I read your linked article, and I agree with Trump.

Our involvement in that country was a huge mistake to begin with. I do not want us engaged there any longer than it takes to decimate ISIS which is largely a done deal now.

Russia has always had influence over Syria, so leaving Syria simply returns it to the status quo that has existed for decades. I do not fear either Russian influence or Iranian influence in Syria.

Its hard to restore something that is still currently being blown up for one. This sort of fighting has been going on for thousands of years, the only difference today is ISIS has the weapons the Ottoman Empire never had thanks to our generous donations of course. We are wasting too many lives and too much money on a situation that has been happening for decades. Our best bet is to offer help once everything cools down over there.

They live in dirt and mud and are willing to pay for restoration of another country after war.
Iraq was enough for the US. And if they don’t foot the bill Asad will be overthrown in a few years after their people get tired of living in ruins.

Pompeo can't leave Trump for 5 minutes and he changes foreign policy, is this the dumbest and weakest president the US have ever had, without a doubt.

If the US withdraw that does indeed mean Russia and Iran have won big in Syria, end of January they signed an energy cooperation framework agreement, that gives Russia exclusive rights to produce oil and gas in Syria. The reconstruction work will cost billions likely to be carried out by Iranian companies.

The Kurds will be obliterated by Assad, Iran and Russia if they resist, the richest oil fields are in the northern Kurd occupied part of Syria, the part the US currently control including Syria's largest oilfield Al Omar and will be handing over to Russia ... :roflol: omg the stupidity  Trump sure is a deal maker, he just made the greatest deal ever... for Russia lol

The war against terror is now morphing into energy wars, the US withdraws it basically leaves much of the ME oil and gas to Iran, Russia and China.

Yeah let's get out of there now that we bombed Raqqa and a lot of other places into the stone age, and let the victims pay for the damages. It's the American way. :unclesam:

No, we absolutely do invest in reconstruction. Idiot bush rushed into Iraq and then failed at building and reconstructing Iraq, but it wasn't for lack of money or effort.

Uhhh, what about democracy? You forget Syria is a sovereign nation, and the people have the right to their own destiny. As for the oil fields, they belong to the Arabs who have lived there throughout eternity, and the tribes are starting to rise up to take their land and homes back. As for the Kurds, they can remain in Syria and will have the same rights, or even more depending on how the constitution is constructed.

As for the oil fields, Russia's not to blame for the West being hated by the Arabs. That was Washington, London and Paris' own doing. Maybe it's time they took a good look at themselves. Manipulating the American people with lies and propaganda, and making them believe we are still a righteous nation, isn't going to convince the Arabs when they're being mutilated and killed by American bombs and the terrorists we are arming.

As for Trump saying we are leaving Syria, well then why are they building an army base in Syria near the Jordanian border?

I agree, we give so much money to other countries when our own is falling apart.

The argument of "If you stop giving us money we won't like you!" is hilarious to me as it is basically blackmail

Not defending Bush or his reasoning for going into Iraq, but i blame Obama more for the reconstruction part (or lack there of)

Bush never should have to Iraq, but Obama never should have left.

Well, Obama got dealt a crappy hand there, we sould never have gone to Iraq. But once we were there, we should have finished the job. I don't fault Obama for this completely though, he had to succumb to his base that was constantly yelling to 'GET OUT OF IRAQ' even though the power vacuum left over is what is causing most of the problems we see today.

They both basically had completely opposite ideals of what to do. Bush wanted to go in, take it out and rebuild it (sopposdly) while Obama never wanted to go in at all.

The problem is, the pendulum that is the two party nation of America can't make up it's darn mind making us half arse everything and therefor screw it up.

Is it bad to take out a country then stay to build up it's infrastructure? Should we just stay out completely?

South Korea and Japan and Germany would beg to disagree.

I give Obama a lot of credit for Iraq. It was Bush that signed the status of forces agreement, not Obama.
If we had gone back in there the Iraqis would have been more than happy for our guys to die instead of theirs.
The problem is Iraq destabilized the whole area and our "friends" aren't winning.

Syria is no more, it's now part of Iran. Syria's people tried to rise up democratically against Assad but ISIS hijacked the revolution and Russia and Iran decided against replacing Assad (acting in their own interest), who were the problem to begin with. Besides don't complain to me about breaking international law, Russia has broken almost every agreement since the cold war including Minsk in Ukraine and Astana for de-escalation zones in Syria... lol@de-escalation.

Ass for you opinion of and propaganda against the US (emphasis on Ass) no one cares.

Per Mattis earlier this year, the US were to remain in Syria until ISIS are defeated, (which it's not btw I believe an American soldier died from an roadside IED days ago near Manjib) then turn the area over to local government and have the UN draw up a new map according to Geneva process. Once this is done they can ensure US oil companies benefit from a most grateful Kurd government, this will also help to refund America for any rebuilding efforts for north eastern Syria.

So you want us to fight a war for oil?

Hmmm, didn't you criticize Bush for that exact same thing?

How about you point to the post where I criticise Bush for fighting war for oil. What you will find is me pointing out (to trolls who do in fact make those claims) that if Bush did in fact fight for oil, America would have kept Iraq's oil, which it didn't, therefore bogus claim.

However the stupidity of Trump to think he can sanction Russia and Iran then hand them all of Syria's oil, and those sanctions are going to matter in the slightest is skull numbingly dumb. He criticises Iran then help them take over territory from Tehran to Beirut, where's Destroyer's dumb and dumber pics I need them in my reply to you.

You know what else I find thick beyond words, is Russia and Iran has done exactly that, war for profit. Prop up Assad for oil, but nooooo.... America is too special, they don't do that  think I need two of those pics

When it is a Democrat, it is "Propping up a peaceful people who want their freedom". When it is a Republican, it is "Fighting an evil war to steal oil and resources from the nation at hand!"

    Haven't you gotten the memo?

I have news for you, the Syrian people and their elected president, asked the Russians and Iranians to protect them from Washington and its terrorist crony's, and that's what Russia and Iran are doing. The Syrian people are thanking them for their help, and rewarding them with the oil and gas contracts.
