    LMAO!

So, you now think you have to be unemployed to support the cause?!

    Oh dear my!

This is about democracy, emancipation and overall fairness.

I just love how you all are panicking with reading the stories of these average Americans and start posting all sorts of crappy responses, cynic pictures (getajobhippie.org, etc.), start spitting on people and calling them morons, idiots, etc.

I just love how you are the first line of defense of the oligarchs and the plutocrats (you probably need a dictionary to understand these words), better know as "useful idiots".

2.No, all these protesters are not suffering. Not all CEOs shower themselves in bonuses and last time I checked the truly poor pay no tax at in this country at all....while the top 1% pay how much again?

3.Blaming others and demanding others folks fix problems for me is not a lesson Im willing to teach my child,Im sorry for you and your children if personal accountability is not one the first lessons you are going to give them.

I realize xenophobic Eurofags like to spout that ignorant twaddle, but c'mon!

Actually, that would be the ignorant assumptions of Europeans who pretend they know anything about America. Politics often does drive our economy - take a look at the government policies that encouraged banks to make home loans to subprime borrowers, for starters...

L:lol:L. You really are clueless. Everything Pokerface said is true...

He is right about the decline of education in America.

The funny thing here is that he doesnt even realize it is these occupiers... these progressive, liberal idiots who beleive everyone must be a winner that have lowered the standards of education and their strongarm unions that keep unqualified teachers in front of the chalkboard teaching the kids.

Look what happened when the govt forced banks to lower the bar so everyone could be a winner at the game of homeownership. That worked out well too.

The "truly poor" pay all kinds of taxes.

The top 1% can often pay zero, or only 15% of their income in taxes.

For all the desperation and troubles in California, yachts of any price DO NOT have sales tax in the state! A used 1988 Chevy sold for $300 DOES have sales tax. Get it?

I just love how you're so obsessed with the movement and don't even live in this country. Maybe a job would give you something better to occupy your mind, eh?

Only to an extent. I don't know about you and your family, but we set our own educational standards instead of abdicating that responsibility to the government and teachers unions.

I just love how you project your own sense of panic on to others, janpor.

The fact is, your ideological co-travelers in Camp ANSWERnik are not average Americans. The average American is at work making a living, not hanging out in some anti-Capitalist encampment displacing the responsibility for their own lives and decisions on to "Wall Street".

I just love how you use a term that was coined in reference the USSR's SOCIALIST sympathizers in the West ("useful idiots") to describe people who aren't buying into the vacuous meme of anti-Capitalist moonbats...

In relative terms the poor do not pay the kinds of taxes rich folks do. Income tax wise, payroll or local taxes..all will be much much higher for those in upper brackets. The bottom 50%,income wise, of citizens account for about 3% of the federal tax revenues while the top 1% account for about 35-40%.

The yacht loophole is closed isnt it?

Apparently lots of people took on enormous debt to get educations that are nearly useless in the job market. I think the student loan blowback that has put so many of these OWS protesters in the streets is a wake up call to reform the system. Since the Student Loan business has been nationalized, perhaps future student loans should be limited to those in STEM majors, rather than a multitude of fill-in-the-blank studies. Loan money to those who actually have a good chance of benefiting from it, not permanent graduate students who are working as baristas into their 40's.

Excellent observations. Problem is... it's going the other way. Liberals think EVERYBODY should go to college and student loans are a big part of that agenda. How many high school audiences do you think Barack Obama has told, "Not everyone needs a college degree to be a success in this country. The important thing is to do something that will support you and your family. If that means trade school, that's fine. You'll still be a productive member of our society."

I can tell you how many... none.

You're absolutely right about choosing studies that will make you a living. But I see that as the responsibility of the parents & student as well. Who the hell is advising these kids to run up an $87,000 debt for a degree in art history?

Here's some good advice... except it seems we've hit the generation who wants to study the humanities, but what are THEIR kids gonna do? :omg:

"I must study politics and war, that our sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. Our sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography , natural history and naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry and porcelain." - John Adams

I couldnt afford college so I served in the military, now I have a masters degree in Information Systems. I drive a 15 year old honda civic paid off, I only have a credit card. Even with a master degree I still have to spend for certifications. The reason I am still employed is because I am under 50 and manage to get by underpaid. Would be nice to have a kid, a family or a house someday. But unfortunately having a kid and a house today in America is considered financially irresponsible.

Another big reason I still have a job is because I am a government contractor. Fortunately unlike other engineers that got their job outsourced the government requires U.S. citizens to do this job. Would be nice to say why not increase government spending so we can hire more U.S. citizens like myself. But again that would make me a liberal.

In corporate America today, you can have a college degree, a secret clearance, bilingual, extensive experience etc. But why should a company hire you? When they can hire 5 more engineers overseas for half the salary of an American.

    ...

Huh? Why your inane remark about "pot, kettle, black" -- doesn't make sense whatsoever.

Besides, I recognize the setting, namely "De Kouter" in Ghent and his plakaat reads "Niet In Mijn Naam" ("Not In My Name"). It basically is a small group of artists protesting against what they perceive as a threat, namely the rise of Flemish seperatism and the breaking-up of Belgium.

Also, maybe this is a Catholic thing since Carnaval is a major celebration in the Catholic world, e.g. all schools close-down for a week, but did you ever hear of the concept of "ludieke actie"?

Apparantly is untranslatable via GoogleTranslate since it translates as "protest action" whilst "ludiek" translates seperately as "fun".

Anyhow, it basically asking attention for your cause in a "fun(n)y" way. In business this is called "guerrilla marketing". Most recent famous example is the e.g. slut walk.

So, SmartMouthWoman -- an other failure on your ever expanding resumé of crappy posts.

Makes perfect sense. Your country has it's own political problems, Mr. Pot. And your own kooky lefties marching in the streets. Guess it's just more fun to come here and stir the American kettle than work on your own country's issues, huh? Just sayin, you seem overly devoted to the American protesters' cause.

Interesting. Consider my posting his pic "guerrilla debating."

Now see? You were being real civil for a minute there. Then you had to resort to insults. Typical lefty. [IMG]
