Key word is accident. The environment of this planet and its chemical makeup requires that like be composed of chemicals and protiens to exist. The complexity and diversity of life from the highest flying bird to the still undiscovered life in the deepest trench of the ocean. That all this life beginning from a spontaneous single cell organism splitting requires the willing suspense of disbelief.

There is a fundamental problem with "creationism" and that is which story of creation do we use? Every religion has their own story of creation and they are not the same.

Before Christians take on science they really need to take on these other beliefs in "creation" that are just as valid as the Christian beliefs. All do have one thing in common and that is that they originated from superstitious people that created myths to explain the unknown. Science, on the other hand, attempts to explain what is known.

Scientists have occasionally speculated that life could be based on an element other than carbon. Silicon, being the lightest element with an electronic structure analogous to that of carbon (having a half-filled outer shell with 4 unpaired electrons), is the most likely candidate mentioned.

If life was purely accidental without a common ancestry we could logically have silicon based life on Earth. There is no shortage of silicon but silicon life does not exist.

We can expect other life in the universe and, in fact, the mathematical probability is very high of us finding that life. It will probably be carbon based but will not have the same common DNA that we have on Earth as it would have evolved on it's own.

More likely they are victims of some agricultural chemical.

And I have always been hopelessly fascinated by these creation myths. So many of them carry interpretations of events observers lived through. You mention the dreaming, one of the most most active faiths in Aboriginal culture is the story of the Wandjina. They became so sad at the actions of man they cried to the point that all creation was washed away by their tears.

Okay all sounds pretty cut and dry....with a strange echo to Noah and his story.

Well, not so fast. The Wandjina is a fairly young faith by Aboriginal standards. Various sacred sites have been dated and we have a pretty good fix on when this religion rose. What makes it interesting is the time frame matches geologic evidence of a major climate shift in northern Australia which saw the return of monsoons after an absence of a thousand years. Basically the Aboriginals wanted it to stop raining, and created a religion to help them do that.

I believe in evolution because of the overwhelming amount of evidence supporting it.

However, I do believe that evolution can be a joke.

"Corruption"? So who created eye worms, mange, blood sucking insects, and poisonous spiders and deadly snakes? Adam and Eve?

Jesus was crucified because, according to Christians, he wanted to be crucified; it was part of his plan. I sincerely doubt MLK wanted to be assassinated. And the major difference is that MLK isn't threatening to send me to hell for not accepting him as a savior.

Therein lies the core of this debate...the willing suspension of belief.

I am quite willing to disbelieve in something that has no basis to be accepted as a possibility. An entity that cannot be observed, runs counter to those things that can, must be imagined to exist, and is imagined in different ways by each who does so cannot be truly evaluated. That life on this planet shows very clear signs of similarity and an evolving structure across all aspects of it has been and still is evaluated through continued observation and extrapolation of known and verified Data.
Pretending this is not clearly represented in multiple aspects of study and very careful observation does not make it any less a reality to those who understand it. That some decide to ignore this reality is unfortunate and to be seen with compassionate pity by those of a more open minded mentality.

How can evolution be any kind of, comedy joke; for the sole surviving species in the Homo genus?

But that genus is famous for it's stand up comedy routines in nature. You can really appreciate Robin Williams after you have seen Flipper try to do a knock knock joke ;)

Of course. Are you claiming that you can eyeball the genetic sequencing of a person or an organism?

False, many studies are available that compare the genetic sequencing of non-coding DNA in chimps and humans.

I think the author of this article forgot to include this snippet from the paper :

"...we aligned and compared the nucleotide sequences of the chimpanzee and human MSYs.... As expected, we found that the degree of similarity between orthologous chimpanzee and human MSY sequences (98.3% nucleotide identity) differs only modestly from that reported when comparing the rest of the chimpanzee and human genomes (98.8%)."

Even if the MSY was completely different between chimps and humans, the MSY only accounts for 25.8 Mb of the chimp DNA. That's less than 1% of the entire genome.

Right, and what, specifically, would that be for evolution? What is evidence that would make it beyond a shadow of a doubt for you?

I'll agree with you that there are some people who are rigidly defenders of evolution without knowing the evidence behind it. I am not one of those people.

    There is.

Relevant portion starts here: "The cuneiform script underwent considerable changes over a period of more than two millennia. The image below shows the development of the sign SAG "head" (Borger nr. 184, U+12295 𒊕)."

I'm not sure what a developmental history of math would look like.

I guess it helps to have a sense of humor during the stress of "evolution".

The reason I often keep myself from coming onto religious forums is because of idiots like you.

So, YHWH had a second creation? That was never described in the Pentateuch. After all, there's really no other way for parasites to live aside from parasitism.

Your reading comprehension is so bad that you got the story wrong from the Bible and the history about King, too.

Of course neither Jesus nor Kiong wanted to get killed just because they refused to shut up.

Jesus said, I would that this cup be lift from my lips," and King said the constant flow of written death threats were some day to possibly be acted upon.

But they BOTH continued to say, The Emperor has no Clothes on."

I seriously doubt that God, an omnipotent and omnipresent deity, would do anything he did not want to do.

Okay, and? How are you able to tell exactly what percentage of DNA two organisms share simply by eyeballing DNA?

Not sure if you're being a sarcastic troll, a moron, or you don't like being proven wrong when you pull false statements out of your ass.

How would I know? Go ask him.

So you have no idea. You just don't want to accept the evidence available and you have no idea what sufficient evidence would even look like. Why? Because you're obviously ignorant of the subject. You didn't even know how evolution was defined when we started this conversation for heaven's sake.

Yes, we do, what's becoming more clear is that you have literally no clue as to what you're talking about.

Uh, okay? Not sure what game I've been playing.

This has just gotten (*)(*)(*)(*)ing silly. As the T-Shirt goes: "You share 25% of your DNA with a Banana. Get over yourself."

Because you have absolutely no idea what you're taking about. Your statements are based on nothing more than personal incredulity.
