Young people are idealists and they are indoctrinated in fake "tolerance" "multiculturalism" and "diversity" all their lives, instead of "unity".
They're the easiest to brainwash because they don't know any better and have weaker minds.

It's like marketing. Target a sector who are the most receptive because they have no real experience to draw on and they believe everything nanny govt. or the media tells them. The govt. plays the same game with double talk and party politics. "Poverty is wealth" "War is peace".."Change you can believe in"..or whatever Orwellian slogan will work.

Every nation that fails is because the people become divided by outside pressures and internal subversion of morals and traditions.
It's all slow and incremental but 2 or 3 generations is nothing to dedicated enemies.
Erode all the accepted practices and replace them with shallow narcissistic degeneracy.
Convince them they're "special" and they're so self absorbed they believe it.
Keep them distracted and infiltrate the govt.....and then when the "KGB" or "SS" or "MVD" or "DHS" or whatever come for them they never understand why.

Age and experience can usually trump naivete and idealism...
Otherwise it becomes "one step forward and two steps back."..before long the slide is irreversible and the country breaks up and civil war puts the period at the end of the sentence.
France, Spain, Russia, Bosnia,Algeria,Cambodia, Chile, Iran...all through history..Weaken the establishment from the inside and topple it.

    Our time is coming.

flying a battle flag that symbolized a desire to wage war against the united states is very different from building a house of worship. nor is race a good stand-in for religion. i dunno, the comparison seems super-cagey to me. simply building a mosque near ground zero is not a provocative act any more than building a church near the site of an abortion clinic bombing would be. because pro-life terrorists do not automatically equal all christians.

actually, your ideas are evidence of your own brainwashing, and 'naivete'. Your belief in a 'unified cultural force' is what the Nazis believed in. Not really the recipe for success, my friend. Countries fail usually because of economics, not culture. Ironically, NYC is the perfect counterpoint to your argument. NYC is probably the most culturally diverse city in the world. It really doesn't get any more diverse than NYC. In NYC, we have atheist white hipsters living next to militant hasidic jewish sects living next to christian puertoricans and dominicans. And yet, NYC is a thriving economic powerhouse, that outperforms all other American cities.

America's culture is not the reason why the US is a successful country. America's economy is. As Clinton famously said: "It's the economy, stupid." Culture has nothing to do with it.

There are essentially two types of geopolitical entities -empires and nations- and they're best considered by contrasting each to the other.

Empires are generally larger, sometimes even global in scope, and more likely to be geographically fragmented. Nations are usually smaller and geographically continuous.
Empires consist of peoples of different religions, languages, cultures, races, and nationalities.
One of these groups, a minority itself dominates the others by naked military power.
Nations, on the other hand, are dominated by one group that makes up a majority of the population.
Finally and most important, nations are inherently stable while empires are always inherently unstable. Nations are naturally stable because a majority of the people mutually recognize each other as co-nationals. Multiethnic empires never achieve true internal stability. They survive only by unrelenting military and police suppression of their inhabitants, and break up the minute the dominant group loses the military power, or the will, to shackle the empire's peoples together.

To understand the future, study the past. Throughout world history, all multiethnic empires have broken up, and almost always in cataclysmic violence.
The question is not if the multiethnic American Empire will shatter, but when and under what circumstances.

The former Soviet Union and the former Yugoslavia are classic examples of multiethnic empires that recently shattered in tribal violence.
The Russians had historically been the majority ethnic group in the former Soviet Union. However, the percentage of Moslems had been steadily increasing while the percentage of ethnic Russians had been steadily falling and had sunk to about 50% in the mid 1980s.
The old Soviet Union did not long survive the decline of its dominant ethnic group, and neither will America

America is a hybrid with both empire-like and nation- like characteristics.
America is empire-like in its immense size, its geographic fragmentation, and its great diversity of races, religions, language groups, nationalities, and cultures.
America is nation-like only in that it is still dominated by the English-speaking Europeans, the group that's been the majority in this country since its beginning in revolutionary violence.
You know America was born in revolutionary violence because the British establishment was treating us as second-class citizens to be exploited in their multiethnic empire.
Now, ongoing and dramatic changes in this country's ethnic composition are rapidly transforming America into a more empire-like entity, a naturally unstable political cardhouse doomed to collapse exactly as every other multiethnic empire throughout world history.

Culture isn't the ONLY factor, for sure, but as the economy continues to be purposely manipulated to fail by global corporations and global banking and our own FED, and more people are (hahahaha) "disenfranchised", lose their jobs, their homes, their savings...etc.. it breeds an undercurrent of anger. People get pissed off.
Then the govt. manufactures some "event" or an "emergency" as an excuse to crack down...to "protect" us, of course, as they suspend more freedoms and rights... and even MORE people get pissed off...like what has been happening for the past 10 years or so.

All those countries I listed before went through the same things...and most assuredly bad economies played a huge role along with other factors.

To say I'm brainwashed or to deny history is fine.
Lots of people in those countries I listed laughed at "doomsday" prophets or whatever, too. They didn't believe it could happen to them either. They felt they were the center of the universe, too.

Not to be dramatic..just observing that the conditions are very rapidly moving in that direction in this country.

