This is not a decision I arrived at easily or lightly, and not one I wanted to take, but I know it is the right one. It has genuinely been an honour and privilege to serve the membership as a moderator on this forum over the past few years. I would just like to say a few words about the staff team I have been working with over the years. I'm sure some of you would, and have, criticised them (and me!) from time to time, but group of people that have been more genuine, diligent and dedicated to trying uphold the principles of free speech, open debate, and fairness (even, at times, in the face of 'the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune', so to speak!) I have never seen anywhere else on the internet, or indeed elsewhere in life. Nobody is perfect, of course (myself included - if I ever thought I was 'perfect' I'd know I was missing something important!), but they have really been an incredible group in working so hard and so diligently together towards the same goals for the forum, and in doing their best for the membership, and working closely as a team despite the wide diversity of their backgrounds. They are a group from whom I have learned so much, and it has been a pleasure and honour to be part of that team and that family. I wish the forum, and all of those involved in taking it forward from here, all the best for the future. I hope that it will long remain a place that is 'open to all individuals of all political persuasions', where members can 'express their political views, even if those views are inflammatory or unorthodox', and that brings 'opposites together to relate their views and learn from one another', 'in the tradition of vigorous respectful debate'. I may well still be around and posting as a member, but for now I'd just like to wish all of the members all the best. I have a huge amount of respect for many of you, even those with whom I disagree politically, and those with whom I have had to 'cross swords with' as part of my moderating duties (such is the lot of a moderator!), and it has been an honour to serve you all in the capacity of moderator. Best regards, Cenydd
Thanks you for your service and efforts. Moderating is an under-appreciated and often thankless job, but IMO the mod staff does a pretty good job between balancing freedom of expression and degeneration into flame wars.
Respect and gratitude are heaped upon you sir....enjoy the break. Completely understood and deserved.
Aww, Cenydd, we'll miss ya -- hope you'll stick around and post. For a guy with blue hair (sometimes), you're OK.
you will be missed. that being said, what are you going to do with all the spare time you're going to have?
Cen's one of the best of the best and it has been a blast for the last 4 yrs. knowing him. He has a good sense of humor and has worked very hard in making the rules fair to the members along with other staff that left before him. I will be on from time to time and will love watching him debate. He is extremely intelligent and just the nicest guy. I know I will miss being part of the old staff, so many of us are leaving to open the door for those that will be new leaders. So much has changed but never the kindness he has shown me over the last four years. Awh, shucks, it's been very emotional for us.
Thanks for your devotion in making PF an enjoyable past time, Cenyyd. I hope your replacement is as fair and dedicated. Good luck in all your future endeavors.... and stick around to post some, FFS....I can really only remember one thread you joined in, and I took away a lot from your responses. all the best, webby
Take yer metalcore with ya! Didn't see eye to eye politically, but it was fun talking to you in the music threads. Take care.
The moderation around here is the best I have experienced so far. Like you deserve a feather in your cap thingy.
With you and Mak stepping down, PF is losing some of its best. I'm going to miss you. You've been a really good mod.
Another great mod gives up. You're a true diplomat, Cen. Extraordinarily fair 100% of the time. I would never say that if I didn't mean it. You know me better than that.
I see you're lurking. I've already found a grammatical error in my posts that couldn't be edited. It was hard but I got over it. Other than that, it's nothing but sweet freedom. Makes you wanna post, doesn't it? In a very few days, you won't even notice violations (most of the time).
Missing all of you. Its been an honor and a privilege to work with such fine people....always fair, always patient, and more dedicated than anyone could imagine.
Thanks for your volunteer services, I have learned the difference between American liberal and UK liberal from your posts. Good luck in your future engagements. Very intellectual too, United Kingdom has very good book learning schools there...
