Yeah, this is just absolutely absurd. Believing in god doesn't make you a "good" person. You should try to actually observe the world instead of sitting at home, making up completely unrealistic views about people.

 

The MOST DEADLY, DANGEROUS,IMMORAL, EVIL AND MURDERERS OF UNTOLD NUMBERS OF MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN were people who did so all in the name of A GOD!!!!

During the Crusades the Pope declared that all Spiked Maces which were basically a 10 lbs steel ball with spikes upon it attached to a chain and then attached to a 12 to 18 inch long by 2 inch in diameter wand or staff which a person would hold and use it to swing that Spiked Metal Ball on a chain called a MACE in to the HEADS of MUSLIMS during the Crusades.

In Rome the POPE made a DECREE that ordered all Maces to be MADE WITHOUT SPIKES and made a bit heavier but smooth.

The REASON for this Papal Edict.

The Church decided that it was MORE CHRISTIAN if a Muslim man, woman or CHILD had their HEADS SMASHED IN WITH A MACE WITHOUT SPIKES as this SMOOTH MACE would result in less BLOOD SPILLING FROM MASSIVE AND NUMEROUS OPEN WOUNDS THAT A SPIKED MACE WOULD CAUSE!!!

I find a person who is an Atheist to be using FLAWED LOGIC as it cannot be determined either way if a GOD exists or not....even if probability dictates there is an EXTREMELY LOW PROBABILITY that any GOD might exist in the manner advertised by the Bible, Torah or Koran.

But as that probability is not ZERO% I am AGNOSTIC.

But....I believe in something but it is nothing most people could identify with or understand.

I have experienced a few things but there is nothing that I have experienced that could be used as some defining PROOF....but one thing I do know for certain....the GOD that is depicted in the Bible....was a description of a GOD written by MAN.

No....GOD....could screw something up to that extent as the logic is so convoluted only MAN....could be so stupid as to write it that way.

Then you are an Agnostic Theist. Simply saying you are agnostic doesn't mean anything especially when you are saying "I'm an agnostic not an atheist". The two categories are not mutually exclusive and instead describe two entirely different things: theism/atheism is about belief, Gnosticism/agnosticism is about claims of knowledge.

 

I'm conflicted as well. Scientifically its impossible to prove either way (ah faith, its such a powerful thing in and of itself) however it seems unlikely that we are as we are by complete chance. There might be some higher being who was involved, but i don't know if it is "God". I can't just accept either answer as both leave too many questions.

as for the original post, Morality is more than just what religion you follow if you follow one. Sure it can be a guideline, but ultimately each person has their own moralities. Your 2 types of people are way to generalized.

 

No...I am strictly an Agnostic as I look at what data there is and this includes my own data and I have come to a conclusion that I have no clue what exists or not.

I do not base theories of what might be based upon FAITH AND BELIEFS....I base such theories upon HARD DATA.

What is wrong with doing what is right simply because it is what is right and ignoring whether or not some old geezer of a tyrant is looking over your shoulder judging your every move. Odds are greatest that if he exists your not important enough to keep an eye on anyhow. Do the honorable thing because your honorable, or not.

 

The problem would be in defining what is 'right' and what is 'wrong' in a manner in which it is universally accepted by every single person on the face of the planet.

 

But you stated you believe in a deity. That makes you a theist regardless of your agnosticism.
