Yea, I love when accents are so thick they put subtitles on when they speak on tv. I honestly can not remember what Tennessee's accents sound like. Likely so close to Arkansas they are very similar Arkansas is usually a slow twang. I alway heard people say they talked slow so they could think about what they were about to say. I love Lousiana the arcadian-creole-Cajun culture is one of my favorites and the food is amazing. You might not be able to understand him but one of my favorite comedians growing up was Cajun.
I grew up in Dallas lots of Hispanics(married one) many either just learning or knew very little English. I am familiar with having to use hand signals and even charades to understand each other.

The lack of any accent is the hardest for me to copy. I can imitate almost any accent even Cajun or Scottish( have read that is where the hillbilly-redneck culture orginated) The complete lack of or flat as you call it makes me uncomfortable. I guess because I know I will be the center of attention when I open my mouth. LOL

I can keep track of them just fine. And no one is forcing you to respond to anything. Participation on this forum is completely voluntary.

You made claims and I refuted the claims. It is not my fault that you are unable to defend your argument.

You'll have to ask wikipedia. Wikipedia did link to the source, which includes details about the survey. Do you have a better source showing different results?

And in areas other than America. But in the US, the vast majority of slavery was at the expense of non-whites.

So the OP is arguing that Western Culture is superior, and you're arguing that Islamic Culture is superior?

Current Western Culture is superior to Eastern Culture in only some aspects. It has become much too materialistic (not that it isn't inherently materialistic) and decadent to claim any moral or spiritual superiority.

I say 'Eastern' because there is no such thing as Islamic Culture.

So were black folks given the Bible to make us a righteous people or a more useful tool. I find it hypocritical that you say we were given Jesus, but yet we were brought here in chains and shackles as you would cattle or horses.

We already had a deep trust in God before we got here.

So you are saying the that white Christians in those days were haughty, cruel and wicked. So what you are saying is that the devil gave black folks Jesus.

I hate to tell you this, but that makes no sense whatsoever.

All you can assert is your opinion that you like Eastern culture more than Western culture, but Western culture's prevalence is not up for debate. It's an historical fact.

I never asserted that.

No, it's not. As I said above, Western culture is currently superior in some aspects (e.g. economically and technologically). Compare that to centuries ago, when the Arabs were introducing dirty Europeans to soap.

It's Western civilization that brought civilization to the world, so like I said, it's an historical fact. I'm not going to argue concrete facts with somebody who wants to ignore reality, so this is the end of this exchange. Have a nice day.

Uh that is totally false and it is this type of arrogant thinking that has lead many whites to believe that are superior to everyone else in the world.

Actually horses and cattle were treated better, slaves were cheaper ...they'd cram the ships with as many as they could knowing that a certian percentage would die...

True, but let some of the members on the forum tell it they were the true God-fearing Christians in the world.

That's an excellent insight. You're correct that the greatest cultures are not static, they change! It's fun to compare the cultures that existed 800 years ago to one another. But, it's meaningless to compare those cultures to the cultures existing today. Lessons can be learned from assessing cultures over time though. The lesson taught by the example you give is that most Europeans recognized the benefit of using soap. They adopted the use of soap, thus improving their own cultures as a result.

Among many other considerations when assessing cultural greatness is the objectivity and adaptability of the culture. Soap was recognized as beneficial. It wasn't rejected simply because another culture developed it. Much of Arab culture, on the other hand, has refused to accept the enlightened developments of western cultures. Cultures that are incapable of objectivity and adaptability are stagnant and often reactionary. They're doomed to fail!

Even great cultures make mistakes. Occasionally a great culture will adopt new attributes which are eventually proven to be destructive. If objectivity and adaptability are maintained, however, the destructiveness of such changes will be recognized eventually, and will be subsequently eliminated. Such is the present state of American culture. We've changed our culture in some ways that are destructive and potentially ruinous. Let's hope our nation will recognize those errors and return to the paths that made us great.

