Pew and Gallup and I use THOSE to estimate how they WILL VOTE in upcoming ELECTIONS.

The MATH is NOT pretty for the Xtofascist controlled GOP.

The LARGEST voting bloc in the nation are WOMEN and 80% of We the People SUPPORT abortion so that leaves your side with 20% of the electorate, PRIMARILY male.

Between 2020 and 2024 there will be about 12 million ADDITIONAL GenZ adults eligible to VOTE. Half of them are women and I can assure that at LEAST 80% of them support abortion.

Exit polls from PRIOR elections showed that Millennials and GenZ combined OUTVOTED Boomers. They will do so in LARGER numbers come November 24.

The QUESTION that NEEDS to be ASKED is WHAT, if anything, does the Xtofascist controlled GOP got to OFFER these VOTERS in 2024?

    A stinking TRAITOR, quite LITERALLY?

This is UNLIKELY to end well for the right.

Trump has tried to rig the Presidential Election before, e.g. inciting his fans against the Capitol to prevent election certification.
Next time he'll choose another nasty trick to stay POTUS, possibly successful. :(

Assuming he is elected, there IS NO WAY he could go beyond 4 years. Period. Your post, and those trying to claim he'll go beyond that is doing nothing but fearmongering.

Not. Going. To. Happen. Everyone knows this. Amendments literally take years to accomplish. The Equal Rights Amendment has been trying to be passed since 1972... and its still not passed yet. And with as divided as this country is, no other amendments are going to take less than that amount of time.

You don't need to be a lawyer to understand reality. All you're doing is fearmongering.

Besides, even if an Amendment were to be passed by some Godly Miracle (it would literally take such) that allowed him more than 2 terms then it would be up to the Voters to decide to keep him or not. That is not going to change.

I’m really excited that you brought this VERY INTELLIGENT and well thought out point up:

    Section 3
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Well this obviously disqualifies biden due to the Afghanistan situation.

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/27/politics/afghan-weapons-left-behind/index.html

I know I’m an idiot but it seems to me that:

    $7 billion of military equipment

would bring some sort of aid and comfort to the the country that HOUSED those that attacked our country on 9/11.

You made a GREAT point here Arkanis.
This is from the CNN article:
“Much of the remaining equipment” left in Afghanistan requires “specialized maintenance that DoD contractors previously provided” to Afghan forces “in the form of technical knowledge and support,” the report states.

So biden, as vice-president knew the Department of Defense was teaching these people how to work on this military equipment, and he still intentionally left said military equipment there.

    That’s aid and comfort Arkanis.

Even if they can’t afford to use it , they can definitely sell it.

Now, what type of aid and comfort did President Trump give those who KILLED NOONE on 1/6?
