Help Blacks and Latinos are invading my neighborhood

I am white and I live (lived) in a mostly white neighborhood. It was crime ridden, poverty stricken, rottening houses, no businesses, horrible schools, drunks and criminals running free, shooting were common, people used to make fun of these area called it the ghetto, but at least it was all white and ours. Yes when the Blacks and Latinos moved in businesses came with them, schools got better, streets became safer, my proverty value doubled and the neighborhoods became respectful, but this is our damn white neighborhood and these invaders need to go! How dare they come to the white neighborhood and fix it up and come to live? It is our damn neighborhood.

Yea the liberal fight against the so called gentrification is sounds pretty damn racists and utterly ignorant when you reverse the sides.

I hear this argument all the time from ignorant liberals. Yet the other day I
was in the heart of wicker park (Chicago). People walked around safely, streets were clean, many places were open for business and it was a nice place to be. Yet 10-15 yrs ago this was the most dangerous place of the city! Why would fixing this area up, making it safe and bringing business back be a bad thing?

Nothing lasts forever, and that includes a white majority in America or any single neighborhood.

 

I moved from my last neighborhood because I saw the writing on the wall. Over the 7 years I lived there I saw lots of white families, many jewish, move out to a wealthier neighboring city. Those who moved in were living too many to a home or renting and the entire "feel" of the streets changed. The guests shifted to a noticeably lower class as evidenced by the cars, speeding, loud parties. Way too many cars in driveways or parked on the street. The language shifted. At the HOA meetings someone complained why it wasn't in Spanish. WTF??? The pool was no longer a place I wanted to be with my kids, because it started feeling closer to a hood and the vandalism of facilities increased. It was VERY obvious. Friends still living there have said, its only gotten worse. We're not talking cheap homes either. $300k+ That's the more disturbing part. A lot of it was due to renters or what had to be multigenerational families pooling money. Just not cool at all.

 

You can take the kids out of the ghetto, but not the ghetto out of the kids.

It is all fine and dandy IF you can now afford to live in your own neighborhood. The problem with gentrification is often times they clean the place up by removing the inhabitants. Not so much fixing a problem but more of moving it. If we are going to improve an area we should be trying to improve it for the people currently living there not force them to move by making it unaffordable.

 

Yeah, if you live in an area for 30 or so years, you would think after all those years of working your promotions and raises would equal the amount of money needed to live in the area that was improving...but who are we kidding, these places were just breeding spots for the future democrat voting blocks. But then that was negated by how many people lost voting privileges when they became convicts.

 

Isnt that kind of a vicious cycle we should try and stop? These are generations of citizens that are constantly thrust into a circular pattern of poverty, bad schools, single family homes, crime, incarceration, then no political alternative because of no voting rights. Then it repeats with their children. Would it not be in the countries best interest to try and stop this cycle at some point?