Western civilisation would be no where if it wasn't for the East. You have failed to convince us why current Western culture is, and will always be, supreme.

No, seriously it isn't.

Most of the world had 'civilization' by 15th century- when 'Western Civilization' left our hovels and expanded around the world. You may not have liked those civilizations but they existed.

Western Civilization did impose ourselves on much of the world after that- for the good- and the bad.

"I'm not saying that I'm a superior being racially. I'm saying that I'm a superior being culturally, and that's what excuses all this imperialism and murder."

E pluribus unum. This is exactly how it was designed to work. Everybody's invited, everybody benefits.

So are you saying that on balance "Eastern Culture" is superior or that they are about equal?

1- You're welcome. :)

2- There are advantages for the atheist who adheres to what a believer would call "Christian Priniciples", yes. But not to realize that all is created by creator who is infinite, severely curtails the ability of the atheist to bring harmony into his existence. (explanation beyond scope of this post) :)

3- It is not sufficient that God be paramount in a culture for them to be superior technologically, the nature of understanding of that God must be correct. For example, some culture may believe that "god" is to be worshipped 10 times per day, but believe that "god" punishes man, or that "god" has to watch the behavior of man.

This kind of "god" is a limited model to build on. And we model our lives on how we conceive of our ultimate Priniciple. If our "god" punishes and is angry, then that will limit us to REALLY believing that he could have created us perfectly loving. If our "god" has to watch us to see what we'll do, that means that our "god" isn't really all-knowing, and that will limit our ability to conceive of ourselves as having access to unlimited intelligence (hence advancement will be much more difficult for us).

This is a very advanced subject, on how man can only rise to the level of greatness that man conceives for his "god". If you don't understand it, you will. But this may not be the time or place.

The Christian God is generally considered a higher power than most other "gods". Like the prophet of Islam revealed, "If Mohammed cannot bring the mountain to him, then Mohammed will go to the mountain."

Jesus knew that ANYTHING on the material plane was possible, and did not doubt that God would give him the ability to do whatever was necessary to do.

Those two prophets had different viewpoints on what their God could and would enable man to do.

According to who? Women and minorities certainly have more rights and privileges and freedoms in the west. You might want to ask Tibet how happy they are to be oppressed by China.

Islam-dominant nations are even worse than China. Turkey (and maybe Iraq now) are the only ones I would consider even approaching normal as far as morality.

It's not hypocritical at all. The Bible is clearly ok with slavery.

According to me.

I don't know what this has to do with materialism and decadence. But I'll bite; describe to me some of these rights and privileges.

What does this have to do with anything?

What do you base this claim on?

Elaborate.

The right to vote. The right to divorce. The right to speak freely. Lets start with those.

It is an example of oppression on a large scale. This kind of thing does not happen in the west. If you wanted an example of how western cultures are more moral, I would say this is an example. The caste system in India is another example. The closer you get to the Middle East, the worse it gets.

Things like this.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2012/jun/17/saudi-arabian-women-risk-arrest-ban-driving

Thats hardly an isolated example.

Where in the East do women not have the right to vote and divorce? You are talking ideology, so I can simply argue that women are given the right to divorce and vote in Islam. As to speaking freely, you are free to say what you want as long as you don't insult. I don't see anything wrong with that.

That's because the West is powerful enough to not allow other nations to harm it. And the West doesn't really have any problems with aiding or supporting those regimes that do evil. The Middle East is generally an unstable region with poor rule of law. Still, it must not be that bad, considering the hundreds of thousands of freedom-loving Westerners that flock to the region to find work. It isn't Godless like the West is, though.

Well, Saudi Arabia is the most conservative society in the Middle East. It's come a long way compared to how the situation was in the 90s. It shouldn't be assumed though that the KSA bans women from driving simply because they want to 'oppress' women, or that they find them 'inferior.'
