Surrender & Self-Loathing: The Ground Zero Mosque Reality Check

This video is only about 14 minutes long, but it opened my eyes to the reality of the history that we are repeating.

I find it difficult to find anything Bill said to argue with.

For people who don't have ADD, haven't been indoctrinated to hate america and know something about history it is all obvious.

 

I stopped when he started talking about suicide. Muslims are not a direct threat to the sovereignty of America. Their religion accounts for less than .5% of the U.S. population while the largest growing religion is spiritual nonreligious. Muslims are always going to exist, and the last thing we need to do is ban their religion.

 

More scare-mongering nonsense. Grow up, guys.

 

Kim how can we treat you seriously when you don't even watch the whole video? The guy is trying to make a point that we shouldn't be submissive. It is like me saying you are going to eat this hotdog. You being submissive say "yes massa sir, what eva you sayz". Instead you should be saying "No, I do not want a hotdog". Logic escapes you Kim.

Should Muslims be allowed to build a mosque at the proposed Manhattan location with a large sign by the door lamenting the behavior of lost souls on 911 and the blemish they put on Islam, and dedicating the Mosque to the memory of those killed (some of whom were Muslims) and to teaching people what Islam is really about, undoing the damage done by the 911 terrorists?

Or is it just impossible for them to build a mosque there? God forbid. People might stop in, check the place out, learn a thing or two about practicing Muslims, and forget to hate and fear them reflexively.

It wasn't MUSLIMS that attacked the Trade Center. It was psychotically angry killers who hate America for political and economic reasons. Are we trying to turn this into an issue with Islam?

I watched the video.

The guy makes good points, although his recommendation for historical alternative lacks any specific course or comparative analysis.

He's basically preaching intolerance as an alternative to tolerance, but fails to sell that intolerance by exploring how making intolerant choices might lead to something preferable.

 

to the extent that muslims are here in the US, the rest of us are going to be well-served to learn something about THEIR culture as they learn about ours. or, even more accurately, there is no them and us, because america is supposed to be a melting pot, so islam is a part of america because muslims live here.

i don't mean to speak for kimaris, but that's my interpretation.

Makes you think, and part of the message I have been repeating here. If your looking to build bridges you do NOT agitate. Very simple folks, I have gone out of my way to defend these people both here and at home yet I have yet to see them reciprocate. Instead they want to agitate, something is wrong.....

 

Flounder this isn't just about the Mosque in New York. It is about all the new Mosques in America that are being protested by Rightist fear mongers.

 

Automatic tolerance and acceptance of other cultures is not the same as other cultures giving deference to the "host" culture, melting pot or not.

If I, as a white man, moved into a primarily black neighborhood and promptly erected a flag pole in which to fly the Confederate flag, I have not given deference to, nor respectfully assimilated into the "host culture"..I have thumbed my nose at it, and my hosts inability to automatically accept, or have tolerance for my behavior would be completely understandable.

 

The battlefield is here at home. But this administration bows to kiss their butts.
