we have people who are really anti gun , and those who are not.
So here is a situation whats would be your choice

@ men with a knife ad club break in your house , you have seconds to react before they are all over you . And you hear one say lets rape the woman after we take care of him.
You have several options which do you choose.

I don't think that you'll get many responses from people who are afraid of or dislike firearms because I think that they don't believe that they could be victims of a home invasion like the one you describe.

If you are the mayor of Chicago, that's what she thinks the CPD are for, at her whim. Oh, but not for the rest of the people. Just her. She's made that abundantly clear. You die, she has cops to defend her with their lives. Most democrats think this way.

I think you have a good idea taking polls. You do need to brush up on making them a little more sensible.

Not against owning guns, but let's be realistic here -
A gun is FAR more likely to be used by a family member committing suicide or to kill a wife/girlfriend in a domestic altercation
than it is going to be used for protection - so let's stop the Hollywood crap.
I own guns - have all my adult life - but it's time to stop the romantic notions of their use.

Double tap 9mm to center mass on first maggot. Double tap 9mm to second maggot if he chooses to advance. If they get past me the wife will be waiting to do same with .38.

What crap ? You know full well that many liberals are anti gun .
And estimates are that 1029615 use a gun each year for self defense . of that 160000 say they would of been killed if they had no gun.
Now the most used method for suicide is a drug overdose.about 39000 suicides from a gun shot and 92000 from overdoses intentional and accidental .

I think the problem with these types of scenarios are they are very contrived and used but people to try to prove a point. To start I am fully pro gun. In fact my interpretation of the 2A is that you should be able have own any weapon. Fully automatic, rocket launchers, M1 tanks, F22, nukes, whatever. (I have already made my opinion clear on this in the past so lets not start debating it again here. Just search for old threads).

The reason why I say your example is contrived is you setup the scenario that you have seconds to react. I live in a 4000 square foot home. 99% of the time I would be nowhere near my gun if I still had them. Even if I was in the same room the gun would be locked away and unloaded. So in response to your question if I had a load weapon within seconds reach I would used the gun but the majority of the time that is not the case. I think if you are worried about these situation is you are better off to be physically fit and learn some self defense technique so if you are surprise and only have seconds to react you still have a chance.

Well the average home is smaller then 4000 aq ft..And like me many people keep a gun loaded . I keep a glock 26 with ig eye night sigts and a lazer max guide rod laser. . I also keep a 12 gauge pump with a light by my bed.
my woman keeps a hk compact on her side .
No kids in the house but when there were or are the bed room remains locked neither gun is ever unloaded except for cleaning or when go to the range .
Most gun owner like a loaded gun available quickly as a unloaded gun is useless.

I am not going to judge and you can own your guns however you like. My father owned a lot of guns and he always taught us to keep our guns safely locked up unloaded and the ammunition locked up in a separate safe. I got rid of all my guns when we had kids mostly because I had stopped hunting years ago. I kept the gun safe to store documents. I could never see a situation where I would have a loaded shotgun in the bedroom out in the open. You may have locks on your doors but simple mistakes can happen and when it involves guns it can be tragic. If someone breaks into your home and you are watching TV or eating dinner and the gun is behind a locked bedroom door anyways then you are no better off than the anti-gun guy in your own scenario with seconds to react. Better be prepared to fight him off with that steak knife or tv controller.

First the only time my guns are behind a locked door is when we have people in the house aka kids, I doubt there will be a break in when I have a house full of guests

That is why we have the term accident. Your intentions are good but all it takes in one scenario where you have unexpected visitors of grand children, neighbor or friend and you forget to lock the door or get distracted.

Look I have no problems with gun ownership for whatever reason. If you asked me my opinion I would say always keep your guns locked away in the home and unloaded. Preferably with the ammunition in a separate locked container too. My issue was the scenario you asked people to vote on. In a break in given your limited seconds to react to the guy coming at you with a knife having a gun in the home somewhere is almost useless. You need to defend yourself right away. If you add the extra time to run up to the bedroom to get a gun that opens up many other options.

This reminds me of a video of a home surveillance system I once saw.

I could not hear the audio but it seems pretty clear that the homeowner heard them kicking the door down and there were several home Invaders.

The homeowner opened fire dropping one and the rest scattered.

I'm sure there are other similar videos.

Guns need to be fully loaded or they are worthless. Teach responsibility. When I was a young boy, Dad first took me out and showed me what a shotgun would do to a pumpkin pretending it was my head. Then I followed a hunting line with my b-b gun and watched my Dad and Uncles take down rabbits and quail. I saw what guns could do. Developed a major respect for them. It takes some effort but it is all about responsibility.

I voted for all three weapons. Any weapon is better than no weapon but a gun is the best of the three.

Well I have been around guns from age 6

And I dont know about you but my kids watch thier kids.
Theres more likely hood of you dying while taking a dump then one of my guns involved in a accidental shooting.
By the way my grandfather in ky raised me. Guns were kept in a unlocked gun cabinet . I didnt touch them as per granddads orders. Some times it comes down to child raising.
