Many on the center right are looking for an alternative to Donald Trump, without having to vote for Hilary. Something tells me many centralists, moderates, and libertarians in the GOP will turn to the Libertarian Party. Gary Johnson is on every ballot. He has alot of support among both parties and among independents. I beleve that enough people in the GOP would turn to Johnson as an alternative to but Trump's total votes down to a level where he will be unable to compete with Hillary.

Last polls I checked showed Johnson taking equally from both.

Looks the libertarians on FNC are pushing Gary Johnson big time----Stossel, Kennedy, Gutfeld, Levy, et al

With Megyn Kelly on the war path about anything Trump, only Hannity & Lou Dobbs are left on FNC/FBN to defend him!

Nope, Trump will lose the election for Trump. I'm voting for Johnson, and it's not because of Johnson, but it's because of Trump. That said, Trump actually does better in polls that count Johnson and Stein--he's only down by 7%, rather than the 10% in the head to head polls.

I'm not center right. I'm conservative, and I can't stomach voting for either leftist running for President for the major parties.

Hard to say. He could also provide a refuge for Bernie supporters that want to vote, might otherwise vote for Hillary by default, and would NEVER vote for Trump. To calculate whom Johnson's candidacy hurts most is a crapshoot at best,

The way right-of-center FNC/FBN is promoting Gary Johnson he will most likely takes votes from the Republican candidate, i.e. Trump

As I said, that calculation is a crap shoot at best. As Perdidochas pointed out, current polling sort of refutes the notion you are pushing.

There is a logical argument that can be made that it will help either side. You are making the argument that it will help Hillary, and ignoring the logical argument that it will help Trump. I on the other hand am looking at both arguments and accurately saying that it is a crap shoot. Time will tell. Current polling seems to indicate that your position is incorrect, and you want to insist that we will see your belief in the future. Hardcore Trump supporters insist that current polling doesn't reveal a vast amount of people that are too afraid to tell a pollster they support Trump, and they insist that we will see their belief in the future. I prefer to take a non biased approach and say that this is the strangest and thus most unpredictable election at least in my lifetime.

Polls, for the most part, accurately gauged Trump's wins and losses in the primaries. Only people who know they have lost start talking about inaccurate polling.
Quinipaic (sp?) clearly shows that the third party candidates hurt both of them, but actually hurt Clinton slightly more. Frankly, I don't care which one wins--Hillary or Trump--they aren't much different in basic views--both have spoken about using executive power even more wildly than Obama, and both are corrupt liars.

None of the Bernie supporters in my circle of friends are talking about Johnson at all.

However many of my Trumpster friends have been talking Johnson up lately.

My first thought after reading this was the old joke of the woman asking her husband, "Does this dress make my ass look fat?" The husband responds, "Your ass makes your ass look fat."

Donald Trump will make Donald Trump lose this election...and it is possible, make him lose it big time.

The libertarians will probably have their best election results ever in this election, thanks to trump and clinton.

A more realistic topic might be "How big will Hillary's landslide be?"

Many are saying this time a 3rd party has the best chance of arising as the traditional Republican party is being shattered!

The NeverTrump establisment crowd thinks they can pick up the pieces after the election but they are rudely mistaken!!

As soon as Trump loses the election, most of his supporters will go back into hiding under their white hoods.

I will be voting for Johnson instead of Clinton, mostly because there is no universe among any that might exist where I would ever cast a vote for a nincompoop like Trump and Clinton is just a mess waiting to be spilled all over the Oval Office.

I don't think a 3rd party could win the election, but it is definitely possible that the GOP will die after (it has lost) the election. The old GOP and trump's GOP simply can't stay united as one party. What we're probably seeing is another major re-alignment of american politics; a reorganisation of the voter coalitions that make up the two big-tent parties. on a similar scale as when the south turned republican perhaps. I think the socially liberal, free market people (i.e. the "globalists" who are the opposite of trump) from the GOP will go over to the democrats, and the dem party will move towards the centre-right. The GOP will become a pure populist workers party, representing the working class and being socially conservative, protectionist, nationalist, and anti-globalist. The GOP will move away from free trade, and probably also from capitalism and small government. maybe it will keep the rethoric, but it will side more directly with workers on stuff like increased social spending and maybe also ally with unions. The dems will become more capitalist and even more globalist, and I think the anti-globalist leftists will move over to the GOP. as for foreign policy, I think isolationism is now back as a major force, supported by the gop of course, and the dems being internationalist and interventionist.

In fact, the old divide between left and right is largely disappearing.. The new divide is open vs closed, globalism vs nationalism, free trade vs protectionism.. stuff like small government doesn't matter much anymore. The gop will move into the centre, and support big government spending. populists from both the left and right will be part of the new gop. "establishment" republicans will go to the democrats.

Hope Johnson makes it into the debates so that we can get a better idea of his policies and demeanor.
