What they also don't teach and many young American Indians today forget, before the Europeans arrived, the Indians were feet people. They had to travel, hunt and fight each other on foot. There were no horses in North America before the Europeans introduced them to North America. Same with beef cattle, chickens, hogs, steel knifes, axes, cooking pots, and toilet paper.
American Indians fought wars with each other. They traded with each other. They set up treaties. The "liberal" teachers I had in elementary school taught this. Don't understand why you would think this some great revelation. But if you learned history from only the European perspective, then you probably bought into the old Western movie stereotypes.
The white man also introduced small pox. Basically a culture that had survived for 20,000 years was decimated in a few decades by white man diseases.
And the Europeans invented superior weapons and sailing ships and conquered inferior nations, tribes and peoples as has been done throughout history. That doesn't mean white people ruined anything as the OP suggests. It is just the natural course of human history.
Since I'm not a Native American, I don't see that America is ruined by immigrants. I'm sure some Native Americans feel that way and it's understandable. However, it's unreasonable to simply give leadership of America to native Americans or even ask white people to give them back their lands and return to Europe, it's in the interests of Native Americans to live with the immigrants in harmony. One thing is true, if there were no immigrants, America would take a lot longer to be as advanced as it is today.
Sorry dude, you are wrong, wrong and more wrong. An invention may use wires, screws, oil, nuts and bolts, but they are still their own inventions: Thank Whitey for: Telephones, telegraph, radio, Television, AC and DC power, trains, planes, autos, rockets, spacecraft, bikes, motorcycles, air conditioning, steam ships, cotton gin, nuclear power, microwaves, refrigerators, flush toilets, computers, the internet....can I go on? Oh, and don't forget democracy the first people to end slavery.
a simple yes or no will suffice. - - - Updated - - - white people didnt invent any of those things, they only innovated existing inventions.
Okay, if you say so Mr. Knownothingabouthistory. The truth is the Greeks invaded Asia and the Africa and so did the Romans. The Mongols invaded Europe. The Arabs invaded Europe, Asia and Africa. American Indians invaded America from Asia. Superior weapons have been developed over the ages giving different tribes, nations and races an advantage over their enemies and neighbors. There has been wars and suffering throughout human history. It didn't only happen on the American continent to native Americans.
I could just see that around the long-house. "Oh that was a dirty trick those forked-tongued devils played on us with Small Pox but wait until they get addicted to this stuff. They'll still be coughing up their lungs and keeling over dead four hundred years from now!"
global colonization and brutal regime change is exclusive to one group though. im not saying who, i never said who it was, you made your own conclusions as can other people.
actually it was the black man and yellow man but dont let that destroy the illusion of the white saviour.
Yeah. Why can't people see that BY NOW? It's truly amazing that people believe that America is only "White-America". (Damn.)
Some people believe that America is for white conservative Christians only and nobody else may apply.
i think you have to look at the individual in question, break them down, see who they are, what they represent etc, it could well be that they are merely a teenager still learning, learning about everything in life including history which is generally the last thing people learn.
Yes, I agree. And is is definitely time to TEACH the social realities of this society in PUBLIC schools (far better than we have been); it would benefit us ALL.
The Europeans also brought steel. Before European tools and implements arrived the native peoples were a stone age people. The native people much desired the knives and cooking pans that changed their life for the better.
