I don't think that's true. I think rational thinking and empathy are the first casualties. People get so entrenched into tribal thinking that they can't see when their own tribe does bad things, or see it as good, and celebrate it, becasue it was done to the "other side", even if the particular people declared "on the other side" are completely innocent, such as toddlers in Gaza.

Its not the fringe group, I sympathize with the Hindu victims of Islamist violence just as with Jews, Kenyans. Islamism is a cancer all over the world and I cheer for people to face this threat and deal with it. Israel is certainly doing their best to control the propaganda, keeping reporters out, or just killing them. Luckily, the truth is still getting out, despite their best efforts. Thank god for cell phones and other devices available today that keeps them from controlling what news gets out, or else we may have never heard of the suffering of the Palestinians, and the world would once again turn a blind eye to their plight.
