Unfortunately, that's true. People who don't live amongst minorities have no idea. Their goal is to make them more dependent on the government so they can continue to win elections.
you are very correct, xsited1. We used to be a constitutional republic. Today, given the amount we spend on entitlement programs, we more or less resemble a government-owned and government-directed plantation estate! Republicans and Libertarians want to lift the human spirit. Liberals just want to tax the wealthy and give other people a free government handout! This policy only keeps these people beaten down and despondent because they know they are parasites and leeches who have produced nothing and contribute nothing at all to the rest of society. Sad ...Very Sad.
Comments like this... You see Strom Thurmond was a Democrat when he ran on the segregationist ticket but as the party evolved the racists had to either change with the party or move to the Republican party. As Trent Lott indicated the segregationist Thurmond found a cozy home in the modern Republican party once his type of hate wasn't tolerated by Democrats.
Yeah, Robert Byrd, he made up for being in the KKK alright. By voting against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Like I was saying... Notice how PatriotNews knew dates of things that happened almost half a century ago but is oddly silent about things that happened less than four years ago... Why is it Republicans are great at analyzing the politics of race from half a century ago but they never want to discuss present day issues. I wonder why? Hmmmm...
Because the Open Borders Diversity at ANY cost Democrats will brand them as "Racist Bigoted colonialist Imperialist Homophobes" for calling for a "Secure Border"
Because that was the pivotal moment, when the Democrats finally conceded the issue to the Republican 150 year struggle to get Civil Rights and Voting Rights passed. Why is it Democrats want to portray themselves as responsible for both acts and as the ones who came to the savior of Blacks when they were the ones who fought tooth and nail to deny both? And when they do there are many here who will correct the historical record.
Someone needs to tell me how this sounds like a Repubelican? "You can't talk about ending the slums without first saying profit must be taken out of slums. .....it really means that ... something is wrong... with capitalism.... There must be a better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism". -Martin Luther King Jr
A very Skewed view of history. Lyndon Johnson already knew he would lose the South once he championed and passed the Civil Rights Bill on 1964. Goldwater who was against the Bill, lost to Johnson in the presidential election. Johnson won 94% of the African American vote with having to buy a single one of them. But the Republicans took advantage of the Democrats association with Civil Rights from 1964 onwards. Republicans exploited the Democrats association with Civil Rights with a regional plan called the Southern Strategy. They convinced Southern Voters who hated Civil Rights that they would feel at him in the Republican Party. The Republicans have admitted to and appologized for this strategy.
Johnson and Kennedy demanded and fought for the Civil Rights Bill. Johnson signed the legislation. Johnson won 94% of the African American vote when facing Goldwater who was against the Bill in the Presidential Election. So lets get this straight Johnson wins the 94% of the African American Vote because the Democrats were racist??? NO the Republicans exploited the Democrats who were becoming increasingly thought of as the Party of Civil Rights. The Republicans designed a specific regional Southern Strategy to win over Southern whites who were dissatisfied with Johnsons Civil Rights Bill http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy During the 2000s decade, Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman formally apologized for his party's use of the Southern Strategy in the previous century. Michael Steele served as the party's first African-American chairman from January 2009-January 2011. Although the phrase "Southern strategy" is often attributed to Nixon political strategist Kevin Phillips, he did not originate it,[2] but merely popularized it.[3] In an interview included in a 1970 New York Times article, he touched on its essence: From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats.[4] So the young Southerners who rejected segregation moved to and stayed with a Political Party (Republican) that was rapidly losing Black American votes due to its racist policies. I hardly think so. They switched over for other reasons but not that one. Your memory of history is scant. The South voted for Carter because in part (1) he was very moderate,(2) a southerner from the State of Georgia (3) there was a recession under the Ford administration, And (4) Many Americans were upset with Fords Pardon of Nixon. Thats interesting. Only the Democratic Party provided the kind of environment that nurished minorty candidates. Thats why they are the first Party in History to Elect an African American President. A candidate like Cain has never held elective office within the Republican Party. And yet Republicans tout him as proof that they have a Big Tent Party and pretend he can go from Zero experience in elective office right to the Presidency.
So President Obama endorsed Byrd two years ago, a racists who used the N-word on the FOX News, who voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and that gives Byrd a pass? How is that a present day issue? What present day issue did you want to discuss in this thread about a man who died in 1968? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FIBJt-c2o0"]Senator Robert Byrd says "white ******s" on TV - YouTube[/ame]
Are conservitives so desperate on Racism issues that they get all excited about an 80 year old man using the N word?
Are Democrats so desperate with their revisionist history zeitgeist that they forgot that The Democrat party was the Party of The Knights of the Ku Klux Klan ?
Just pointing out the hypocrisy. Liberals call conservatives racist all the time and Robert Byrd was a democrat figurehead/hero until he died not too long ago.(less than a year?)
You are correct, jthorp24 Democrats are often the biggest racists of all! They dont like it one bit when uppity blacks like Herman Cain wander off the "political" plantation!
Because Democrats (some) used to be the party of racism and fought a lot of the civil rights legislation, as did some Republican also. However, many Democrats decided to jump ship and actually support the civil rights bills Johnson was pushing. So the Democratic strongholds in the South that appealed to racism were lost. Lyndon Johnson ruined it all. So the Republicans decided to court those voters. So you pointing this out just shows why southern voters are all Republican now. It's the racist voters, or their kids and grandkids, that signaled a shift in the electoral landscape. And MLK Jr. was very liberal on economics. So I am glad you brought this up. People can think about the realignment of the south by the Republicans with a bunch of racist voters who were against the civil rights legislation proposed by Lyndon Johnson and this can also partially explain why the south is so solidly Republican today, and Republican still appeal to bigoted people with their discrimination against homosexuals.
Still waiting for someone to tell me how this sounds like a Repubelican? "You can't talk about ending the slums without first saying profit must be taken out of slums. .....it really means that ... something is wrong... with capitalism.... There must be a better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism". -Martin Luther King Jr .
Dr King may have been a Republican. So was Ronald Reagan who, by today's standards is a liberal. I know you have this deep seeded hatred of Obama and will apparently stop at nothing to diminish him and his party, but you are way off base on this one. Apart from that, you are ignored by me for being so one-sided and vain.
This history 101 should be repeated to anyone that is ignorant of your short but and concise summary of the democrat history in the past. One can just dig out any Union's view on race in the past that would make a KKK today looks rather tamed.
Does not in today's context. But almost all blacks supported Republicans because there was no other option.
I don't care whether MLK was a Republican or not. The fact is murder, rape, robbery and drug dealing has gone up 100% since he demanded equal rights. His "people" have killed well over 100 times more innocents than the KKK ever did since he got his way. Tell me again why they erected a statue to this pro-crime idiot?
Hey now, get out of here troll. We all know that conservatives can't be racist, its an evil lie perpetuated by the mainstream media!
