My friend, the endgame to all of this will be lots and lots of bloodshed. Have you read Revelations? If not, you need to and understand that the evil we are up against wants blood. and you have to die in Christ, you better be ready shed some blood.

Why do you disagree? Modern (post-WWII) America's economy is built on globalization. Americans refuse to pay a fair price for quality work and continually demand cheaper prices. Thus manufacturers turn to China, Indonesia, India, etc to produce low quality, low cost stuff to clutter up our homes with.

The US Supreme Court works for Washington DC, not the states. Beyond interstate trade, why should the US Supreme Court be able to force the citizenry of each state to do anything? That is the jurisdiction and responsibility of each state's supreme court.

Agreed. But why do you consider the Fed corrupt and not the US Supreme Court? What's the difference?

So you disagree with sending US troops around the world including Iraq and Afghanistan?

Or any cell phone. The point is that most consumer items are the product of globalization. Especially those purchased in Walmart which is America's largest corporation and basically led the charge to outsource everything. Shopping at Walmart is about the most un-American thing you can do.

    So did Bush...and Clinton...and Bush Sr...and Reagan...and Carter...

The only real problem with globalization that I see, is that corrupt governments and corporations use that to take advantage of impoverished desperate people from around the globe at everyone's expense.

Global, but with Scotland an independent country within that structure.

Don't get me wrong, I have reservations. But...with globalization, government corruption apart, would there not be less of an open field for abuse of impoverished people around the globe if Global govt applied worldwide law similarly to US state vs federal law...
At the moment, global corp can avoid anything irritating by outsourcing, or just moving certain functions to other countries which have more accommodating tax laws, even splitting up processes and reuniting the parts to build the final product etc etc. If law were global, there would be fewer places for them to hide. If employment rights were globally equal, there could be less abuse.

Why would I go agianst the ideals of Christ and shed blood during the end times? Did Christ fight his imprisionment and exicution? Take a page from the Garden scene where Christ stopped the violence and healed the ear of one off his jailers. When you use the tools of the Devil you strengthen him.

How can Scotland be independent AND be subject to a global government? You would simply end up like a US state (or worse) with far less autonomy and freedom than you currently enjoy with the UK. I truly envy Scotland and wish California and the rest of America would more resemble your system of government.

You have it backwards. The greater the territory, population, and power of a government, the greater the corruption. In America, the greatest amount of corruption lies in Washington DC and filters down from there. Could you imagine Scotland being ruled by a government in Cairo, Egypt? That is the exact situation for us Californians.

Just consider a global government with jurisdiction over 7 billion people and their ENTIRE economic output. The amount of corruption would be mind blowing. Do you think the boards of corporations like Walmart, BP, Toyota, Apple, and Microsoft would just sit back and watch their profits decline with "fair trade" practices? Not a snowball's chance in hell.

But how can you make a case for commiting violence during the end times or any time for that matter. It goes agianst the teachings of Christ in every way. Turn the other cheek, do on to others as you would have them do on to you, and love your enemy as you would your self. None of those concepts, which are the core teachings of the Gospals supports any kind of violence not even to save ones own life.

The end times will be a horrendous time on earth like no other time in history. and I believe we are in the "end times" right now.

You can love your enemy enough to kill them if they try to kill you.

Food will be the #1 need, more precious than gold and money will be obsolete.

It is better to become a Martyr then to go against the teachings of Christ. Especially during the end times when the Lord is returning to judge all of us. Unless you can show something concrete to support the use of violence to save ones life in the New Testament. Or something that Christ said that would alow you to go agianst his teachings?

I am sorry I just realised that i have hijacked this thread so I appoligise. These questions would be better off answered in the religion section. In a bit perhaps we could delve into more there.

And how does one become a Martyr in Christ? definitely not by sitting still and taking a beating like he did on the cross.

    Read Revelations.

the only way Christ will fix things in this world is by the sheddding of lots and lots of blood because the Devil and his minions are not going to go quietly.

Ever heard of Armegeddon? that's the last bloody war to take place on earth. and Jesus will be involved in that one.

What are the benefits in globalization for U.S. citizens?

It benefits the elites as they are the ones that have been perpetuating it over the last hundred years.

There is something questionable when you have to worry about some other country defaulting and affecting your retirement savings.

There is something questionable when you have to worry about the Federal reserve devaluing your dollar by lending it out in secrecy to banks around the world.

There is something questionable when at the store you can only find "made in China" junk when you never wanted any of the junk to begin with.

There is something questionable when you give foreign aid to a county so they can buy fighter jets from you.

Does it really benefit the 3rd world undeveloped countries to be subjected to the IMF, world bank or the WTO?

Is a decade of fast growth worth it in the long run?

How well is globalization working out for, Ireland, Greece, France, Iataly, Iceland...... ?

Not that i am anti-globalization because trade can be beneficial to all parties. But I question how much globalization really benefits the average citizen.

Lots more to discuss: imagination, Currency, Gap between rich and poor, environment etc.. Great topic.

My opposition to globalization, and therefor support of sovereignty, is based on my belief that decentralized/localized government affords the most direct influence on the process for the average voter/citizen. The more centralized the decision making process becomes, the less influence and therefor the less representation each voter/citizen has on the process.

Centralization/globalization is antithetical to the ideals of democracy and representative government.

They are not mutually exclusive. Globalization can simply refer to people around the world being more connected (in a number of different ways). You can still have sovereignty in that scenario.

Globalization and souvereignty are not mutually exclusive. Globalization builds on the "achievements" of souvereignty.

While globalization and sovereignty are not mutually exclusive, global economic integration and the proliferation of multinational corporate entities that transcend the scope of national governments does create a situation that effects the sovereignty of some nations. One example would be the unprovoked invasion and forced regime change in Iraq.

Maybe I could add that a historic example would be for this the break-up of Austria-Hungary.

Sure, or regime change in Guatamala in the 1950's. Even the creation of the EU and forced austerity measures in Greece. Then, of course, there is the influence of multinational corporations in the US on the outcome of the electoral and legislative processes. The creation and finance of the Soviet Union by US and German based industrialists. Globalization isn't inherently the problem, but it is a means used to implement a global system of control that transcends the scope of nationsl governments.

I don't think anyone suggested that.

That will only be equivalent to a puppet master changing marionettes...still the same person pulling the strings..

I don't think there is such a thing ad unbiased polls on internet forums. The discussion that it brought about was somewhat worth it.
