I guess everyones heard that Pope Benny is pulling the pin. I heard that he's coming down to Ostrayia to see Truth Vigilante and give him some anger management training. Also, he's going to drop in and see Anthony Mundane and try to sort him out, although thats going to be a waste of time, as The Man hates everyone that isnt a Muslim..thats his own little jihad..although Mundane is the best athlete Ostrayia has produced...he knows that, just ask him... and he's not racist, he just hates everyone...particularly those who were selected before him in Origin and Test matches...all those Uncle Toms that played in the All Stars match the other night...hates them all...Lionel Rose..hates him...Evonne Cawley.. hates her...Cathy Freeman..hates her...all Uncle Toms...I suppose you can be like that if youre the best in the world.... And then Pope Benny is heading to Canberra to straighten out the Labor Party, and convert them all to Catholocism...but that wont work either because part of Catholocism is that you cant tell porky pies, Julia of the lying Gillards, Wayne of the Swans...Mr Albanese (aka Al Capone) Kevin of the Duds...none of them will convert...so Benny will get back on the plane batting zero and three... News just in....Benny is also going to have a chat to all the precious little overpaid, underworked footballers about their drug habits that no-one knows about..ya gotta luv footie... "run thru that wall Joe.." "daa...dat brick wall over dere boss...."...."ok".... Thatll be zero and four....or four thousand... I wonder if theyd consider Pope Magoo....Id make a good replacement.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFaGZe9WWVo
Uncle Ferd says, "Yea... ... dey puttin' him out to stud... ... fer all his years o' bein' a good Pope... ... he gonna be cloistered inna monestary... ... with a buncha nuns... ... gonna have a buncha lil Popes.
Al Gore should be in the running as well seeing the GW Cult have already made him pope of their religion.
Good riddance! Although, after reading the CV of the 10 most likely successors, I really lost hope to get a pope with some common sense, living in the 21st century instead of the 1900's! It seems that all of the "candidates" are just as narrow minded and prejudiced as Bennie! And half of them are almost as old! Yep, that predication that the Catholic Church is about to self-destruct may be true after all! It seems to me that the way it will happen is through a schisme. . .the "intolerant, stuck in the past" Catholics will try to survive. . .while the "progressive, forward looking and logical" Catholics will move on to the 21st century and accept that the man made dogmas of the Roman Catholic Church may have worked great 2000 years ago, when humanity was in it's infancy in terms of science and knowledge but that it has evolved and that, although we are still stuck in early teenage years. . .today's humanity is more knowledgeable of FACTS versus fiction an dogmas, and that true spirituality and concern for all mankind is a lot more important and constructive than old man made dogmas and traditions set in ignorance and narrow mindness! We'll see who the new Pope is! I hope he is younger than I am! . . .in fact, I'd love to see a Pope who would have grown up with computers and satellites... it might help his understanding of "evolution!"
Not a Catholic but applaud the Pope for resigning if he feels he is no longer able to perform his duties. Suspect he is the first one of many in the same situation to do so. Good for him. I wish him well.
There is an old saying: of all the people who hate the Catholic Church, less than 100 of them actually understand it. The Church has taught the same thing for two milllenia. People have been making your same complaint for all that time, too. Let's take the fact that only men can be ordained as priests: The Church has always professed faith in God's Providence. In other words, nobody takes it upon themselves to become a priest or a parent or a nun or whatever. A person is chosen by God for their particular vocation. Remember how Jesus said, "not My will, but Your will be done"? Well, if God wanted you to be a priest, you would not have born a woman. I know it sounds harsh to modern ears (as does humility in general), but it is what it is. The Church has always believed itself to have been instituted by God on Earth as the voice of truth. If you don't believe this, then you don't truly believe in the Catholic Church. If you don't believe in the Catholic Church, then go join whichever one of the thousands of Protestant sects fits the arrogant assumptions you narrow-mindedly place on God.
Then tell me this... Would it be fair to describe Catholicism as a false religion, as God said "thou shall have no other false Gods before me"...Exodus 20:3 Catholics world wide bow at the feet of the Pope (a false God?) and always seem to have statuettes of the Virgin Mary on their walls, mantlepieces, carried around with them. If a Catholic praises the Virgin Mary, then isnt this the cornerstone of a false religion. If they bow down before the Pope, arent they treating him like a God?
1.) In my opinion, the Orthodox Church is the historical church. The Roman Catholic church is in schism with the Orthodox, and Protestantism is the bastard child of Latin legalism and Western European philosophy. 2.) You can find writings as early as the late first/early second centuries describing Christians venerating (not idolizing - huge difference) the remains of those who died as martyrs. (It was felt that anybody who gave their life for their profession in Christ was automatically a saint.) 3.) Why do Protestants accept all the books of the New Testament as canon? It was a fourth-century Church Council which declared, on the basis of its athority as the established authority of God on Earth, which writings were to be considered divinely inspired. And for that matter, why does the Protestant Bible have fewer books in its Old Testament? 4.) Read any writings of the ante-nicene church fathers (those who lived prior to the year 325 AD). Although it's preferrable to read the entirety of their writings, quotes can't hurt. Here are just a few from several fathers: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/1775198/posts It's worth noting that some of them even knew the Apostles. Clement of Rome and Ignatius of Antioch were both even ordained bishops by John the Apostle (who died in the early 100s of natural causes - the only of the original Twelve NOT to die a martyr). Irenaeus was a disciple of Polycarp, himself also a disciple of John.
Don't worry you are not alone there...even Pope Ratzinger aka Benedict isn't a catholic either and on top of it neither was the pope before him John Paul 2. The whole Vatican is one huge scam now days!
dude, you posted on the wrong forum......there is a "humor" forum for funny (*)(*)(*)(*)e like that! __ Global Warming Ruled a Religion by British Judge April 30, 2009 An executive sacked from a giant property company can claim he was unfairly dismissed because of his "philosophical belief in climate change", a judge ruled yesterday. In the first case of its kind, employment judge David Sneath said Tim Nicholson, a former environmental policy officer, could invoke employment law for protection from discrimination against him for his conviction that climate change was the world's most important environmental problem. That conviction amounted to a philosophical belief under the Employment Equality (Religion and Belief) Regulations, 2003, the judge ruled on a point of law at a pre-hearing review of an employment tribunal in London. http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/climate-change/tim-nicholson-a-green-martyr-1648388.html
Funny how you base all your man made dogmas on . . . .more man made dogmas! It has been many centuries since GOD was captured by men and placed in a multitude of little dogmatic boxes, for ever smaller, for ever more self-serving to men, for ever mored divisive and unrelated to what ONE UNIVERSAL GOD IS, an entity that has no limits and that can't be made to man's image, an entity that loses its meaning when diminished by man by man's self serving dogmas.
The Flat Earth theory was based on "science" also. Flat Earth believers had about the same level of understanding of their subject, as AGW believers of today have of climatology.
Yeah, the science of not being able to detect a curvature. Fortunately, being wrong about the shape of the earth is not potentially lethal to the species. That warming is occurring is not in question. That being the case it's only logical to act on the presumption that we're causing it. If we do and we're wrong then okay we deal with all the bad consequences of that (weakened economy, lost jobs and so on). If we do nothing, and we're wrong, we face extinction.