I will be hiding under my bed with my iPad if you need me for anything. :omg:

In all seriousness; It is not clear to me that America as we know it will continue to thrive much beyond the next few decades. At some point the majority always screws the minority - that is how voting works. As the wealthy lose wealth and it is redistributed to the poor via tax grabs, eventually the wealthy will move elsewhere since this is now a global market. As the wealth leaves USA, all that will be left are the poor and undereducated.

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine." Thomas Jefferson

You have to realize, ironically, that NYC is NOT America. NYC is part of America. But NYC does not represent the culturally bland, tightly knit small american town that you idealize. And, ironically, while many of the tightly knit, small towns of the US are failing, NYC is actually doing pretty well during the economic downturn. And so while people like you may feel angry, and prone to violence, your anger is more a result of your own personal economic failure, rather than invasion from outside influences, as you claim.

If the economy were doing well, there would be none of this talk. In the 1990's, everyone had a job--and there was no talk of civil war. But now that the economy is bad, we have a developed a 'blame the foreigners' mentality, which is a common response during economic downturns.

Which brings me to why I'm right and you're wrong. In NYC, probably the most diverse city in the world, there is no talk of civil war. All this anger is coming from white, conservative, middle-class people living in small town america. In NYC, we are incredibly diverse and have learned to grow tolerant of each other. People like you, are intolerant, and it is intolerance, not diversity, that breeds anger and violence. The people who oppose the mosque, are for the most part, not actually from NYC. It is small intolerant conservative whites who are causing most of the problems. The diverse population of NYC, which you seem to despise, is doing just fine. If the US consisted only of large diverse urban areas, we'd be doing just fine. Unfortunately, the US has a huge underbelly of small, poor/middle-class small towns, with lots of intolerant people who own guns. These people are the problem. Not the foreigners. If we could simply shut these people up, America would do just fine.

The fact remains that the left loathes America and our foundational ideals of self-determination and the concept of America as a melting-pot, as she once was.

Now it is about touchy-feely let's not pee-off our enemies else they will never love us. Our enemies see this as America's weakness and will gladly exploit that weakness. Jimmy Carter, B.J. Clinton and now Barry all promote the same weakness, under the cloak of tolerance.

This will be our undoing as a free nation (what's left of it).

If some idiot at a ball game calls you an a$hole and you're there with your family, enjoying yourself, doing nothing more offensive than wearing the visiting team's jersey perhaps... Most people in the crowd really don't care, but this one drunk moron is really offended by you because you're rooting for the wrong team.

Do you really think it's worth your while to go to war with everyone in the stadium that roots for the same team as that drunken moron? I can obviously imagine a scenario in which you might actually have to defend yourself against that moron. But I assure you, if you do so, the overwhelming majority of people around you will be happy to see the lout either punched or dealt with by security, even though you root for the "wrong" team.

Most people just want to enjoy themselves in peace. And the people who flew jet liners into the Trade Center are drunken a$holes spoiling everybody else's good time. If you want to go to war on everybody who looks anything like them or thinks anything like them, you can do it on your dime and without associating yourself with the reasonable people in your nation, please.

The fact that people are so easily bamboozled by nationalistic BS is why the Constitution states that only Congress can declare war. Too bad our imperialistic visions of grandeur destroyed that notion pretty much right out of the starting gate.

The only problem with your analogy monkey is that it isn't one drunk at the ball game. It is 1 Billion people that wants to kill me and my loved ones.

You see what I mean about how easily people are bamboozled? This person actually believes that all Muslims want to kill him and his loved ones. It's sad, isn't it?

They have said as much themselves, declared war on individuals and our culture, preach hate and death to the West from their version of a pulpit every week. Who am I to not take them at their word?

    Right ok.
How you reach conclusions about my personality is beyond me.
FWIW love NY. Been there MANY times.
You seem to look for personal reasons to disagree with me. Ok..

Not that it matters, but I wonder how many pages of your passport are full of stamps/visas? I wonder how old you are?
You seem to be implying that I'm some kind of backwoods rube or something...maybe I misinterpret.

Like I said people in every country that's ever been overthrown or erupted in civil war thought it could NEVER happen to THEM..they're SPECIAL.They're ENLIGHTENED...and THEIR civilization is ADVANCED ..etc..

Anyway I don't need and wasn't seeking your approval. I was just posting hypotheticals with historic references . Thanks for the reply.

how do i reach conclusions about you? because of what you're saying. You're blaming diversity for our country's woes, when you should be blaming intolerance. That's classic. Don't need to see your passport to see where you're coming from.

never said that it can never happen to us. What i'm saying is where the threat is. the threat is not from diversity, which has always existed and will inevitably grow in open free societies, which are a requirement in our modern globalized economy. the threat is from intolerant conservative white people who own guns. these are the problem people. identify the true threat. don't just scapegoat the foreigners, which is what you're doing.

The passport reference was because I've traveled extensively and lived among other cultures. I wondered if you had.
I wasn't saying the ONLY criteria for civil war was from cultural differences. I used historic references to show that they play a big role.. All those countries I cited tend to prove that premise. Check 'em out and see.
Poor economic conditions are always part of any revolution.

I appreciate your opinion and the reply and respectfully disagree. Thanks.
